Is Salvatore still implicated in the project? No it was canceled a long time ago. Ed mentioned it when I met him in May. It was also brought up at this years Gencon. Its been canceled and the company that was making it was dissolved. They also wanted to use naked drow, and other stuff like that. Hey I like naked people as much as the next person but that wouldn't work for TV, or at least american TV, less it was on cable. |
| maynardjkeenan10-01-04, 07:43 AM | Naked drow? Please elaborate. :) |
| Kuje3110-01-04, 01:22 PM | Naked drow? Please elaborate. :) There wasn't much more to say, it was just one of the things they were interested in doing and Ed mentioned it as a passing reference why he was glad the show got canceled. |

| Slime Lord10-01-04, 07:42 PM | Naked drow? Please elaborate. :) Given my knowledge of the Realm isn't very good, I do think I know that followers of Elissistrae dance nude, and many drow would prefer to be nude, but being drow, they don't... That's ok though, I don't think I would want to see a HalfDrow/Demon nude ;) |
| Taelohn10-02-04, 02:15 AM | Naked drow... and lots of collapsing caverns. They were also planning to reuse some sets from a sci-fi series (they were even going to keep the turbolift-esque elevators, and attribute it to drow magic). |
| maynardjkeenan10-02-04, 11:06 AM | Ah yes... The drow Magic Baskets of Transport... That's how the drow reach the surface in my campaign. It scares the hell out of the PC's when those strangely futuristic rooms with sliding doors come popping outof the undergrowth in Cormanthor..... ......... I'm glad they won't make that show... |

Is Salvatore still implicated in the project? CanWest/Firework Entertainment bought the option to acquire the TV right. That means if they're going through with it, they would have full control over the TV series, even make money off of the series through merchandising. Unfortunately, the option has a deadline. If they do not exercise anything, then they lose the bid for TV right. And that's what happened, they didn't have anything that would indicate they're ready to go into production. |
| Slime Lord10-03-04, 10:27 AM | Well, I have to say again I'm glad they didn't. It probally would have downgraded the Realms. But! I do really want to see some series in 3-D (GOOD 3D), with good voice overs. One of othem I'd like to see of course is War of the Spider Queen. But they would have to do one of two thigns. 1) They would have to have it on a network like Cartoon Network, but not during the day or anything. It would have to be a serious thing. SciFi would also work I would imagine. 2) They would have put it right to video but advertise it well so it would sell well (given, many Realms/DnD/etc.etc folks would buy it anyways). I think thats how they should do it instead of a TV show. Because a TV show would almost be like Pokemon/Digimon/Yugioh of sorts. But doing it like a Video, whether on Cable or DVD/VHS would work alot more and could have more freedom to it. This is my two cents, brought to you by Slime Lord :) |
| Ranger REG10-04-04, 03:56 AM | They should follow Hasbro's marketing plan for their current GI JOE line. After having bought and viewed VALOR vs. VENOM, I have to go look for that action figure set that contains the Spy Troop DVD. It is also a good way to promote D&D RPG by offering a guide. V vs. V offered an instructional game guide to WotC's GI JOE TCG, using the same voice actors from the movie. One could do the same in promoting the RPG. Too bad they didn't include an instructional DVD in the Basic Game. It would have been encouraging for newbies. |
| Elereth_Berantor10-06-04, 09:21 PM | I'm sorry, but anything with naked female drow would be good, regardless of any other factors. :D |
| Slime Lord10-07-04, 09:31 AM | Well, yes of course. And I'm only agreeing with that because that is how Forgotten Realms is set up. You of course would have to have every other little detail and not just nude Elves :) It'd be nice...but like I said on a previous post, I believe itwould downgrade the Realms unless say somone like Ed, had 51% of the control over it. That sort of thing. Again, You've just enjoyed My Two Cents. |

We have a big hang up about seeing naked people on TV unless it's on cable. :) |

We have a big hang up about seeing naked people on TV unless it's on cable. :) Because in the Land of the Free, the naked body= teh devil. But blegh... that's not the topic... I personally would love to see a FR movie... but only if Peter Jackson did it. All we'd have to worry about is him changing the storyline a lil' bit. ;) "Wait a minute- a legion of Elves didn't show up to reclaim Mithril Hall!!" But I'd love to see a Faerun from the eyes of PJ... the Drow, Orcs, even Zhentarim... and then you've got the spellcasters and clerics.... Of course, Peter would probably want to focus it around Drizzt and co. Which, seeing as he's the most popular FR character (from my findings, anyway), isn't all that ignorant an idea. There could be some great fight scenes... -C'SA :u:Bring Back Merfolk!!!:u: |
| Slime Lord10-07-04, 01:28 PM | Yes, but with the horribleness of the Dungeons and Dragon movie, you would have to have someone like Peter Jackson to do such a thing. I think that could be a reason why we haven't seen a movie of the Realms, BUT they also aren't telling us everything so all we know one is in the works...We just don't know. But I would like to see something that doesn't involve Drow all that much. There are way to many books of them as it, we need to see someone else, somewhere else. |
| Ranger REG10-07-04, 09:29 PM | I'm sorry, but anything with naked female drow would be good, regardless of any other factors. Yeah, but most kids don't have the Playboy Channel. ;) |
