| EvgO12-03-06, 05:49 AM | This is my first post and I wanted to share some of my idias with you guys. Hm. I'm running a campaign in FR (as usual) that is set in my own town of Fallenrock. The story is quite ordinary, but it has the flavour. Something began to spread across the world, tainting the people, strengthening the monsters. The archmages from New Netheril (with ressurected Karsus, in fact) understood that this is no good and sealed the area with a magical barrier, calling it Pandemonium. Inside was a small hamlet of Fallenrock, but it was quickly rebuilt in a massive fort. The town has it's own shield, provided by a mythalar, but it occasionally "flashes", creating some nasty effects. Simple people of the Realms do not even suspect of the New Netheril or Pandemonium. The city of Fallenrock is dividen in five districts, every one of them seperated by a magic wall from the others - in the center is a big five-towered castle. I'm using rules from Heroes of Horror, FRCS and a couple of other books. The campaign itself is very gothic, depressive and overall nasty. The Silver Guard (a regiment of Cormyr's Purple Dragons, sent to Pandemonium for good or bad deeds - noone really knows) guard the Collegium of Archivists - the researchers that are studying the Pandemonium. The Church of the Triad also tries to keep thing at peace, but that isn't that easy. The most dreaded thing in fallenrock is the night - noone knows, what can happen when the darkness covers the castle. It's set in autumn, but the winter is coming closer and closer. Oh, and teleportation and ressurection magic doesn't work the way it has to... If you want I can describe the characters involved, because I personally really love the guys - they are very good roleplayers and almost every character is tragic in some way with a couple of distinct characteristics. Or maybe I can say something about the campaign itself. |
| Dark Wizard12-03-06, 12:22 PM | Sounds like you're all on a one way trip to Ravenloft... ;) |
| EvgO12-03-06, 12:46 PM | Yah, the joke is, that I didn't know much about Ravenloft, when creatin' this. And Ravenloft is different...it's more open, it has werevolves and the dangers are no so obscured.. But duh, if Ravenloft is gothic & it's horror, that doesn't mean they'r the same. Anyways, the best of all is that my players really enjoy it and that's the main thing ^____^ |
| Ramenth12-03-06, 03:04 PM | Ooo. Actually, this sounds alot like the areas that are not the 'Lands of Man' in that serieis (Dragon Weather, Dragon Venom, ect). Its a good series, and a cool idea. |

And, I am sure Mystra would have a nice little place for me, where the two of us could have tea, an chat for a bit... -Or, the other most likely theory as to what would happen would be that, retaining some of my former divinity, I actually become some kind of minor demigod of magic. If this is the case, I would have other things to do than simply rule a little empire. |

If this is the case, I would have other things to do than simply rule a little empire. Don't forget crumpets...must have crumpets. Actually tho, if one goes the demi-god route, a little empire ruling seems fitting (more accurately, controlling the empire but delegate responsibilities to lesser beings, freeing us to pursue other goals). Afterall, we'd need a worshipper base. |
| EvgO12-05-06, 08:14 AM | Hm, actually Karsus's role here isn't very obvious and important - but to say the truth, he's not ruling anything. He is in charge of operations above the Pandemonium in the single city of New Netheril - and his motives are to redeem himself, to help cure some damage in the wave etc (= Mainly, the redeeming thing. Then he can pass on into other existence, demigod or no :) |
