Simple question... why is this book, published in 2002, seem to be so friggin' rare and desirable? On the marketplace forum there's a guy offering it for $50. On Amazon the cheapest price available is $68!!! I found mine for around $15 used a couple months ago. What is it about this tome?

Because it is now out-of-print.

And that because most people like me had already bought 3e Deities and Demigods, which provides enough update on how to handle devine beings if you already own ALL THREE of the 2e sources.

The 2e sources provided better in-depth information, from what I understand, making the newer source practically worthless to most older players.

At least, thats the only reason I can come up with why it's already out-of-print if the material is current.

It really does seem to hinge on the fact that it's out of print and people selling online are trying to inflate the price.

Try getting a copy of the Core Rules 2.0 Expansion CD-ROM...I can't find mine (stll got the base one) but there's no way I'm paying 150 for it.

I had two of those and I gave one away to some guy I don't even know at the game store.

Wish I knew it was worth something. :(

Still have both of those actually... if I wasn't such a packrat I might consider selling them off. :D

Supply and demand. Ebay has inflated the price of alot of older RPG books even form reasonably recent ones from the last 5-10 years. In the good ol days you went without or hoped you got lucky in a 2nd habd store. Now theres ebay and people are willing to pay to get what they want.

At one point Star Wars Power of the Jedi and Dark Side sourcebook were quite expensinve and 2-3 old Star Wars d6 books are in the $50-$100 range. Certain 1st ed modules are worth goos money and cetain items from 2nd ed are quite hard to get like the FR interactive Atlas, Core Rules, Dragon CD Rom archive.

Wow, 150$ for that CD, I'm going home to dig mine out tonight and sell it.
