| Triton09-03-03, 06:29 PM | FR 1e Undermountain was a build yourself site. FR 2e Undermoutain was the defacto dungeon. I think everyone campaigned there at least once. What about Undermountain 3.5e? Is there going to be one? Should there be one? What should be in the 3.5e Undermountain? What would change?:fight!: |
| Iakhovas09-03-03, 07:24 PM | Personally, I would vote against an Undermountain 3.5. There are plenty of other dungeons in the Realms that could be fleshed out before re-releasing something we already have. |
| TinySilverChalice09-03-03, 07:48 PM | Funny, my group is currently running through undermountain... our fourth party to do so. Since most monsters from 2ed are available in 3.0/3.5, there's not much work for the DM. We love it, but we're just chaotic like that. :P Please do it again! YAY! |
| Aumer of Waterdeep09-03-03, 08:06 PM | I would love to see a remake of Undermountain, with all of the new tricks and traps that 3.5 has to offer!! |
| Triton09-03-03, 08:56 PM | It's not republishing. Undermountain was always suppose to be a dynamic environment. Hallastar always changed things. It was one of the fundamentals of the dungeon. No maps were reliable, no experiences were canon, no two trips the same. Hallastar has since been kidnapped, sent to Hell on a diefic mission, and been exposed to the power of the dark weave. Do you seriously think this does not change how Undermoutain is? So is it enough to revisit Undermountain? |
| Herr Doktor09-03-03, 09:36 PM | Originally posted by Triton So is it enough to revisit Undermountain? I think so. Anyway... it's going to happen. Rich Baker mentioned that a Waterdeep and Undermountain sourcebook would indeed appear on storeshelves everywhere in the not-so-distant future. I believe it was on the Ask Rich Baker thread, perhaps the one on the old boards, I can't remember. |
| Dargoth09-03-03, 09:44 PM | I wouldnt mind seeing a "Dungeon" book Ideally the book would be split in 2 and detail 2 Dungeons in diffrent parts of Faerun For example "Dungeon" Book 1 would Have Undermountain and the Ruins of Myth Drannor, 2 dungeons far apart from each other this would make the book useful to more DMs a plain Undermountain source book would really only be useful for those running campaigns in Western Faerun. As for Undermountain, I wouldnt be suprised if the Shades take an interest in Skullport, it is after all an Old Netherese outpost |

| Herr Doktor09-03-03, 10:44 PM | I'd love to see products like that ... but I think those would count as adventure modules, and WoTC seems to have given up on any more realms based products of that sort. |
| Faraer09-04-03, 11:45 AM | In order to actually advance the state of Realmslore -- and to sell as more than a rules upgrade to those with the original -- a new Undermountain product would have the published three levels and more levels too -- the 9 main levels and 12 sublevels are fully developed though unpublished. (The spurious levels in the second Undermountain box are minor sublevels of some kind.) But I'd like to see the Dungeon of the Crypt as much -- Waterdeep's other dungeon complex, which is at least partially developed as well. Rich Baker didn't say a Waterdeep+Undermountain was happening, just that it was possible. That would take a 600-page book, of course. |
| Triton09-04-03, 11:51 AM | What I had in mind was similar to what was published in 2e. First a book Undermoutain. It would revisit Halastar and give him his 3.5 epic stats post Elminster in Hell. Halastar is now sane thanks to Mystra, who also revealed that Halastar is at least partially a Chosen of Mystra. The book should also restate Halastar's apprentices: Nandel Greenward, Trobriand, Muiral, Arcturia, any others. The book should also give us an idea of Halastar's new goals beside the destruction of the Twisted Rune. A sane Halastar is quite different from the "Crazed Mage of Undermountain". After this they could be nice enough to publish some Undermountain modules, if appropriate.:D |
