| Sparhawk4201-06-06, 01:00 PM | Okay I have the Player’s Handbook, the FRCS, the Players Guide to Faerun, Faiths and Pantheons, and Races of Faerun. I was wondering where I should go from here. I was thinking the Dungeon Master’s Guide and the Monster Manual. I know there are several versions of both the Dungeon Master’s Guide and the Monster Manual but I’m not sure which one I need. I use 3.5 rules but is the Monster Manual 3.5 just an update? Do I still need to buy one of the older versions to get all the information? I was wondering the same thing about the Dungeon Master’s Guide. I’m sorry if these are silly questions but I’m trying to teach myself as I go. I haven’t played since I was very young and I was always a player and now I want to try out being a DM. Anyway, any help with my questions and any advice for any other good books for me to pick up would be appreciated |

If you're looking into DMing, I'd also suggest the DMGII and Heroes of Horror-even if you're not running a horrific game, it's a great example book of how to put things together stylistically. |

Does it just add to whats already in the DMG? Or is it something else? Also I'd love to hear any other ideas on other sourcebooks to look into. |

The DMGII adds on to a lot of stuff from the DMG-it's more of a campaign toolbox with various concepts, systems, and ideas for you to use in your games, and then a large amount of tips on DMing itself. |

Most of the places already are in FRCS but if you want more depth you can get, for example; Silver Marches. I love that book. Waterdeep is another regional source book, as are Unapproachable East, Shining South and in a way Underdark. |

Magic of Faerun because all of the PrC's, spells and magic items that were not specifically updated with PGtF can still be used and Monsters of Faerun because of all the monsters that are unique and specific to the setting. And here (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/we/20040313a) you will find all the info needed to update 3E monsters to 3.5. |
