I recently began DM'ing a campaign in the Realms. I need to determine the weather for the area (the Vast) where the PC's will be. The new FR campign book (3.0) speaks only in generalities about the weather of particular regions, and doesn't contain any tools for ascertaining weather.
I would like to minimize the amount of time I have to spend determining this particular aspect of my campaign. Can anybody point me to a resource for this?
I would prefer something that can be done by computer but a simple chart (such as those used to determine the height and weight of PC's when you roll them up) would be OK, too.

The 3.5 DMG on pages 93 and 94 has some stuff on weather including a table on random weather.

It's up to you to determine if a region is going to have snow fall or rain, however.

The Vast is a cold place, all in all, so opt for the colder sorts of precipitation: frost, snow, sleet/hail, et cetera. You'll also need to make a judgement call depending on the current date in your campaign.

Herr Dokter,
Is the weather language in the 3.5 DMG any better than the 3.0 DMG? I had found that section in the DMG 3.0 but thought it was inadequate. It provides odds for precipitation (and it's too simple; there are more than three diffferent types of climates in the Realms), but says nothing about temperature.
I'm looking for something like the following: median low and high temperatures in Mirtul are X & Y, randomly determine whether temps are above or below average, and then determine by how much rolling d12, 4d4, etc.

Ahh, no, it does not get any more specific.

I remember somehow calculating exact temperatures before... But that was for the Silver Marches region, so that info may be supplied for that region specifically in that regional sourcebook, or I may have just made it up.

Just a thought on your problem with the weather...

Next time you need the exact temps and whatnot for your game, say this:

"The weather today is..." <Insert your favourite weather or temp here>.

That usually works for me...
