Good 3. natrual Honestly, considering the overwhelming variety of choices, I'd say it'd depend on the DM... as in what specific locations play to his/her strengths and preferences. For example, I've long had a fascination with arabic culture and myth. Sinbad, Arabian Nights... love that stuff. When Al Qadim hit the shelves, I was all over it. So, that's going to be an exciting location, if I'm running the game, because I'm very much into the setting. Horror and intrigue are two things that I'm good at... so any location where those strengths can shine would be a good setting for a game I'm running. On the other hand, the whole Oriental Adventures thing doesn't appeal that much to me, so I probably wouldn't do it well (not long term anyway... I recently ran a short stint in Kara Tur that was okay). So, yeah... I think it's all about the DM. Every location has potential to be exciting. -- A. |

| Rinonalyrna Fathomlin07-17-03, 03:33 AM | Although, with some thought, can't one run a campaign for any alignment just about anywhere? Evil, for example, exists everywhere--there are evil people and evil plots even in those cities traditionally known as "good". Waterdeep is full of evil people, even though it is ruled by people who are mostly good. |

Precisely, in the Silver Marches, good characters would be concerned with preserving the confederation, evil characters would wnat to undermine it and neutral ones wouldn't be concerned with it at all. Or not, perhaps the evil ones prefer things as they are so they can use it to their own ends. You've just got to remember than in some places, evil characters would be a minority and good ones in others so it's worth thinking about how most of the population behave and would react to you. |
