| Saccoon08-27-05, 10:11 AM | I am just currious as to what everybody's favorite class is. It would be interesting to here everybody's responce. So please name your favorite class and explain why you like it. |
| WVgamer08-27-05, 10:34 AM | base class or PrC? Base: Ranger Favored enemy and dual wielding free of charge PrC: Shade Hunter (DM took the Alignment Requirement away), because my DM is so epic with his traps and dungeons, it's like playing Indiana Jones |
| Darrian08-27-05, 10:50 AM | Base class, wizard. It, like me, is the most interesting. There are so many things you can do and wizards are fantasy. Prestige class, Dreadmaster of Bane. This is the most power hungry and most fun to roleplay. It forces the DM to deal with diplomacy and the growth of a PC outside of just adventures. This PrC can really test the limits of a DM's abilities. Darrian |
| Alva08-27-05, 11:41 AM | Base Class: Human Wizard. I've always found wizards the coolest creatures in a fantasy setting. In D&D 3.x due to their high Intelligence they have a lot of skill points + that human skillpoints extra makes them not only incredibly cool spellcasters but also good roleplaying characters (I always invest skillpoints in Knowledge local, Knowledge history, Bluff, Intimidate, Gather Information, etc. for extra roleplay fun) PrC: Don't tried it before cuz I am in the first place a DM; but i would love to play a Harper. |
| Angurwald08-27-05, 01:04 PM | Hard to say since i'm usually the guy behind the panel. When I do play I like the paladin. Among the new base classes (from the complete serie), I like the scout and the marshal. --A. |
| GothicDan08-27-05, 07:51 PM | Base Class: Wizard. Because I'm a Physics Major in real life. Well, in truth, the reason I like physics is because it's almost like magic. They can do anything, with no direct moral/religious restrictions from patron deities. Specifically, I like Specialist Wizards, including Diviners, Necromancers, Enchanters, and Evokers. PrC: I pretty much prefer core Wizards, usually. But a few PrCs which I can enjoy include Archmage, Incantatrix, and Red Wizard of Thay. |
| Mula08-27-05, 08:00 PM | I really don't have a favorite. I like playing them all, pretty much. The Spellthief from CV has intrigued me a lot lately, though, and I've still yet to play one. |
| Zevox08-27-05, 08:11 PM | Paladins, by far. Thier philosophy meshes quite nicely with my own beliefs (albeit that I'm not nearly physically capable of actually taking up the profession myself where I to live in the Realms ;) ), and its always nice to see crusading holy warriors beating off the forces of evil - especially since my DM is one of those loony "evil is cool" types :P . Honrable mention though to the Cleric and Wizard classes - if the party already has enough meleers, those are always my fall-back choices (and in that order). Cleric because I like playing religious characters and because its a well-rounded class, and Wizard because of the different options they get and because I just like spellcasting (Enchanters and Diviners are my favorite specializations of Wizards, tossing around sleep and charm spells or casting knowledge-gaining spells is always fun, especially since it breaks away from the "toss fireballs and lightning bolts every which way" stereotype). For Prestige class, Arcane Devotee - combine wizardly prowess with clerical devotion to a deity :D. I generally don't multiclass as a Paladin, though for that I like the Purple Dragon Knight class (if, as is most often, my Paladin is from Cormyr) or the Knight of the Chalice (complete warrior) class.. | Inspired_Mage08-29-05, 04:42 AM | Im a big fan of the Monk, they have so many abilties and they are great to role play, especially in battle where almost every attack can be described completely different. PrC- I have only played one and that is the Mystic Theurge which I am thoroughly enjoying. |
| Aylomeizen08-29-05, 07:41 AM | My favorite would have to be my chaotic evil, half-orc urban ranger. One night, after joyously murdering several people in their sleep, I was in the midst of stuffing my most recent mark into a sewer grate. I liked feeding the carrion crawlers, Anyway, this particular corpse was in bad shape, and the blood seeped out from it and onto the streets around me. This naturally attracted the attention of a several peasants, who called a few guards, a cleric, and a druid who had been in town. Pinned in a back alley, I was forced to fight them all. Though I butchered them all like cattle, I was left quite hurt by the ordeal. Prodding through their equipment, I stumbled upon the cleric's journal. Apparently the druid and cleric had apparently come to town to discuss a local problem; something unnatural had appeared in town, butchering citizenry and guard alike. Of course, it had been waiting for a chance to jump them, and so naturally it waited long enough to let us duke it out. It was only interested in finishing the winner. Well, naturally I was quite angry. It jumped me only moments after the cleric had fallen, taunting me, and generally letting me know how inferior I was in my last few moments of death. What it had not expected, however, was the barrage of insults and taunts that I flung back at it. Shocked, and enraged by this brash display of hostility, I died within moments. Oh, but this wasn't enough to satisfy him. He was angry. Really angry. It turned out that he was a vampire, a moon elf who shared my penchant for cruelty. A few days later, I naturally came back to life enslaved as a vampire spawn. At this point, I came to the realization that, though I was quite obviously dead, I needed to become more cunning in how I did things. For a few years, the vampire had me do tasks, and he did not treat me well. Vampires harbor grudges for a long time. Because he had been testing me for years, he eventually let me go. After winning my freedom in a chess match, we became friends. This, however, is where the story ends. I eventually fled to the North, to Anauroch, where Zhentarim caravans are plagued to this day. |
| Yom Beekus08-29-05, 07:05 PM | I too tend to "hide" behind the screen. On the rare opportunity that I can get to play, I play a paladin. The ultimate white hat good-guy. As for a prestige class...I really haven't found one that I've liked. But I'm always open to new ideas. |
| BrianCritchley08-29-05, 07:39 PM | I tend to GM as well, but when I do play I tend to perfer rangers, unless it's a city heavy game, then I'll play a rogue or bard. |
| Konphujun08-29-05, 11:59 PM | Hey, My favorite base class is, without a doubt, the warlock. The inherent roleplaying capabilities as well as the combat strength of this class make it all around awesome-tastic! As for PrCs, I absolutly LOVE the Daggerspell Mage and Shadowane Inquisitor. (Yes I know, the Inquisitor goes against the theme of any sensible warlock, so sue me :P ) Peace, Konphujun  |
| Genasi_tac09-01-05, 05:28 AM | I generally prefer to play a wizard, mostly because I love fantasy and wizards always seem to be the epitome of this for me. If I care to specialise I usually play Diviners (Mysterious all-knowing mages just seem so cool). For a PrC I generally just choose the Archmage, there aren't many I really enjoy. If there is already a wizard in our campaign I'll sit in as a Rogue, stealth is fun. I'll play the quiet and sinister assassin who you don't want around you on a dark and lonely night. So naturally I'll take the Assassin PrC for that class if it's allowed. |
| tariff09-01-05, 06:11 PM | Currently playing a Monk/Sorcerer (Dark moon monastic order, Forgotten Realms setting), and im loving his versatility. |
| Bladedancer09-01-05, 06:11 PM | My current favorite is a Half orc fighter/Eye of Gruumsh. Oh poor Namrane Bloodbanner he couldn't rest control of the Tanarukka tribes from Kaanyr Vhok's control and ended up as dinner for a buttload of tanarri. |
| Jackhein09-06-05, 06:37 PM | my favorite class is bard/ranger, even though wizard fits me best. All time favorite PrC is of course the Shadow Adept (Convert to the Shadow Weave) Jackhein |
| buzzard09-06-05, 07:09 PM | Sorcerer, even more if it's lawful, you can't go wrong with a high-class aristocrat that can spit spells all the time and when he is out of fuel you take advantage of your Charisma-based skills to get away with it or, you can start with the Charisma-based skills and then blast your enemies. |
| Ziatyn Phoenixwolf09-06-05, 09:11 PM | My favorite class is ranger followed closly by druid. I like all of the divine prestige classes(champion, seeker, devotee, and deciple) seeing that all of them can add a great amount of depth to any charactor. |
