| SyuveilDamiax10-22-03, 09:13 PM | I can't believe that anyone would fall for this. Forgotten Realms is an unoriginal setting ripped off from tolkien. That poor guy spent his entire life formulating an endless universe, while after he dies a group of no less than 50 people spend 5 years putting together something a quarter of the size, all ripped off from him. The guy was a genius. What really burns me is that you can't even rip it off right. Whats the ^&*#@ about elves being shorter than humans? The books are almost beyond mention. They're 15 pages of story padded out with ten adjectives or adverbs a sentence to 400 pages. I hate it and i want ot stab it |

| Rek010-22-03, 09:25 PM | Good job Dargoth. I really bugs me that some people still make threads like these. Remember, if you cant say anything nice, dont say anything at all ;) :) (or at least dont try to start flame wars.) By the way, dont suscribe here just to start poorly thoughtout arguments. |

| Harlamond10-23-03, 01:06 AM | Umm… yea… whatever bro. Have you ever played Forgotten Realms, how about Middle Earth or any pencil and paper RPG for that matter? Was Tolken the first with this so called original ideal of humans with pointy ears, I mean elves or was it stolen from some one else like most ideals that are in fantasy setting’s? |
| The White Sorcerer10-23-03, 01:43 AM | Originally posted by Harlamond Was Tolken the first with this so called original ideal of humans with pointy ears Definately not, since AFAIK Tolkien's elves didn't have pointy ears. Come to think of it, what do D&D elves and Tolkien elves have in common other than a long lifespan? Tolkien's elves don't have pointy ears, D&D elves do. Tolkien's elves are taller than humans, unlike D&D elves who are shorter than humans (except in FR, where they are equally tall). |
| Adrian Moonbow10-23-03, 02:21 AM | The first inkling of the Forgotten Realms took place back in 1967. That was MORE than 5 years before first publication!!! I could write more arguments to prove that poor soul wrong, but...  "If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything!" |
| Tempus66510-23-03, 03:46 AM | I actually like both the Realms and Tolkien´s work. :) Both are original fantasy worlds. |
