09-15-04, 04:00 AM I guess this must be an old idea for a thread, but I feel the urge to tell the world about my dreamlist, and I bet I aint the only one :).

1. "History of the Realms" - a massive tome dedicated to the history of Faerūn, from the First Flowering to present day. As a DM, this would be one of the books I used most, since it would help me provide that feel of depth, age and solidity that is so important when experiencing a fantasy world. I can't imagine the DM that wouldn't buy such a book.

2. "Players' guide to Faerun" - yes, I know the name is taken, but I mean a *proper* guide, one that provides a feel for the Realms adventuring life, every day life, history, geopgraphy, economics, flora & fauna ... something to help make the players wanna play, to help creating that feeling of being in a world where things fit and make sense, something that the players can use as their non-spoiler source of realmslore. If there was such a book, I would force every player in my game to get it.

3. "Volo's Guide to XXXXX" - not really 1 product, but a series. The Volo Guides are without a doubt the books that I use most when DMing 3e. I think I read somewhere that there is some legal obstacle for reviving the series, but if there isn't, or if something similar can be made, I would buy each one. Volo's guide to Sembia ... Volo's guide to Vilhon Reach mmmmm :)

An Evereska sourcebook, detailing the last elven stronghold on the mainland.

09-15-04, 06:43 AM 1) Manual of the Planes for Toril and the Great Tree! I would love to see the new Forgotten Realms cosmology fleshed out with descriptions and art detailing the planes, characters, cities, interesting locales and adventure hooks for exploring it all!

2) The Dungeon Guide to Faerun. A sourcebook detailing a lot of those dungeon locations in the back of the FRCS, chock full o' maps, monsters and a little history about each one. From mini-dungeons and low level outings to more complex, higher level excursions to challenge the higest level parties, this would be sure to provide lots of adventures and entertainment for parties and DM's of any experience level.

3) Kara-Tur supplement, detailing the oriental nations east of Faerun.

4) Volo's guide to anywhere!

Complete History to Faerun, with stats for all the major NPC's.

09-15-04, 09:54 AM Just a big book of important realms characters. Do your elminster and halaster again, but do all the minor ones from all the novels as well. I especially want to see a 3.5 Danica.

Cormanthor, an unabridged history. Much like the 2 ed product that rocked.

The big book o' maps, from the big poster map of Faerun, to a complete map of Waterdeep, with smaller maps of important or misc. buildings, complete with key.

09-15-04, 10:22 AM yeah a manual of the planes-planescape kind of feel book for the FR would be awesome. FR cosmology is still too, funky so I don't even hardly have my players travel the planes.

A new heros book would be fun too,

But what I really want is just more adventures, hooked in with realmslore, but not overshadowed by a series of events in the novels like CotSQ, where the PCs role is secondary to the events in the books. Something like getting their hands on some of the Nether Scrolls or saving some realm from such and such. And absolutely not one Drow in it either. Maybe a planewalking adventure, yes, egggcellent....

09-15-04, 10:35 AM UNDERMOUNTAIN : a complete set of maps to the first five levels of undermountain. A huge chapter on Skullport. Small chapter on Skullport NPC's and Undermountain adventurers. Huge section on Halaster, history(all), current stats, goals, and stated out apprentices. Chapters on key Undermountain sites. Chapters on new monsters, spells, and magic items. Then a quick guide to important Undermountain NPCs and generating random encounters by level. Then since I am Undermountain crazy, a monthly mag Undermountain, detailing new sites, levels, NPCs, magic, traps, monsters, updating info, and a continuing story of the daily life of Halastar.

Next the Ancient Empires : detailing Calim, Shoon, Imaskar, Netheril, Jhaamdath, Illuskan, Nar, Raumathar, and Survivor States.

And last Dungeons of Faerun : maps and details of some of Faeruns most famous delves. And maps of undetailed small dungeons.

Grin most of these are going to be in the new book set for next year called, strangly enough, Ancient Empires. :)

For my list:

I'd like the Moonshae's updated since it's been sooooo long since that place has been and a lot of changes took place.

Zakhara would be nice to be updated but it's not needed really.

Hmmm the area around Narfell and the like would be nice to have fleshed out.

And maybe one of the other continents that had never been detailed in 2e since they were left for DM's to detail.

As for the rest, the Faiths & Avatars series should get a face-lift and be re-introduced as well. That would make up for the least two books I would like to see apart from the "History."

09-15-04, 01:49 PM Western Heartlands - I don't think there has ever been a book exclusively describing the cities and locales of this area.

Volo's Guide to Anything - Realistically: Silverymoon, Moonsea. In my wildest dreams: Every city and village of Faerun.

Moonshaes: Kuje is right. Since the FR series book and the Atlas of Faerun there hasn't been anything. It would also fit nicely with the re-release of Darkwalker on Moonshae.

And I like the Underdark & Frostburn books too... but anyway

1) a complete guide to large scale war: mass combat, seige weapons, castles, etc. and the book should also include more detailed mounted & aerial combat, and descriptions of naval ships.

2) like someone else posted, a guide involving all those little dungeons & ruins that are vaguely described in the backs of the FR books

3) Netheril, & other old empires detailed & converted to 3rd ed

Yah, but it's a Greyhawk/Generic book, and 95% of it is crunch...
not much use for that in a straight FR Campaign.

Besides there are quite a few better mass combat rules out there (Green Ronins Testament/Troy rules being my favorites).

Oh yeah, and Mongoose has free mass combat rules from their Conan RPG for you to download here (http://www.mongoosepublishing.com/rpg/series.php?qsSeries=7).

I'd also like to see something focused on Unicorn's Run and the surrounding forest, just cause I don't think that's been done and I :inlove: LOVE :inlove: Lurue! Gods that picture of her in the FRCS is hot :D

Sounds more like Novel ideals, as opposed to Sourcebook ideals.

A book on Evereska and Evermeet and the High Forest

A book on Myth Drannor

Another huge boxed set showing all of Undermountain. (with maps of every level and sub-level and Skullport)

A book on Mulhorand and Unther (the Old Empires area)

A book on the Undersea areas (Sea of Fallen Stars, Trackless Sea, Sword Coast areas)

Another new continent developed from what they show in the Realms Campaign setting, perhaps north or south of Maztica...

I want to see all of these done. They all need to include multiple maps as well.

How about a big fat no on that. After all, some of us don't have those old books so updates do us no good.

I had 80% of all the Forgotten Realms books ever written, but then when it appeared my group and I were no longer going to play D&D anymore I sold them.

But still, there are lots of others out there who don't have any of those books or never did.

09-16-04, 11:22 PM Gotta say I agree with the new stuff, its easy to update 2e modules and books and we already have 20 of them for free. Too much of the stuff they are putting out now is a redux. Boring, boring, boring boring, so if you want it head over to e-bay.

Now back to the best idea here a FR Planewalking adventure that is not a tie in to any book or video game, just great roleplaying fun. You yes you can save the world...

09-16-04, 11:58 PM We talked about what we PERSONALLY wanted. I didn't say what I thought EVERYONE would want. WoTC makes a lot of money from people by reprinting 75% of the old stuff.

The only thing I would ever buy any future FR books are for regions/areas that haven't been discussed in 2E and for fluff. I could care less about everything else, from a completely personal point of view.

As much as I like 3rd edition, it is kind of frustrating having all of the prestige classes spread across numerous manuals, while old favorites, like the Demarchs, are not even officially converted to a 3rd ed. prestige class.

Asking for more of that stuff, then calling what has been released junk, isn't going to encourage them to put out more.

Definitely more info on demihuman races (OTHER THAN DROW!!!), their cities, their cultures, complete stats for their deities, their histories, etc., and special feats/spells/magic items for them. Not only stuff on Evereska but more on the Dwarves, Gnomes, and Halflings, which have been relatively ignored.

2. A consolidated, revamped "shopping list" of all the items from all the supplements published thus far (including Exalted Deeds, Vile Darkness, Draconomicon, regional guides, PRC guides, PGtF, MoF, etc.) updated to 3.5e, with prices and "where you can buy it" info -- this would be very helpful when parties have cash to spend and need to figure out what is and is not available.

3. Yes, details about the other planes would be nice.

4. A really thorough sourcebook for druids in Faerun.

5. Yep, details about all the dungeons in the back of the book, with adventures for varying party levels would be really cool.

I would also like to see a book on the good and neutral organisations of Faerūn, similar to LOD.

09-21-04, 02:23 PM Western Heartlands: Sure, I have all the AD&D supplements that cover WH in some detail, but I really hate having to dig through half a dozen books every time I need details on a city or geographical locale. This book would need to be at least 224 pages, if not 320, with one-page maps of all the important cities of the Western Heartlands.

Faiths of Faerun: The books that Faiths & Pantheons should have been, a thorough update of the 2nd edition trilogy without the utterly pointless deity stats.

Heroes of Faerun: A book on nonevil organizations, very similar in theme and scope to Lords of Darkness.

There's what...5 Vile/Exalted feats in the PGtF? One requires intimate connections with one of the 7 sisters, one's for a follower of Lolth, one's for a Red Wizard, one's for a follower of Lliira. The 5th is rather weak (imo) The choices in that book, only one in 50 game groups would use, other than the DM snagging the Lolth feat for his evil NPCs, possibly.

This is from the same book that has PrCs for about 10 deities, and initiate feats for about 15 different deities.

EDIT -- To clear up any possible confusion, for that 1/50 groups, those are some NICE feats (That Lliira one looks fun), but overall, the choices are too limited when compared to the other deitific items contained in the same book.

I agree with you. Those books are invaluable and I'd LOVE to see a 3.5 update of those as I found Faiths and Pantheons sorely lacking once you got past the major deities. And even with them, there was less info than the 2ed books had. Also a better picture gallery on some of the deities. I dislike the one for Torm as my first thought was that he was the dragon as the pic centered on the dragon, not him. And the "lesser" deities need a pic gallery of them as well so we know what they look like so we can better envision them.

History of Faerun is a great idea. A springboard for loads of campaigns.

A book on current happenings in the Realms, basically 1001 adventure hooks for those lazy DM's like me. (Last year of a degree, short on time)

2- A binder with all the maps of the regions of the realms. REal Maps like the one in the Silver Marshes, that we can put together and use with the Hex sheets!

3- A book with most of the important characters of Faerun, Good or evil. With a description of what the look like, their stats and a brief history of who they are!

Yah, but it's a Greyhawk/Generic book, and 95% of it is crunch... not much use for that in a straight FR Campaign. Besides there are quite a few better mass combat rules out there (Green Ronins Testament/Troy rules being my favorites). Oh yeah, and Mongoose has free mass combat rules from their Conan RPG for you to download here (http://www.mongoosepublishing.com/rpg/series.php?qsSeries=7).

(with maps of every level and sub-level and Skullport) A book on Mulhorand and Unther (the Old Empires area) A book on the Undersea areas (Sea of Fallen Stars, Trackless Sea, Sword Coast areas) Another new continent developed from what they show in the Realms Campaign setting, perhaps north or south of Maztica... I want to see all of these done. They all need to include multiple maps as well.

After all, some of us don't have those old books so updates do us no good. I had 80% of all the Forgotten Realms books ever written, but then when it appeared my group and I were no longer going to play D&D anymore I sold them. But still, there are lots of others out there who don't have any of those books or never did.

Too much of the stuff they are putting out now is a redux. Boring, boring, boring boring, so if you want it head over to e-bay. Now back to the best idea here a FR Planewalking adventure that is not a tie in to any book or video game, just great roleplaying fun. You yes you can save the world...
GothicDan 09-16-04, 11:58 PM	We talked about what we PERSONALLY wanted. I didn't say what I thought EVERYONE would want. WoTC makes a lot of money from people by reprinting 75% of the old stuff. The only thing I would ever buy any future FR books are for regions/areas that haven't been discussed in 2E and for fluff. I could care less about everything else, from a completely personal point of view.

As much as I like 3rd edition, it is kind of frustrating having all of the prestige classes spread across numerous manuals, while old favorites, like the Demarchs, are not even officially converted to a 3rd ed. prestige class.

Asking for more of that stuff, then calling what has been released junk, isn't going to encourage them to put out more.

Definitely more info on demihuman races (OTHER THAN DROW!!!), their cities, their cultures, complete stats for their deities, their histories, etc., and special feats/spells/magic items for them. Not only stuff on Evereska but more on the Dwarves, Gnomes, and Halflings, which have been relatively ignored. 2. A consolidated, revamped "shopping list" of all the items from all the supplements published thus far (including Exalted Deeds, Vile Darkness, Draconomicon, regional guides, PRC guides, PGtF, MoF, etc.) updated to 3.5e, with prices and "where you can buy it" info -- this would be very helpful when parties have cash to spend and need to figure out what is and is not available. 3. Yes, details about the other planes would be nice. 4. A really thorough sourcebook for druids in Faerun. 5. Yep, details about all the dungeons in the back of the book, with adventures for varying party levels would be really cool. -Crystaldragon Do good when you can. Do evil when you must. -- Armand

Sammael_the_Chosen 09-21-04, 02:23 PM	Western Heartlands: Sure, I have all the AD&D supplements that cover WH in some detail, but I really hate having to dig through half a dozen books every time I need details on a city or geographical locale. This book would need to be at least 224 pages, if not 320, with one-page maps of all the important cities of the Western Heartlands. Faiths of Faerun: The books that Faiths & Pantheons should have been, a thorough update of the 2nd edition trilogy without the utterly pointless deity stats. Heroes of Faerun: A book on nonevil organizations, very similar in theme and scope to Lords of Darkness.

One requires intimate connections with one of the 7 sisters, one's for a follower of Lolth, one's for a Red Wizard, one's for a follower of Lliira. The 5th is rather weak (imo) The choices in that book, only one in 50 game groups would use, other than the DM snagging the Lolth feat for his evil NPCs, possibly. This is from the same book that has PrCs for about 10 deities, and initiate feats for about 15 different deities. EDIT -- To clear up any possible confusion, for that 1/50 groups, those are some NICE feats (That Lliira one looks fun), but overall, the choices are too limited when compared to the other deitific items contained in the same book.

I agree with you. Those books are invaluable and I'd LOVE to see a 3.5 update of those as I found Faiths and Pantheons sorely lacking once you got past the major deities. And even with them, there was less info than the 2ed books had. Also a better picture gallery on some of the deities. I dislike the one for Torm as my first thought was that he was the dragon as the pic centered on the dragon, not him. And the "lesser" deities need a pic gallery of them as well so we know what they look like so we can better envision them.

A springboard for loads of campaigns. A book on current happenings in the Realms, basically 1001 adventure hooks for those lazy DM's like me. (Last year of a degree, short on time)

One that would give a full description of all the regions of the realms! 2- A binder with all the maps of the regions of the realms. REal Maps like the one in the Silver Marshes, that we can put together and use with the Hex sheets! 3- A book with most of the important characters of Faerun, Good or evil. With a description of what the look like, their stats and a brief history of who they are!
