Certainly there is a rogue or three out there who has done some professional research on the subject. Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Money in Realms does get you power, purchases friends, and gets you want you want done. Not to mention gets you killed, slaved, captured, beheaded, aten, stolen, list goes on. I've never thought about "Who" though...

Kuje31 01-10-05, 12:43 PM	Mirt the Moneylender is one I'd add. Elminster probably has wealth all over the place. The nobles of Waterdeep are very wealthy as well. As does probably most of the well established rulers or the organizations behind the rules, etc.
ruleslawyer 01-10-05, 01:00 PM	The members of the Council of Six (Amn). Syl-pasha Ralan Pesarkhal (Calimshan). The Grand Yrshelem of the Rundeen (Tashluta and other points south). I'd say these are the wealthiest "private" individuals in the Realms; the Southlands have always been represented to have vast sums of wealth in the hands of a privileged few, and the above-mentioned individuals have parlayed their wealth into massive power, which should give an indication of how substantial that wealth is in the first place!
GothicDan 01-10-05, 02:02 PM	I was considering the leader of Calimshan, but how much of that wealth would one truly call his when the Twisted Rune is pretty much in control of the entire nation - or could be, if they wanted to be bored. With that being said, I would put Rhaungaun near the top of the list, since the Twisted Rune controls a great many of the nobles of that ancient, decadent land, and he is the head Runemaster.

Green Giant 01-10-05, 10:36 PM	Grand Nawab Kara Jeratma who leads the council of merchants in Durpar is also the richest woman in Durpar. Her chaka (trading house), according to 2e Shining South was said to be worth in the tens of millions of gold pieces.

Wow.....I think you just took every loophole and kicked it in the ass, Simbul. LOL. I think we need to establish a few guidelines regarding wealth. Are we talking sheer liquid assets, total GP value of magic items, what role do artifacts play in determining wealth, what of land and resources? Does a leader of a nation automatically count the GNP of that nation as his wealth? What rules are we playing by guys?

Tamsar 01-14-05, 04:04 PM	I vaguely recall that a gnome or maybe halfling Gem Cutter (who is infact the owner of premier jewel mining operation) was one of the richest personages in Faerun worth tens if no thundred of millions worth og GP's. May have been from Empire of Sands. Sorry if thats bit vague but its been a while since i've read some of early FR stuff.
