I like the Red Wizards because they can be your most hated enemy, your powerful ally or you can be one of them and get many magical abilities. I would like to know your opinion on the matter because as you can see I'm COMPLETELY OBCESSED with the Red Wizards.

They make nice target practice for Simbulym Apprentices and Ethran initiates. They also Disintegrate rather nicely too

Red Wizards make great villians, unscrupulous allies, and are a real treat to roleplay!

Yes i would have to agree with everyone EXCEPT the Simbul:mad: I would have to say i DEPISE THE SIMBUL and her Inferior magic... Also did you know the Tharchion of Surthay is Homer Odesserion though he now he perfers to train in the art of war, but still a somewhat formible mage. Oh yea and Simbul about the Red Wizard target practice,(on the Ethran part) take a look at the cover of Unapproachable East just for a quick glimpse of what we can do the Rashmeni once Thay is united under Szass Tam!!!

Druxus - two words - calm down!

And some more words: everyone is entitled to their own opinions, jokes about target practice of Red Wizards included.

No I shall NOT calm down...never especially when talking about the Simbul!!!!:nonono:

What has she done to you? And if you mean the Simbul on these boards rather than the character, then that's pretty offensive.

Thay, united? Hahaha, LOL, that was funny, wasn't it? Ah, yeah and by the way, polymorphing them into frogs is funny too...:D

I do'nt care if you think I'm offensive.....because I hate The Simbul & anything pertaining to the Simbul, also laugh if you will but Thay shall be united under Szass Tam because as a lich he cannot be assassinated and has MANY:invasion: followers and then Thay Will Reign Supreme!!!!:smirk:

I like the old Red Wizards, before the revision, better.
The new ones are just goofy.

That clearly shows that WotC is part of a big cooperation that seeks world dominance through expansion of their business efforts ;)

The Red Wizards are classic, yes. I mean, common...you DM types out there...admit it...you guys, when lacking the creative juices to create any other sort of interesting BBEG, just take that Spellbound boxed set and create some bad-@ Red Wizard as the evil mastermind of the whole shebang.

Haha, actually...I'd say they'd be my favorite evil minions for a campaign, except for the fact that they seem to get beaten down BADLY in every take-over-the-world endeavor that they try to do. I mean, when's the last time you've heard of the Red Wizards do successfully accomplish anything of any repute or importance? I can probably count the number of occurances with only the fingers of my left hand.

But bar none, they're dependable lil villians. Right behind the horde of orcs.

The Red Wizards shall rule all!!
Sorry, I mean, yes I love the Red Wizards. They can be both the most feared enemy and the most wanted ally within mere days of each other. As for Edwin, the fact that he left Thay is not good, but he holds a great deal of power and is still a Red Wizard none the less.

I must take offense at your comment. Magic is much more dependable than a bunch of those rocks-for-brains everyone knows as orcs.

Red Wizards make good allies for Githyanki Invasion. Szazz Tam and Lich Queen shall rule supreme. The Simbul, Elminster and all of Faerun shall be crushed under our combined might.

Mwahahahahaha!

Come one, Simbul! how cannot you love the Red Wizards? Well, yes, they do invade your country from time to time, but that is just to show than they care for you. The Reds are just the most wonderful organization on the realms. Itis a pity than my own plans for world domination demand the destruction of all other pretend... er, i mean, yes, I do love them. And I would like to join them, and map er walk their citadels and share their secrets... yes indeed.. Where do I have to sign?

I'm quite fond of the Gith and their alignment with the Red Dragons amazing would go along well with the Red Wizards but one thing puzzles me the Lich Queen needs the loosen up and let some Gith live to be above level 16 I mean come on their all UTTERLY loyal to her and she just kills and comsumes them.

Oh yea one Question serinade what type of creature might you be?
Sarelle

07-10-03, 02:46 PM
Serinde - you tried Szass Stew? No? Hows about Edwin and Crumpets? Mmmm... buttered beard.
Serinde

07-10-03, 04:18 PM
Buttered beard? Ychhh. I'm sure you know how annoying it is to get a hair caught in your mouth--why would you go and do it deliberately? Classic, as always, is best: Red Wizard tartare.

What do i think about the Red Wizards:

well, I think they'd look really funny if I tossed in a white shirt with their weekly washing.
:smirk:

Besides that I think they are one of the best evil organisationas around, they have a lot of character and there law about Thayan Enclaves is so devious its ingenious.

I wouldnt mind seeing a conflict between the Zhentarim and the Red Wizards myself, now THAT would be fun.

*Note to self - must try Red Wizard Tartare*

A gnome? ME? The insult!!!!! Jan Janssen? THE HORROR! Well actually I'm only gnomish when I'm at my most cooky. Like now.

*Note to self - kill Druxus for suggesting I am Jann Janssen*

But really Druxus, if you are a Red Wizard you should definately try cannabalism. Those red cloaks seem to spice up the otherwise blandness of those zulkirs.

Oh yes, Edwin was a great character - wonder how he/she is doing

*snicker*

Well...he decided to challenge Elminster. Edwin dissapeared without trace. Edwina however works for a Bar in Waterdeep or some city (cant remember which)

This is taken from His ending from Throne of Bhaal

Red Wizards are a fun group to mobilize. I especially love downplaying their new economic wealth. Against higher level characters, it's often unexpected for them to deal with the threat of wealth...such as spies, elaborate lies, and backstabbing all brought about by silver and spell.

Aside from that, the spellpower they command's pretty fun, at all levels. Thayvians just produce such yummy villain content, IMO. :)

Sarelle...cannabalism is sooo out of date and in the end...is not even worth the effort. Lechtor or Hannibal...or whatever the hell his idiotic name was, probably wished he never ate a human finger nail once he was in jail. He only lasted three days in jail I believe. After the other prisoners got done with him, his body wasn't even recognizable. Why do something if it only ends up getting you beat into a pulp and has virtually no profit for you in the end run? If you want to be evil, here's a suggestion...don't.

Really. Don't. I highly suggest NOT being evil. Why? Simple...Hell. Yes... Hell. What...you don't believe in Hell or Heaven...or even God? Well that's fine and all, but before you leave, take this into account. The bible, the concepts of God, Heaven, Hell, an afterlife (or a realm of existence beyond death) or just belief in living things having a soul, have existed longer than any one mathimatical theory of science. Way longer! 2,000 years to be precise. Theories can be changed, altered, or even thrown out and forgotten totally (though I'm not saying belief in God or the bible hasn't changed or even altered because in some cases through out history of the human race it has).

However, after all that our race has done to this planet, after all the presecution and suffering the romans and other civilizations did to particular worshipers of God and the bible, after 2,000 years of all this, it still is around. What theory of science has lasted 2,000 years? Heck, there is already evidence popping up in other places around the world that concepts of an afterlife and burial of the dead has lasted hundreds of thousands of years, maybe even millions of years. Human remains are being discovered in Egypt, Asia, Iraq (correction...whats left of Iraq) and even on the bottom of certain parts of the Atlantic Ocean! Christ, I heard one of these remains was buried and is over 3,000,000 million years old!

Now that may not be proof enough for you but thats fine. I'll just leave this particular argument with one last comment. Why even take the chance? Eternal pain, torture, despair, and suffering compared to eternal paradise? Come on? Be logical! Humans live for 100 years or a little more. What is 100 years or even 1,000 years compared to ETERNITY! Again, we come to the concept of profit. Be good for 100 years and enjoy eternal paradise...or spend 100 years on the pleasure of being evil and spend the rest of eternity in Hell...do the math. Evil simply isn't worth the effort. Why take a risk of eternal torture when you can have eternal happiness for being good?

Yes, I know being good is hard....unimaginably hard as a matter of fact. George Lucas's idea of a light side of the force taking hundreds of years to fully master while a Dark Side gives all it's power to those willing in a few months is pretty right. Being good is a damn hard experience. But then again...Palpatine became so butt ugly that even the most expensive galactic maskara would probably crack his face in two because of it screaming beyond the sound barrier to be off such a god forsaken purtid sewer oozing source of pentilence like...well...ugliness! Pretty much explains it there.

I'll leave you with that. Take the chance if you wish. It's your soul. Not mine.

Note...this is all in good fun. I felt like being philosophical tonight. I'm quite sure your not a cannibal Sarelle...if you were a cannibal...you'd sure as hell be as stupid as a butt tick to spend time on a public corporate message...where your ISP address can be tracked to where you live. So, please take this as a philosophical debate of fun...I'm probably not spelling philosophical right...but I don't care! I'm drunk and I'm loving it!

I'm not evil! Now it would be evil to eat a Red Wizard raw - where is the respect in that? But I always layer them with ketchup and offer a little prayer to Szass Tam before I tuck in. Amen.

(Lol. But really, on a serious note, you know that the Egyptians used some of the same mathematical equations as we do today? And that was about 5000 years ago. But they had gods too.)

You know there's a cool spell in the Book of Vile Darkness that goes along with cannibals, though when I use it I use Prestodigion to make it taste like sugar cane or something, it's called Asborb mind and you eat 25% of their brain and then you have a 25% chance to remember anything he knew Awesome Spell, then there's Asborb body where you must eat a piece of bloody flesh and then you gain a str bonus = to half their str....good spell I always play evil campaigns and I love it right now my players are thralls of Graz'zt the Demon Prince of seduction and magical power!

Glad we have settled this Druxus - Red Wizards are cool... but taste nice.

goodbye in a few levels :smirk:
and tbh, i really doubt that anyone in Thay would share a rulership with the lich queen, especially because her dislike for rivals is known and since she has no real highlevel followers to assist her, that cant work out over time. banishment anyone ?:D
no offense, but githyanki are nothing but pawns
