| Drance07-01-05, 05:21 PM | :D Nice! Thanks, Powers that Be at WotC, for giving this veteran gamer a nod and picking my entry for one of the top ten. That's a good feeling in and of itself. That being said...that Chamber of Eternal Sorrows sure is a good one! ;) |
| Gwydion_Storm07-01-05, 05:54 PM | It looks like there are a lot of good entries! Congratulations to everyone on the top ten! That said, you can’t go wrong voting for the Hag Lair. Vote for Hag Lair and all of your wildest dreams will come true! Oh yeah, and Lucinda offers her protection! :D |
| Drance07-01-05, 07:12 PM | :smirk: Not that I don't think I have a chance to win...but...er...ahem...any chances for prizes for runner up? How about for just getting into the top ten? Okay, the moment of reaching is over... VOTE ETERNAL SORROWS! |
| Gwydion_Storm07-01-05, 08:41 PM | Drance, You and I should get prizes just for our acts of self-promotion! :D |
| Drance07-01-05, 11:03 PM | Yes, indeed, there is something to be said about shameless self promotion, is there not? |
| Zanan07-02-05, 04:03 AM | Rest assured laddies ... no-one of the judges knew whose entry they checked, unless they compared all the 83 entries with those on the boards (which did not include those mailed to the Wizards). Given the time we had, I'd doubt that though. BTW, since I already cast my vote during the judgement, I'll leave the voting for number one spot for others. Good luck! |
| Ohtar Turinson07-02-05, 08:32 AM | Woah. Auditorium shot up fast. |
| Strike Force Zedd07-03-05, 01:51 AM | We likess um Hag Lair...we givess its our votess! And Gwydion, we's still comess for yous and yous friendss soon! |
| Drance07-03-05, 09:38 AM | GO CHAMBER OF ETERNAL SORROWS! :cheer: :bounce: :w00t: :dancin: :ayyyy!: Hmmm, what can I do to convince people that my room is the best? :plotting: I will fight for votes :fight!: I will argue for votes :teach: I will whip the mob into a frenzy ...then they will  to me and I will win! :evillaugh |
| Slime Lord07-03-05, 02:32 PM | I have to say I went for the Temple. It was a difficult one with the Light as it's compeitor. I don't watn to see a bigtime battling one win because you'll have plenty of that in Undermountain as it is. Figured if you can get a coin of a dead goddess to grant you a decent magic item, I say go for it. But, congrats to all who have be nominated. I did read through all of them and found all of them to be different then the next. Tyche has something to do with this one for one of you and all of you ;) |
| Gwydion_Storm07-03-05, 09:09 PM | Gaa! Strike Force Zed! I can't seem to get rid of those buggers. Oh well, at least they voted for the Hag Lair, so they can't be all bad, right? Right? :) |
| Gwydion_Storm07-03-05, 09:10 PM | (Accidental Double Post) |
| conjurer_lord07-03-05, 10:40 PM | I gave the Ghost of Justice my vote, as its nice to find an ally(?) in Undermountain. But all of them were excellent. I loved the humor in Auditorium and Hall of Foolish Nobles. |
| Slime Lord07-03-05, 10:42 PM | I gave the Ghost of Justice my vote, as its nice to find an ally(?) in Undermountain. But all of them were excellent. I loved the humor in Auditorium and Hall of Foolish Nobles. Yes, the "Talking out of their rear end" effect is nice. |
| ballonger07-04-05, 02:19 AM | I liked most of the entries. I liked the Hall of Foolish Nobles a lot. Also the Hall of Light Hearts. However The Undead Wish is the only "complete" room, and has in my opinion the greatest versatility, since it opens up for both serious and humorous roleplaying, and doesn't have one way of sollution that is correct, but rather just give several options of actions to take. It also has the best over all Dungeons & Dragons- and Undermountain-feel to it (well thought through, realistic background, balanced encounters and rewards and so on), and therefor it gets my vote. It doesn't really matter to me which one wins. The Undead Wish is the room I will be using in my campaign. So, here's a toast to all those of you who got in the top ten: Good work, folks! And to whomever wrote The Undead Wish: In my book you've already won. *tips his hat* /Finn |
| Alteri07-04-05, 10:55 AM | I gave the Ghost of Justice my vote, as its nice to find an ally(?) in Undermountain. But all of them were excellent. I loved the humor in Auditorium and Hall of Foolish Nobles. I have to agree. All were well thought out, and carefully designed, but I like the idea of having a sanctuary, and ally as well, in such a forbidding place. |
| Niaslos FireCrow07-04-05, 12:51 PM | Mmmmm, it's a tough choice between The Ghost of Justice and The Undead Wish but I saw one error in ghost of justice (24000 Xp cost to the sword) and possibly a second (the ghost seems to do fairly odd thing like bull rush and etc. I don't have my books so I'm not sure about this one). Undead Wish is a bit more complete in it's description and more versatile. It's really a heart-tearing decision but I chose Undead Wish. Creator of Ghost of Justice, you got my respect for designing a really nice encounter, creating a recurring NPC (inteligent weapon) that could really add to any campaign. Used with the book Weapons of Legacy it could be even better! It could also make a really good "promotional" encounter for this book and if I was at WotC I would surely chose this one. Sniff, I hate to have to chose between two so good encounters... :weep: |
| Epicfetus07-04-05, 02:32 PM | I'm a bit proud, even though I'm losing, I get the impression that people are choosing between mine and another one, then choosing the other one. guess which is mine, if you'd like, and i'll point out the most glaring error in it ;) |
| Niaslos FireCrow07-04-05, 05:59 PM | Are you The Ghost of Justice designer? |
| JasonShaffer07-05-05, 10:26 AM | I am the designer of Ghost of Justice. I appreciate the positive feedback (and the note on design errors ;) ) ... I love the idea of earning allies, especially in a place of darkness. This ally has a strong personality of his own, which creates wonderful role-playing opportunities and makes sure that the PCs don't abuse the power he can bring to the group. Thanks for everyone who contributed and voted. Let others know about top ten contributions and make sure you vote :) |
| EclecticPR07-06-05, 08:36 PM | I wish I was in a group to play "The Auditorium". I think it has wonderful potential because, like, who doesn't like a party? If you handle it with a little panache it could be spookier. "Uncle's gettin' the Willies." -Jackie Chan Mysteries   |
| Drance07-08-05, 02:10 PM | Well, I didn't get the win, but I am nothing if not a gracious loser. Good work to all who made the top ten, it was an honor to be listed among you. I daresay that all of these rooms deserve to be played, and it is a testament to everyone in the ten that the rooms are indeed playable stuff. And above all, congrats to the designer of Undead Wish! Good show, friend. A very worthy room won. |
| sus32307-08-05, 03:05 PM | Let me add my congrats to everyone who entered and especially those who were in the top ten. Undead Wish and my entry "Auditorium" were neck and neck there for a while, so I had a blast checking the site to see the latest results. It was fun just to enter! Great job on Undead Wish, I am going to use it in my upcoming dungeon crawl game. Thanks to everyone who voted for Auditorium. |
| Morak Kilkaine07-08-05, 04:21 PM | Congrats bro we knew you had it from the start. See you soon. Morak Kilkaine |
| Stewartwi07-08-05, 04:26 PM | Gratz on winning JPM. I won't use your real name so that you won't get stalked. :-p We love you bro now bring yourself back home and run this encounter for us dude. Everyone sends their congratz man. Email me dude. -West |
| LichSathas07-08-05, 05:52 PM | Wow...nice to come home from work and see this. Grats to all those that made the top ten. Really great encounters (that I'll most likely shamelessly steal and tweak when the situation is right to present these awesome encounters lol ). Thanks for the complements on my room (Undead). It's so hard to put everything you want into something and squeeze it into 2k words or less (and if you count I think I edited down to right at 2k exactly lol). I think my original draft came out to almost 3k because I had a lot of other things going on in the room, but I had to tighten it down to just the important stuff and get to the jist of what I wanted the encounter to be (basically a brain teaser, a moral decision by the PC's, and the possibility to create an enemy(s) and/or friend all in one). I liked the idea of a Curst being erratic and CN so DM's had the choice to play him violent, sullen and withdrawn, or any other way or just plain roll randomly. Not to mention the thought of a Genie being so disgruntled and irritated because one being had been pestering him for years and couldn't get a simple riddle right made me giggle a little. Anyways if I didn't vote for myself =p Auditorium and Fortune had my vote. Very interesting, simple, yet fun encounters. Good Job guys. Sathas |

Sathas I liked Fortune the most, not to say yours wasn't good, because it incorporated a "Dead" deity. You have to be a priest/cleric of her in order to use the coin and all this other fun stuff, not something you see to much unlike the Undead ;) lol. |
| Ohtar Turinson07-09-05, 11:15 AM | Thank you everyone who voted for The Temple of Fortune's Rebirth. I had fun writing that, going through old 2ed material to find slogans from Tyche's religion (I was very glad I had paid for the .pdf of Faiths and Avatars) More importantly: Congrats to Sathas for winning the contest, and sus232 for nearly doubling the votes I got and everyone else for getting this far. My metaphorical hat is off to all of you. :) |
| Krash08-10-05, 09:57 PM | Thank you everyone who voted for The Temple of Fortune's Rebirth. I had fun writing that, going through old 2ed material to find slogans from Tyche's religion (I was very glad I had paid for the .pdf of Faiths and Avatars) I voted for yours also. It was by far the most Realmsian of the entries. Well done, even if you didn't win. -- George Krashos |

| Tailsmanzii08-25-05, 03:31 AM | Well I tried myself to get in to the Undermountain room contest but for some reason my submition did not post on time or never got to the proper pepole. Who knows I did like the one that was chosen over the others however I whould have liked to seen my own post up. Also I would like to say a word or two, I have enjoyed playing the D&D game for well over 25 years and I remember talking with pepole from TSR about ideas to improving the product as well as new ideas for modules at conventions during game testing and other events. When Hasbro took control of the D&D brand many of the ideas that I myself had thought about were put into print , I do not think for a minate that I was the only one who had the idea or do I take any of the credit for making it happen. Many of the changes have been great for the game the 3.5 Role books are great as well as the many fresh ideas and info that is seeing print, personaly I have rekindeled my interest in the game and I still have new ideas that I would like to make to improve the game. One of the things I have been working on was a Return to Undermountain 3.5 guide that was till I saw someone else had started it Congrats to Matthew Sernett I think I have a little more done than he as my work has been going on for a little over a year now detailing almost every room on level one and about 50% of level two. So when I saw the contest I got a little excited, I am not looking for money or fame mabe a thank you and my name in print as a contributer, so I sent a e-mail asking it to be forwared to him to let him know. I am not sure he has seen it or even know about my work, however I do feel I am on to something and wanted to share it with him I like the ideas he has made for the most part and added them to what I allready did and have gone with the same story line so if you read this Matt and would like to see what I have done I would be happy to show you. You can contact me anytime vea my e-mail dheck03@yahoo.com I hope you do it will save you alot of work and you might my idea it is not going to kill you to look at it anyway. |
