The Jaia prototype didn't (and his remake doesn't either) know his last name. I never really played as enthusiasticly as I do now, until I read Homeland. Drizzt (how do you say that name, anyway?) was the ideal drow, and yet the only real thing in common Jaia has with him is eye color. Unlike Drizzt, Jaia's eyes are a dull silver with white pupils. Don't know about what kinds of things they teach in your part of the world, but August 2003 took place long before December 2004. -I also have 2,105 posts, approximately, whereas my mad counterpart has about 1,462. Having said this everyone needs to as i think Krash said "play nice" no matter how much fun it takes away to do so.....My two cents... Anyway... Back to the original topic of this thread. I still haven't played any D&D games with anyone yet but the way I got intrested in FR was I was walking throught a book store and saw the cover for The Thousand Orc and I thought it was amazing so on impulse i bought it and fell in love with Salvatore. His books that is. And well here I am. :D |

Ignore the meteor storm that's about to launch itself through a one way gate at some unfortunate Binder, that's completely beside the point and has no bearing whatsoever on the matter at hand. By the same token, the 400 yard dimensional lock, hail storm and mithril golems should also be ignored.:D |

We created an account for a video game messageboard website, and needed a password. Stumped, my cousin reached into his older brother's bookshelf, which consisted of about 15-20 paperback novels. He happened to pull out Homeland. Thus, our password was Homeland. Later that night, I picked up Homeland, and skimmed the first chapter or two. From then on, I was hooked. I continued to hungrily devour all of the Drizzt novels. -I soon branched onto other things- the Cleric Quintet was my first non-Drizzt novel. Before I knew it, I could recite the 12 Princes of Shade (Even though one is still yet unnamed), debate the nuonces of the relationship between the Weave, the Shadow Weave, Spellfire, Shadowfire and Raw Magic, and even compiled my dictionary of Elven. I was spending nearly all of my hard earned money on novels, sourcebooks, video games and other things. -As to why I spend so much time on the forums? Good question...Obsession-Compulsion, perhaps. Most of D&D has been Gygax(The true Master) and Ed Greenwood both excellent at their crafts(Although I believe Ed based Shadowdale off Hommlet somehow.) I was just finishing up my campaign with Greyhawk and the TOEE campaign. When Forgotten Realms box set came out(87). I bought it on a saturday by sunday I had players rolling up characters, and we've all been hooked since. The realms are really cool they need to do some freakin realms movies you could have like seven freakin movies.... |

I had never played anything like that before. Ever since I've been more or less hooked. I play the PC games (everyone except Icewind Dale I and II) and spend my weekends and vacations with my friends treading the realms. I'm not a fanatic DnD player (my all time favourite still remains GURPS) though I spend far too much time playing it. :P |

| Red_Wizard06-11-06, 11:26 AM | For me it was Baldur's Gate when if first arrive om shelves. A friend of mine had bought it, but didn't play through it, and so lent it to me to give it a try. I played the opening part probably three times, and couldn't figure it out. I was a stubborn child though (only 12 at the time) and decided one more try was in order. Needless to say, it all fell into place and before long every waking moment that wasn't school, was lived in that game. After that, it took me perhaps a week to purchase my first novel, and needless to say here i am today, 2 bookshelves entirely dedicated to Realms books. Nearly all the 3-3.5e sourcebooks, lovingly here at my side, and several of the 2e box sets happily next to those. Interestingly enough, that game also inspired my career choice. Until i was 12 i wanted to be nothing but a paleontologist. But upon discovery of that game, i instantly wanted to become an animator, and here i am. A month and 10 days from completeing college, and with the prospect of perhaps bioware sitting tauntingly on the horizon. Yay for the Realms :pint: |

This part of the game was to introduce the Forgotten realm to the Party our craft crashed due to Helm problems some 50 miles west of the Sword Coast in the Trackless Sea. The Party got picked up by a Waterdavian trade ship and was taken inland to Waterdeep to start our new adventure we were stranded. This game was to be our first steep to learn of this world we would now call our new home the DM was awesome. :cloud9: :dancin: This is what got me involved in this Game world after this I was a fan and never went back this was in the 1989-1990. |

I read the source material and was very excited, and the game was a big letdown. Vowing to do better, I started my Forgotten Realms in October of 1988. Next year, my FR will see it's 20th anniversary. It's been a long time. Some of the games CURRENTLY running in my campaign are: A Wizard's Reach game, in which the heroes are valiant rebels against the secret tyranny of the Red Wizards of Thay and the more obvious tyranny of the man they back, the Sheriff of Laothkund. That campaign has a simple rule. Here it is. "What would Robin Hood Do?" A game in Amn, where the heroes will battle the hordes of the Sothillissan Empire, and discover the nature of one of it's more horrible secret backers.... A game in Impiltur, but you can go to Candlekeep and see the plot setup for that one, I'm NOT copying that much text over again. (Lost my posting privelages shortly afterwards, but the real world is what it is) A game where the characters somehow fell into the position of being Gladiators, and yet are on a quest to stop a crazed half-fiend from smashing a large rock into Faerun in his attempt to supplant Bhaal's absentee portfolios. Note: This game is the infamous "Scooby Gang" game, where no matter how hard we try, every adventure somehow ends up like an episode of Scooby Doo. You've seen posts about this one elsewhere A game in Thesk (Almost reaching it's conclusion) where the heroes are battling Anvast of the Blighted Trees, an evil Volodni who turned to Talona out of revenge, and swore to bring Blight to the Rawlinswood and Thesk. Now he seeks to steal the "Rotting Man's Essence" with a powerful ritual and become the Chosen of Talona himself. (Final Opponent is not Anvast, he's second to last...heh heh heh...final opponent is his "Last Gasp Monster") My players read here, so I can't post what the last gasp monster is, but if you mail me, I'll tell you so you can twitch like I did when I finished it. A game in Thay, where the characters are slaves. The goal of this game isn't to fight monsters and get treasure. The goal of this game is to get out of Thay and find new lives for themselves. This is a mean game, but at least introing new characters is easy. "George, you're a slave in thay! Tell me how you got there!" There's a few others, but as you can see, I'm a busy guy. |
