Hey everyone. Lately my group has been using the water deep city from 2nd edition. The map is massive, and the resources in it make for a good time. We were think about trying out the 3.5 Forgotten realms. We already play with 3.5 materials. But we use alot of 2nd edition campaign settings for maps and non-combatant NPC's. I was wondering if they made a new map for waterdeep. If so, is it still as big as the 2nd edition. And any recommendations on what books to spend the money on and which ones not to?

The 3.5e City of Splendors tome has updated maps for Waterdeep included inside.

But be aware, in City of Splendor the map is broken up in sections depicting the different wards and they are tied into the book as normal pages, so no huge, updated Waterdeep map. But the book is great nevertheless (although I do not know if it is of any use to you as you already own the 2nd edition box, I was not able to compare!)
Hope this helps.

The maps in the new book aren't as useful, IMHO. I still prefer the maps from either the Box set or Volo's Guide.

The 3e maps of the city are also available online, so I imagine you could stitch them together. They do have many more locations than the 2e maps.

Also, the second Waterdeep web enhancement includes a map of the Waterdeep region, updated from Dragon #128 (or #127, I can never remember).
