| Triton12-06-05, 09:06 AM | How great would it be if we chose the topic for one sourcebook a year. Nominate topics and vote on them online one year, and have it published the following December. The winning nomination is given and early copy and publishes a online review. I would love to see a sourcebook on the Yeminals. The true origin of Toril's dwarves, a chapter on the other residents of the mountians (such as giants, dragons, goblins, and men), and a chapter with some 3.5 edition looks at Kara-tur, Zakahara, and the Horde lands. |
| Krash12-06-05, 05:52 PM | With no disrespect intended, I'm assuming you mean the Yehimal Mountains. And a single sourcebook on an outlying mountain range on the extreme southeastern borders of Faerūn is a very unlikely project. Similarly, a vote over the internet is not necessarily an indicator of a good product or even more importantly, a profitable product. We are the vocal minority and not representative of FR fans the world over. But I do like your idea! :) -- George Krashos |
| LucyWanabe12-06-05, 06:04 PM | I would love, love, LOVE to see a new, updated, 3.5 sourcebook about Kara-Tur, including alternate base classes (samurai, anyone?) and the gods of Kara-Tur. :D |
| Triton12-06-05, 06:27 PM | You are 100% right Krash. Not likely to be done and even 200 pages could only touch the tip of the Yeminal Mountains. But source books don't have to tell the whole story, only enough to give you a taste and start the imagination filling in the spaces. As for not likely. The idea of people submitting ideas for a campaign world and getting WotC to create all the material to fill it out is just as unbelieveable, but someone at WotC thought different. I agree that it probably won't ever happen. But, this site is full of people wishing for more material. Some requests are eventually filled, but many have not yet been. But this thread is just to hear what people would want if they could, not some believe that it will actually come about. |
| Borris12-06-05, 06:38 PM | I doubt WotC will determine the topic of a book they're going to take one year to produce based on an online poll. I don't even think it would be a wise marketing decision. But it's still nice to dream about the future Forgotten Realms we want to see. Personally, I'd really like a book about the Cold/Bloodstone Lands: Impiltur, Damara, Vaasa, and maybe the Great Glacier, Sossal, and Narfell. And of course, I'd really love a Player's Guide to Toril, with info on Kara-Tur, Maztica, and Zakhara. |
| Mr.Sinister12-07-05, 12:39 PM | As far as wishful thinking goes, I'd like to see products revolving around Anauroch, Cormyr/Sembia and the Dalelands. |
| LucyWanabe12-07-05, 02:16 PM | More info on Lantan. All I've got is that goofily small section on it in the FRC. if there more info in other books, someone tell me please? Oh, and definitely updated stuff on Maztica and Zakhara. In-depth information on Chult would be fantastic. |
| squidfur-12-07-05, 04:49 PM | I could easily go for a book about the Cold Lands. I'd also like to see followers of Helm, in particular, get some more coverage, as well as the monk orders. |
| BrianCritchley12-07-05, 04:55 PM | it'd be an intresting idea but they'd have to make it a multiple choice poll so as to make it most useful. a simple poll of what do you want to see next? a: dalelands b: cormyr c: kara-tur would be intresting. personally I think a Kara-Tur book would be cool, as they could take the oppertunity to produce an 3.5 update for OA. |
| GothicDan12-07-05, 06:39 PM | First, update every place in Faerun, and add new information that wasn't existent in old lore, as well as detailing places in Faerun that weren't very well detailed (or at all detailed) in previous editions. Then, maybe, update some of the other continents. |
| Mr.Sinister12-07-05, 07:03 PM | First, update every place in Faerun, and add new information that wasn't existent in old lore, as well as detailing places in Faerun that weren't very well detailed (or at all detailed) in previous editions. Then, maybe, update some of the other continents. My thoughts exactly, GothicDan. I feel that Faerūn should get the attention, not other settings that were introduced in the FR because it had the spotlight at that time and would sell better that way. I know that many board members like Kara-Tur and Maztica, and Zhakara, to each is own, but to me they're just add-ons that will never be used in one of my campaings. Focus on Greenwood's Realms is what I like. |
