| MooseTracks06-22-03, 01:46 AM | --A CONTROLLED INVASION-- With Mountain Orcs, Orogs, and the Tanarukk running wild in the many northern territories, Silver Marshes, Vaasa, Damara for example, I am surprised that the Tanar'ri haven't mustered their forces for a massive incursion in the surrounding territories. I know they have there own issues with the Baatezu, but can you imagine the havoc they could wreak as a combined force on the Prime? The link that binds is the Tanarukk, and it would be so simple for a Greater Tanar'ri to assume the form of a powerful and charismatic orc warrior unite dozens of clans under some false pretense, and just go apes**t. To begin, The sparsley populated communities would be the wisest choice, tactically speaking. With a little more than 10,000 inhabitants, Icewind Dale would be overrun in less than a tenday. It would be then become the base of operations, being easily the most defendable chunk of land on the Sword Coast. If they stick to the southern portion of the Spine of the World, the combined might of the Orc-kin and Tanar'ri could occupy a swath of land from The IcePeak to the eastern edge of the Silver Marshes in only a few years. And thats just the North East. |
| Mirtek06-22-03, 06:50 AM | An outsider invasion has to deal with many problems. The biggest problem are the other outsiders. If the mortals want to kill each other that's fine, it's their world and they can do whatever they want. If a few outsiders occasionaly get summoned (or come of their own will) to help in their wars, that's fine too. If the Githyanki invade a prime world, well they are basically natives as well, despite their holiday on the astral plane. But if one race of outsiders (like the tanar'ri) decide to invade a prime world in great numbers, that's basically inviting all other outsiders to join them. If the demons invade, the celestials will come as well and even the gods of this world might take a direct intervention (and no demonprince wants to come home after a long conquest to find an enraged deity sitting on his throne :b:) It's kinda like the orcgate wars. At first the mortal armies of orcs and humans clashed. Then the god-kings of Mulhorand decided Hm, takes to long. Let us just crush the orcs personally, then this will be over much faster So they lead their armies into battle themselves. But that's not the end of the storie. The orcs now totally outclassed begged to their deities for help. The orc gods looked at the war and saw what the gods of mulhorand did. Now they were #### and instandly send own avatars as well. You see, had this stayed on the level of mortals, the gods would have only watched. But as soon as one side breaks the gentlemen agreement of non intervention, the other side has to follow. If mortals summon 100 fiends to aid their war efforts it's OK. But as soon as an archfiends march his armies into a prime world to conquer, you can be sure it will takes only a few hours before an armies of celestials will come to aid the mortals Before their attack on Mithral Hall, the drow dismissed all demons Lolth had send to help them, because they did now that if they went to war with this extraplanar helpers, the gods of the defenders would send own outsiders to help as well. |
