| Simvail_tgw06-21-05, 07:50 PM | Major plot of the quest : The players (A Paladin of Torm, A Feral Sylvan Elf Fighter, A Karatur Elf Monk, and An Half-Giant from Al-Quadim Psychic Warrior) (Level 11) The Evils : A dark Oracle in a neer by keep at Eveningstar (priest of Cyric level 15) (Chapter 1) An Evil guild of Slavers in Calimport (Chapter 2) An Evil Drow Army in the Cormanthor (Chapter 3) The Dark Oracle (Lich) at undermountain (chapter 4) ??? (Chapter 5 to 8) An Oracle (1000 years before) a profecie about a paladin of torm (the player) and has splitted the profecy so that it would take place. The splitting was part of it. The Paladin will have to take a personal quest of retrieving all the profecie parts and get the profecie to work. (killing alot of cyric clergy goons are involved so the Paladin is blinded with avenging) Now my character are gone from ShadowDale and going to Tilverton (not in but refering has the neerest "town") I want them to enter Tilverton to rescue some children. I would use the shadowland field (Orientals adventures) mixed with the shadowplane. Making a twisted version of Tilverton (My players used to live in Tilverton in the 2nd ed (Different character tho)) Would anyone of you helps me with that sidequest ? Simon |
| Lashan06-22-05, 10:14 AM | What type of help do you want? Ideas? |
| Simvail_tgw06-22-05, 05:14 PM | Any Kind. I'm stuck at the hooking part. The children of the captain guard (purple dragon) have fleed the sight of their keepers inside Tilverton. I think I'll put the shadowland from Oriental Adventure. But I dunno if it will do. What do you think ? And does some other people have ideas ??? |
| Ssussunriyh06-23-05, 01:36 AM | According to the official storyline, Tilverton doesn't exist anymore. Something happened, and where the city used to be is now a gigantic crater filled with creepy black mist. The Purple Dragons and War Wizards have a camp set up nearby to keep an eye on the place, but nobody is allowed to go anywhere near it. Caravans and other road traffic have been diverted away from the city, for safety and to discourage curious lookie-looers who might get too close... |
| Ceridwenavery06-23-05, 08:50 AM | Given the current "condition" of Tilverton, your shadowland concept could work, but just the shadowplane would work as well. You could also take a look at the Shadow Glade stuff here on this website. I can't remember what part of the archives it would be stuck in now--it was a series of smaller articles all linked together, and I printed it off, but didn't note what section I downloaded it from. While the actual "glade" part might not fit, the concept of a bunch of wizards that tried to link the planet to the plane of shadows and now either want to suck in the whole world or want to get "cured" of their shadow would seem to fit the current "shadowy crater" of Tilverton just as well. You'll have to advance the Scouts and critters a bit (they are set up for lower level parties than you mentioned), but I believe somewhere in there one of the "sub-plots" with the wizards and their henchmen was that they grab folks and turn them into shadow-creature minions. Maybe the children didn't flee? Maybe they were carried off, or if they did flee, maybe they still got caught by the scouts and taken to the wizards. You can have the PCs in a race to get to the kid(s) before they can be "changed," or you can give a great moral quandary of what to do with one of the children that has been changed. And, hey, if I were running a cabal of wizards linked to the shadowplane, and my crew had already taken on a lich just to reach 11th level, then I'm thinking the wizards might just have some REALLY good relations with a Shadowdragon or two. Hey, the chief wizard just might be a shadowdragon in disguise manipulating the rest of the cabal to make the material plane a lot more like home sweet home. But, that's just me. ;) |
| Simvail_tgw06-23-05, 09:26 AM | That's a great Idea. But They are still in Chapter one ... They don't even know that I'm putting a Lich of cyric (or should I put a mummy) I'll put the Shadowland of Rogukan in that pit with the shadowplane mixed. The Idea of the shadowdragon is quite good also. Thanks (Any other ideas ? ) Simon |
| Ceridwenavery06-24-05, 05:40 PM | I, personally, wouldn't actually tag the Shadowlands into FR. To be honest, I am a diehard L5R fan, and to me, they come with a lot of baggage that wouldn't actually mesh all that well with the FR style. But, that's because I never thought Rokugan ever did justice to the real L5R. Certainly I can see where some of the critters would most definitely mesh well with the shadowplanes. But, the best thing about the Shadowlands in L5R is that the land itself is sort of "alive" and plotting against the PCs as much as the critters and Fu Leng are. I'm not sure that aspect would do as well with the overall FR melieu. Still, after I wrote the other idea, it occured to me that if you do have the lich before this issue, then maybe nasty clerical magic would be better suited to the shadow area. It is FR after all, SHAR and her crew could mesh well. Some of the "prestige Classes" for the Shar worshippers are just wonderful for that setting. |

Tilverton was IIRC just destroyed by a planar rift torn into the material plane to the plane of shadows... why not making Tilverton a natural gate to the plane of shadows? |
| Simvail_tgw06-27-05, 08:13 PM | That's what I want to do. But you know just bringing the pc into the plane of shadows without a little corruption from the land. It's a little boring. I had to get a system that fitted that corruption thing. Rokugan had one. I wanted to make my players "reborn" with new Prestige Classes. I made 2 of them Holy Avanger and Holy Fist, I will make the one for the fighter and an other for the psychic warrior. Simon |
| Simvail_tgw06-29-05, 09:58 PM | Ok so Tilverton for my game is : A new part of the shadowplane corrupted with EVIL. You gain the shadow trait if you are not protected. The Shadow Trait is the level of corruption you have (this part need to be refined) Neo Tilverton (City of the Shade) His controlled by a Shadowdragon and many Half-ShadowDragon are the clergy there (Church of Tiamat or any other evil dragon diety) Every day past in there has a Will Save 10 + number of days past there, or get a shadowtrait. (More you have shadow trait the more you become evil) The spell protection from evil grant a constant Will save of 15. (That's it for tonight tomorow there will be more) |

There is no such stuff included in the sourcebooks for Faerun... ;) If you want to include the Shadowlands TAINT, i advise you should be playing L5R or OA, but not FR... IMAO it's broken to make a portion of the Plane of Shadow as corrupting as Hades... BTW. Protection from Evil has a duration of 1 min./caster level... so it is useless... NOOB! Better use the info from MotP, if you run a campaign on the Plane of Shadow... :tantrum: |
| Simvail_tgw06-30-05, 10:37 PM | So Shadowland Trait is the deep corruption of the land. Just like in the Shadowland or in redsteel (from the 2e). I mixed both to be honest with everyone. Some spell work differently in this "Half Plane". Protection from evil last 1 day (any level) but it only affect the will save to resist shadow trait. Read the shadow plane for the other spell. Psionic powers are unchanged exept the one that work with lights(My light for example) they cost double to get the same effect. Corruption mutation : They begins at ShadowTrait 5 and you have an other one at every 5 more you get. Some may be benefic to have but the drawback is always bad. (Didn't make a list yet) Take those mutation has a magical sickness and Paladin are immune to that effect. Instead they gain chaotic evil aligment degradation -1/day and they gain shadowtrait. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Aligment in my games : neutral = 0,0 (where 0 = Law vs Chaos, Good vs Evil) Every major action a player do give him +x or -x on one or both aligment trait. Lawful = 10 to 20 Good = 10 to 20 Neutral = -9 to 9 Neutral = -9 to 9 Chaotic = -10 to -20 Evil = -10 to -20 ------------------------------------------------------------------------- (that's it for tonight) Simon |
| Simvail_tgw07-01-05, 06:53 PM | Use the tilverton from the 2nd Edition : All the city is twisted. The Tilver Keep is like a new one. There is starways to the sewers in many place. "Humans" lives in the sewers. ShadowTrolls and Many Shadows lives in the city, Many undead also live in the city and half-undead also (Read Dragon Magazine # 313) I'll also include a new race of "Human" that live in this Half-Plane. (It will be like ravenloft an Half-Plane, but it will be more affiliated with shadows) (That's it for today) |
| Old Sparky02-02-06, 09:10 PM | Tilverton was IIRC just destroyed by a planar rift torn into the material plane to the plane of shadows... why not making Tilverton a natural gate to the plane of shadows? Wouldn't it be cool if Tilverton wasn't destroyed at all, but only appears that way for all intents and purposes? I mean, what if Mask happened to take notice of the planar rift and decided to take advantage of it to steal a whole city, sucking into his realm in the Plane of Shadow? If that were the case, it'd certainly be of interest for him to hide its continued existance from the other gods (lest their pesky minions come trampling into his domain while he's out looking for other great stuff to steal). Would Mask have the power to actually conceal such a theft from other gods, thus leaving everyone to assume that Tilverton was actually destroyed since even the gods answer to divinations wouldn't clear things up? It'd be the perfect crime! (short of stealing back the Intrigue aspect of his portfolio from Cyric) |

It'd be the perfect crime! (short of stealing back the Intrigue aspect of his portfolio from Cyric) a perfect crime is one where the criminal doesn't get caught. if Mask stole a whole city, he would have to hide it someplace. logically, it would be somewhere on the plane of shadow where Mask himself resides (hides). would not the denizens of Tilverton not be able to reach out to their own gods through prayer and let them know they are now in a much darker land (hint hint, plane of shadow). or, wouldn't the townpeople be able to wander out into the plane where some, if they have some magic power could find a way to return to the material plane? that assumse that Mask will even allow the townpeople to live? they may have died in the event that ripped a hole in reality that could have allowed for Mask to steal away a whole town, or maybe he lets his servents kill everything in the town not native to the shadow plane. Mask should be too smart to keep hostages. |
| createvmind02-13-06, 08:32 PM | A very recent post from Mr. Ed Greenwood states that Tilverton is actually under the very watchful eye of the Shadovar and anyone of note, magic etc tramping about will likely be kidnepped with the quickness. Meaning after a good study of their capabilities are measured the appropiate force would move in and give them what for. You can use that, he also said it would be full of shadow creatures and chock full of undead, many former townspeople who died the grisly death. |
| Old Sparky02-14-06, 03:46 PM | Ed said that?? Tastey! |
