| Amurayi08-07-04, 10:37 PM | I recently downloaded an old AD&D book from the WotC site. It mentions that the RIng of Winter once have been sought by Artus Cimber, Ebonhand, Cyric and Kelemvor. Which novels are covering the storys about the Ring of Winter? Wasn't there even a D&D computer game covering this artifact? |

And I forgot if James ever detailed the part where Cyric and Kel were looking for it..... |

| Amurayi08-07-04, 11:01 PM | From Big Sister: "Posts are free to reference novels when it is appropriate to a gaming topic being discussed. Although it is difficult we are trying to refine our interpretations of these rules to allow people to still post information that comes from novels and tell people where to find more information ." All I wanted to know is where to read about it, without starting a discussion about a novel. Anyway.. thanks for the quick answer. |

| Zigra08-07-04, 11:36 PM | And in the avatar trilogy. |
| Kuje3108-07-04, 11:54 PM | Ah, see I blocked out those books, and I don't use ToT's, so...... |
| WizO_BigSister08-08-04, 12:21 AM | I've been very cheeky and slightly altered the title of this thread from "The Ring of Winter - Which novels to read about em?"to "The Ring of Winter - Where to read about em?" A sublte difference I know but it helps shift the focus of the thread to the Ring of Winter rather than the novels. Amurayi can you satisfy my curiosity ... what was the book you downloaded? |
| Kuje3108-08-04, 12:35 AM | Originally posted by WizO_BigSister Amurayi can you satisfy my curiosity ... what was the book you downloaded? [/B] Probably Volo's Guide to All Thing's Magical, or Villian's Lorebook is my guess. |
| Amurayi08-08-04, 05:48 AM | Exactly. Volos Guide mentions all the powers the Ring has while the Villian's Lorebook describes the NPC Ebonhand who is still seeking the Ring to avoid Cyrics wraith. My players just met Ebonhand only to find out that he is seeking the Ring of Winter. As they travelled past the the Trollmountains in Vast in midsummer they found Northvast completely covered in snow and ice. The ring must be close. And Ebonhand will show up shortly. Some of my players asked if there's a way to find Artus Cimber, the guy who fought Ebonhand succesfully in the past according to the AD&D sourcebook. So I needed to know how his relationship to the Ring and Ebonhand is/was. |
| Dargoth08-08-04, 06:09 AM | Warning Spoilers from Ring of Winter . . . .. . .. . .. . . . . . . ok you asked for it From memory Basicly the Ring of Winter ends up in Chult, specficly Mezos and thats were Artus finds it The Ring was brought from Cormyr by a Cormyr Lord to Chult, after living in Chult a while the Cormyrian Lord went native and took up the worship of Ubtao a local god, eventually he became one of Ubtaos "chosen". Artus Cimber ends up finding the ring of Winter which is hidden inside the Temple of Ubtaos in Mezros and killing Ebonhand whose soul is dragged back to Cyrics realm (Ebonhand had a pact with Cyric that when Ebonhand died his soul would become Cyrics, Ebonhand tried to get out of the deal by trying to obtain the ring of Winter which would grant him Imortality) |
| Amurayi08-08-04, 06:40 AM | I am aware of this info. Thanks though. But big question: Where did the ring go afterwards? |

| Green Giant08-08-04, 05:59 PM | I created 3.5e stats of Artus Cimber and his companions using some material from the Eberron Campaign Setting that can be found in the Realms NPC Characters thread on page 16. Artus also appears in one of the Realms anthologies novels when he was a child and saved the then Prince Azoun of Cormyr. |
| Amurayi08-08-04, 07:02 PM | Oooooooh could you post the stats here please? What level did you make him? |
