| Lana "Silvertongue"04-03-05, 03:16 PM | My group is trying to work out the "official" timeline while incorporating the three games. Baulders Gate lends itself to 73, year of rogue dragons, but none of the books detail a Iron crisis in BG. We are also curious where NeverWinter Nights, Shadows of Undertide and Hordes of the Underdark fall in the FR timeline and is it considered part of the cannon? |
| Kuje3104-03-05, 03:26 PM | The puter games, except for parts of them, are not canon. The original BG games take place earlier then 1373 since they have novels, which are canon, based on them. http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=books/fr/fictionlist |
| Iakhovas04-04-05, 08:14 PM | The Baldur's Gate game manual p.68 lists the game year as 1373 DR. This was latter corrected in some errata and the official date for the events of the novel and computer game is 1368 DR. |

Alternate realities are so much easier to deal with, plus any player that has read the books can't know everything because my world might have something a wee bit different, something that didn't happen. Makes a G.O.D's life so much simpler! |

Makes a G.O.D's life so much simpler! Hmmm I disagree with this. :) I've DM'd in FR for years and I've tossed EVERYTHING that I don't like that is canon both by TSR and WOTC. It's my setting and I do what I want with it, even though on the boards I usually answer questions with canon information because that is usually what people ask for. |
| Cristos Grimblade04-16-05, 01:10 PM | Actually I think you just agreed with me! I do the same thing that you do, but if I don't like something, or I feel that I wanna play something different I change it. That's the difference between a Prime World and an Alternate world to me. Game on, my man! :D |

| Kantor Brightblade04-17-05, 05:35 PM | Actually, AFAIK the BG books are canon...unless you are just referring to the Bhaalspawn aspect of the games. Since as many important historians have said, anything written or published by TSR or WOTC is considered canon. But, with regards to usage, you can do just as the previous posters have done-Toss out what you don't want to use and make up what you do want to use. It's like Pirates of the Carribean..."They're not so much rules as they are guidlines." SAVVY!! :schemes: |
