| theAlastorian09-28-05, 03:26 PM | Well, for sheer usability it's got everything. No matter what type of adventure you want to play, it can be fit somewhere withing the Realms. It has the whole metaplot thing if you're into that, but it's such a huge setting that your game can exist entirely outside of it too. There will be a lot of people who tend to shoot it down over Eberron, but personally it's my favorite of all of the game settings. With the possible exception of Hollowfaust. |
| kaeso09-28-05, 10:55 PM | arguing points: 1) It's high magic 2) It's high fantasy (fantastic settings, stories, creatures, etc.) - no limit to what can happen 3) many many MANY options for race and prestige classes 4) well described in novels, supplements, etc., so there's always more to learn or read (the entertainment never ends!) 5) an old setting, which doesn't mean its out of date, but gives it backing- the fact that its been around for so long and is so popular should say something. |
| runestar09-28-05, 10:56 PM | Well, its has years of setting, background and fluff, so the homeworks already done for you. Its sorta like just plug and play. :) Plus the FR sourcebooks make for nice bedtime reading. |
| Shike09-29-05, 08:16 PM | On top of all of the source books, there are also the novels written in the setting which also gives it history as well as a way to feel out the setting and the people in it. |
