1369 is probably right. through i'd read 1370 somewhere, but i haven't actually read the book yet. Might read when it's in paperback, but i actually haven't read any salvatore books since the silent blade, so i imagine i'd probably have some catching up to do, I'm not really such a fan.

Perhaps you'd have better luck finding an answer to this question on the Forgotten Realms Novels forum?

See Tom Costa's "Obould" piece in the novels section of the TSR website. The dating for 'Thousand Orcs' is 1371 DR.

With all due respect to Tom Costa, he must have just pulled that date out of the air. Per the novel, the events of The Lone Drow take place 10 years after the attack on Mithral Hall by the drow. You do the math.

...the reason for asking was that, upon reading the Forgotten Realms Setting core book, it mentions that the Silver Marches is under the threat of King Obould and his Orc hordes, that the populace of the Marches are forever fearful about the danger he might pose if ever he managed to gather sufficient forces. Now, it strikes me as being strange that this should be so if, only a couple of years earlier, Obould and his Orcs have gathered a force strong enough, with help from the Frost Giants, and backed by the drow and begun their raids.
To be honest, when I posted the thread, I expected the date to be either 1371 or 1372.
It strikes me that something's amiss. I want to run a game that coincides with events begun in Thousand Orcs but also want to remain true to the 'canon' work of the Core Book. Will I be able to do this...? Any help would be appreciated...
