One of my players is looking for his lost Thunder Twin. He can't find him, so the obvious answer is: he is on another plane.

I can fit this solution into the campaign, but it would be nice with some alternatives.

The question is:

Can various abjuration spells hide him from his brother (the twin is a 15th lvl wizard)? Would a Mordenkains Private Sanctum hide him? Would a Mind Blank? What about a Ring of Mindshielding?

Since thunder twin isn't a feat, it does not necessarily rely on magic, and therefore I am not sure if magic should be able to interfere with the ability...

What do you think?

hows about putting him in a totally alien environment far from the reality of Forgotten realms.....

I my oppinion, the ability of a thunder twin to lokate the other, while not magical, it is supernatural, not extraordanary.

If this mage thunder twin is trying to hide, he may want to block being detected from the other twin.
I would just assume that some item/spell/ combination of spells can be used, either magical or psionic. (I dont like psionics myself, but would include it for this)

idea for sample item
Broach of Thundertwin Shielding: This broach is a Psionic item made for the express perpouse of shielding onself from the detection ability of direction of ones Thundertwin. A compination of Psionic powers were used to create such an item. This broach only works for Thundertwins. Sense Link, False Sensory Input, Aversion

Truthfully, there are many answers for this.
The inside of this wizardly Dwarf can be extradimentional.
So, his house can be in downtown Waterdeep, but when he inside his house, it can be considered being on another plane.

"Ttonight, as you are standing third watch, you feel the long lost feeling of the presence of you twin. As you are searching the Cormantor forist for Drow, you feel a pull from the north west, you know your Twin is alive and walking Faerun. Before your watch is over, the feeling leaves. At least now you know where to look."

At this time the twin steped out to by some TP or other nesesities.

Put a non-detection amulet on him...

Or, better yet, stick him in a dead magic area.

There are ways to shield against various scrying spells, so it's not really a problem.

I think we need to know, is the twin hideing, or is someone else hideing him.

Also, if I'm thinking correctly, the locating ability of Thunder Twin does not work if one of them is on a different plane.

You are correct, friend Kobold. Page 38 of the FRCS says they have to be on the same plane.

Guys, the original poster did state that it was the obvious answer, he just wanted other options.

That is why i sugested "extradimentional" living space, so he can still be on Faerun and on another plane.

Ah, my bad. Then I fall back on my original ideas: an amulet of non-detection, or a dead magic area.

Another idea: all Alias clones radiate misdirection in a 30 foot radius. So have the twin be with one of those, and not knowing anything is up!

Its kind of a combination really. He is dominated and put under a geas spell to work for a Zhentarim wizard. So he does not want to escape, even though he is in effect a captive.
His captors are not able to, on a regular basis to cast mindblank, but spells of lower levels are an option.

Amulet of non-detection is a good possibility. If he can be concealed by normal magic.

I think an amulet of non-detection will work, at least to a point.

As it is not telepathy, spells such as mindblank would have no effect.

Perhaps, the amulet of non-detection raises the DC of the intuite detection by ten (ie a DC25 intuite direction check) to give the charicter some sort of chance. It should fail enough that the dwarf can't be pinpointed, but gives them a chance.

...you can even make him using (or having to use) that amulet of nondetection and not hiding from his brother voluntarily:
in the case that he has to hide from some powerful enemy, who (he blieves) employs divination spells 24/7 (zhentarim magelings taking shifts for example. he could have angered them tremendously somehow...); thus using the amulet - and beeing sadly aware that his brother will never again find him.
