Timeline Question [Archive] - Wizards Community

10-29-05, 08:45 PM I'm new to the forums so this will be my first real post. :)

Alright so here is my question. How do I determine what day, month, and year it is right now? As in today? The reason I ask is because I know the time is set up so that its x many days in real time for every y many days in the Realms. Thank you in advance for any help. :)

I forgot the day and month but the current year in canon is 1374. :)

10-29-05, 09:56 PM Indeed. The "Last Mythal" novels occur during 1374 DR -- and Farthest Reach (the second book) -- ends in the month of Flamerule, the 3rd as I recall.

Also, if you take a look in Lost Empires of Faerun, specifically on pg. 85, you'll see that 1374 DR is also referenced as the current year.

10-30-05, 01:18 AM Thanks for the info. Does anyone know what the ratio is for time in real life against time in the Realms? For example a month in the realms is two in real life? Or is it the same? A day in real life passes then so does one day in the Realms?

10-30-05, 04:07 AM The FRCS states that the conversion is 5 months Real Time for every 2 months Game Time.

11-03-05, 09:59 PM THis is jsut one of the things I miss from the old (ancient?) version of the FR website - it listed the date and even the weather in Waterdeep (or am I dating myself again?). :P

Haha I was just about to post this myself. Whatever happened to that? I stopped playing DnD for like a year or two and when I came back, that stuff was gone. I used to love waking up, getting online and looking at the current Waterdeep weather and news to maybe give me some ideas for the game later on. Since most of my games were around Waterdeep quite often. Having the date, year and weather all there and updating was awesome. So why did they remove that?

Because it really wasn't Waterdeeps weather. It was seattles, if I recall right. :) Plus it was removed when they redid the web site.

Its too bad they turned the website from somthing roleplayers could use into pure unadulterated advertisements tho. :rolleyes:

Yeah, I agree. They are a business though, and do want their money. But it seemed like the site was much more RP friendly back in the day. Like there seemed to be a new Waterdeep news story like every day. I really liked that stuff. I would visit the site every single day just to read the new FR news and what not.
