If you do, I wanna know: 1) How many there are? 2) What they're doing? 3) Are there any leaders among the orcs there? 4) What are the Zhentilar doing to get them back? 5) Any important stuff you think I should know. Xae'an 07-06-03, 09:50 PM	They are about 6% of Thesks total population, about 51000 orcs live in Thesk. They came were left in Thesk by the Zhents to help against the Tuigan horde. They are generally treated well by the human Theskans, so they are propably no longer loyal to Zhentil Keep since in Thesk they blend into human society better in any other civilized region. Captain Grattz (LN male orc fighter 14) is the leader of the orcs in Phsant. Sergeant Kraansh, the leader of the town watch in Phent (N male orc fighter 9) is also an authority figure among the Theskan orcs, as well as captain Gurzze (LN male orc fighter 12) There are no signs that the Zhents do anything to get them back, but there are also none that they don't. Orcs in Thesk are not generelly evil but rather tend to neutral alignment. They are lawful rather than chaotic, as this fits better into Thesks social structure. They sometimes have (voluntary) human mates and therefore there is larger number of half-orcs in Thesk than in other countries. Orcs are more often found among the soldiers than among the merchants of Thesk for reasons quite easy imaginable...

Zoticus 07-07-03, 12:25 AM	Also, it is important to note that the orcs that the Zhents traditionally have used are Gray Orcs, not the Mountain Orcs that typically make the bulk of the orc hords. There is a slight difference in their stats. In some places in Thesk, the orcs are hailed as heroes.
oldschooler 07-15-03, 04:58 PM	It is rumored that the Zhentarim are attempting to "reactivate" their former orcish mercenaries & their descendants, the Zhents hoping to get a foothold along the Golden Way... The orcs, however, are generally happy with their life in Thesk, where they are held as heroes and accepted as more-or-less equals to most other residents. But it is concievable that the Zhents will get through to SOME of them!... At the same time, I have seen evidence that the Red Wizards have created or discovered a process by which orcs (or other available creatures...) are transformed into tougher, more irratable soldiers. I suspect that orcs (and others...including PCs!) have been apprehended, smuggled into Thay, and sold on the slave market - and that some of these have undergone the transformation into Blooded Ones (Unapproachable East supplement). So, quite a few Theskian orcs have been rising up against local authorities or disappearing with very little clue as to their whereabouts... Have fun with it!
