| Lanky Ogre Baggy Pants01-12-06, 07:12 PM | I'm getting ready to start a campaign in Waterdeep and I realized that I have a problem. I'm too knowledgable about FR. I currently own every 3.x supplement for FR, many 2E products, including the 2E Waterdeep boxed set. I have also read a lot of the novels. I want to write about a page of information that the characters will know about Waterdeep and the North depending on where the specific characters are from. I don't want to tell them to read the books because, 1, thats a lot of information and 2, there are some things I don't want them to know or I don't think their characters would know. Do you have any suggestions on what a beginning adventurer would know about Waterdeep, Silverymoon, and the North assuming they grew up in that area? Thanks for the input. |

It also depends on the characters- a wise and sagely mage would know a little more about Waterdeep than a druid from the Moonshae Isles. -Think about it like this- What do you know of New York City. New York City and Waterdeep are very much alike. So, the common knowledge you know about NYC- well, translate that into common knowledge about Waterdeep. |

Start it in one of those little dinky towns halfway to the Spine of the World, and they're travelling to Waterdeep. Then they've got some small adventures on their way to town, and a few runs for you to fill them in on the details. |
