Hey all,

I'm planning on running my group through a FR "campaign" (I'm probably going to be using the new mega modules).

I was going to start w/ Twilight Tomb and move into Sons of Gruumsh.

Any thoughts, comments or advice on either of these two modules?

I eventually plan on getting them into Cormyr: Tearing of the Weave and it's follow ups.

Sons of Gruumsh is awesome. It can be inserted as simply as: Orcs are raiding the land. PCs go and attack. Aside from that, by the time you're finished with Twilight Tomb, you and your players will have fleshed out a better bridge to the next module, I'm certain. It might be as simple as inserting some orc encounters in Twilight Tomb that somehow lead the PCs to Xul Jarak.

I don't own Twilight Tomb, though. Can't help you there. Sounds like a great adventure path.

The thing with the two modules is that they are set in two regions that lie rather far apart.

I try. Seriously though, you get what a 16pg adventure for 10 bucks. They have got to be kidding

I have them both

only read the Twilight Tomb adventure and it's very nice but I dont sincerely think you can match them both easily because they are in two regions far from each other (Aglarond and Moonsea)

I prefer to use the Twilight Tomb and after continue with Cult of The Dragon quest (see the plot hooks) to somewhat continue with the adventure Pool of Radiance attack on Myth Drannor after

I will keep Sons of Gruumsh for another campaign

my two pieces of copper ;)

Yes, I noticed that by looking at a map afterwards. If I have the party hop on a boat/ship of some sort and go across the Sea of Fallen Stars, it's not too bad a journey. Have them do a little adventuring on the way, drop some hints about the SoG stuff, should be alright, I suppose.

Actually, after reading some other threads on the FR board, I may have them find a portal that will take them part of the way there. I ran the scenario by one of the players, and he was all for it. He even said that he would be willing to do an overland journey (but I think he's looking for MASSIVE XP).

So, I guess my next question is, does anyone know of any portals/gates in the Yuirwood area that would come out near Cormyr/Moonsea/Melvaunt?

yes there's one in the yuir wood that can get you to one by the great dale that can get you to cormyr and half the rest of toril.

it's in a druids circle as far as i remember!

I would just create one - it stands to reason that Cormanthyr would have had an ancient portal to the Yuirwood in order to interact with the Star Elves.

The only problem is the date your campaign is set in - you wouldn't want your PCs to leave the nice quiet Yuirwood and wind up smack-dab in the middle of monster-infested Myth Drannor!

Or would you.....

Hey, TPK is ok with me!:evillaugh:

BUT, I was thinking Cormyr, not Cormanthyr...but Thar or one of the Dales would work just as well.

My main goal is to get them from Yuirwood to Melvaunt to Cormyr (withOUT kicking too many levels).

Mistledale is near Myth Drannor, and the Moonsea Ride runs right through there on its way to Cormyr. Its very close, indeed.

You could even have an adventure or two in Mistledale on the way....

Nothing to level by, but sometimes a little 'filler' between modules is nice.

just let them meet with a " master of the yuirwood" and your portal problem ist solved

Here's my .02 cents (I've run both adventures a couple of time now in PbP and once through tabletop). Feel free to move the locations about a bit if it serves your purposes. I ran both in the North almost seemlessly. Change Mourel from a rebel star elf to an imprisoned Vyshaan Lord and set Twilight Tomb in the northwestern High Forest. Then have the orogs rising as a threat to Obould's rule in the Spine, possibly even having Obould himself sponsor the quest. Or have the noble children be from Mirabar or Sundabar and it fits remarkably well. If you were feeling especially ambitious you could set Tearing of the Weave in Leilon along the Sword Coast with the group venturing into the Mere of Dead Men. It works rather well... the problem will really crop up once you get into the Shadowdale module as I can't imagine being able to move that one around at all.

$.02 are always welcome!

I considered moving it, but the way the characters have set themselves up, they are all from somewhere around the Yuirwood area or the Moonsea/Great Dale area.

I'm leaning in 2 ways. One is (as was suggested to me), have the portal in Yuirwood actually serve more than one function, and have the be able to take it to another area (and with this, I would have them contracted by the Harpers to retrieve the Grail, just as a little background), or they could just "hoof it" to the Melvaunt area. I had toyed with the idea of having them get jobs as hands on a ship, to take them across the Sea of Fallen Stars, and perhaps have them run into some pirates along the way. Again, nothing major to boost levels, just some fun "filler".

I'm currently running Sons of Gruumsh for my group. I started the campaign in Melvaunt. I used Scourge of the Howling Horde as their first adventure and then the mini adventures in the Melvaunt area from Mysteries of the Moonsea to tie into Sons Gruumsh.

I'd like to do the Tearing of Weave but my players will probably be to high of level. Three of the five characters are already 5th level.
