| Board_Rider07-23-04, 01:22 PM | This may be waaay off the mark with what you normally read as far as postings go but hey, c'mon, sometimes ya gotta think outside the box. Anyway we, meaning myself and one other person, got really bored during one session (read: began to drink) and began to think of odd things that went unaswered in the FRCS. Answer some of the following, I would like to hear all of your opinions. 1. When one of your PC's head into to town and go looking for a "good time" which invariably leads to him having a kid, but 9 months later he is long gone is the woman able to get Welfare of some sort? 2. You are 5 and you are climbing a tree and fall breaking your arm. Do you a go to a temple of Tyr, listen to the gospel and get healed or does one simply make a sling? In short what is the best "Hospital" that a commoner can go to? Is there Medi-Cal? 3. How is the voting done? I mean I know in some areas there isn't any voting and there are power struggles and all that but in semi-structured areas how does one vote. 4. Is there such a thing as food stamps? 5. Does anyone try to balance a budget? Is there a budget to balance? 6. Since Toril is the Main continent it must export some goods. What are they and where do they go? 7. How do citys build and grow when there are seemingly millions of dungeons below ground? How is that stable? You can add questions of your own, of course, write that you think this post is stupid ( but why waste your time-- be constructive ) or just read and hit the "back" button. But remember this is a family board...so be nice. HA! |
| Monsoon2807-23-04, 02:12 PM | 1. With all of the adventurers out there, Insurance can now be bought at a low month cost, for 'Adventurer's Baby Coverage'. 2. Go from temple to temple looking for the best deal, then sell my older sister into slavery to the nearest Cyrist! :smirk: 3. Good 'ole papyrus and a wooden box, of coarse vote regulators wear amulets of True Seeing to avoid Stuffing the balot situations. 4. No not at all it's a horrible idea! 5. What merchant isn't balancing a budget, come on really! Now Politicians that's another answer, though they do try! ;) 6. Lots of Export! Silks from Kara-Tur to ?? the name escapes me at the moment, Flying Carpets from Zakhara to Calimshan, Spices and Tabacco from Maztica to Amn, just about anything exotic from other Spheres to Realmspace via Tethyr, Waterdeep, Baldur's Gate. Tons of stuff too much to list! 7. Magic! and lots of it!! Forget the dungeons think of all that Underdark thats down there!! I'm wondering if the centre is hollow like in Sir Doyle's: Lost World? Enjoy! |

When one of your PC's head into to town and go looking for a "good time" which invariably leads to him having a kid, but 9 months later he is long gone is the woman able to get Welfare of some sort? No, I don't think there will be. However, there might be whole family trying to take you in, and perhaps do a sword-point wedding. 2. You are 5 and you are climbing a tree and fall breaking your arm. Do you a go to a temple of Tyr, listen to the gospel and get healed or does one simply make a sling? In short what is the best "Hospital" that a commoner can go to? Is there Medi-Cal? You don't get healing spells for free, thats for sure. You may get a sling, but unless you give a little coin there is not much you get for nothing in the realms. 3. How is the voting done? I mean I know in some areas there isn't any voting and there are power struggles and all that but in semi-structured areas how does one vote. I can't really think of a single big city where there is voting. Small areas, small villages and such may vote for a major, but it would only be by raising your hand, or doing a "Aya!" / "Nay!" 4. Is there such a thing as food stamps? No, but there is such a thing as bark on trees. And I think thats free. 5. Does anyone try to balance a budget? Is there a budget to balance? Yes, there are soldiers to fight for you, and roads for joggers to jog on and doggies to dog on, all of whom must be paid for. So yes, the Lords and Ladies of each realm must balance a budget. 6. Since Toril is the Main continent it must export some goods. What are they and where do they go? There is little export to places outside the realms, and little import also. But the few who do, go either south, east or west. Each of these places has something Faerunites may want. . How do citys build and grow when there are seemingly millions of dungeons below ground? How is that stable? Underdark lies miles below the ground. Random dungons often lie inside a mountain or is buildt by crafters. London is full of tunnels and such, and I don't see Big Ben sinking. |

Only from the most enlightened governments, maybe Silverymoon. 2. You go to private healers, herbalists, and surgeons, guilds of those people, rare hospitals, or temples of certain gods, and pay them or beg for charity. 3. Large-scale voting for rulers or officials is relatively rare; I don't know how voting works in illiterate populations. Small elite groups will vote by show of hands or secret written ballots. 4. No. 5. Yes. Yes. 6. Crafted goods (finework, weapons and armor), metals, and foods to the Hordelands, Kara-Tur, and Zakhara. 7. There aren't that many dungeons. Anyone able to delve underground -- mostly old dwarven civilizations -- is sensible and skilled enough to delve deep and stably. |
