Hi-

Has WoTC released the shinning south yet?

Has WoTC released the shinning south yet?Nope: it is slated for sometimes this month; I'd say either this Friday or the next. My local gaming store has no clue...

Copies are starting to become available. I've seen several folk on various message boards mention that they've acquired their copy from their LFGS, they were unpacking them in my LFGS this morning, and my author copies showed up at my doorstep today.

Just picked mine up, along with Libris Mortis. Libris Mortis so far doesn't seem to be as cool as Draconomicon was.

The art gallery indicated as much, IMO. It seemed to me that a lot of usable stuff is very easy to come up with yourself. I will buy Shining South though, and it'll probably be available in a week or two here.

One disappointment with Shining South so far that I can see if that the magehound Kiva isn't even given class/level information. She is mentioned at least twice that I saw, but didn't see anything else on her.

The revised True Necromancer in Libris Mortis is very nice.

Have both, must say I'd agree that Libris doesn't match the Draconimicon in terms of Wowness.

I've just flipped through Shining South so far, and I have to say the one thing that has caught my attention is the fact I think the maps look a little worse.

That said, I haven't really delved into the book yet (let's be honest, I've owned the book for about 12 hours, and 8 of those I was at work).

I agree with ya, but while the maps might be worse, at least there are maps, as oppose to Serpent Kingdoms which had none. Actually, now that I'm looking at the maps again, it looks to be more like the "style" was changed, they don't quite seem to match previous maps. (Coloring change?)
Course that isn't a fair comparison, since Shining South is more like Unapproachable East than Serpent Kingdoms.

Still trying to puzzle over the dwarves though, there are NPCs with the Dwarven Defender PrC but none seem to have the new Great Rift Deep Defender PrC.

Do like the Initiate of Loviatar :D Hurt me, spank me! So I can attack you better :D Too bad morale bonuses don't stack :D

Hmm, just noticed that the Halruaan Elder PrC is one that you have to plan for from 1st level. Just like a few the other Region Specific PrCs like the Hathran.

Erg is annoying that we have two threads on this book though.
