| Duskey09-23-03, 09:36 PM | I'm about to start a game as a player in netheril. The time will be around Ioulaums time in the age of mythallar. I think I'll play en elf whose parents moves to the Seventon(Netheril) region because they were quite curious of the human nation. Of course they were banished by the other elves for making such a drastic choice. If I'm allowed I'd like to play him so that he's about 20 years old when "The Finder" discovers the Nether scrolls. I think it would be quite fun, but this will at least make him old (Str/Dex/Con -3 Int/Wis/Cha +2) that's why I thought it would be easier to make a wizard than a fighter. What would you play? I've already thought about a wizard/loremaster or a wizard/elemental savant/archmage (at some point) or maybe even a bladesinger... What do you think would be fun? (We start at level 12) |

| Cunning Linguist09-24-03, 03:29 AM | I don't see why anyone would want to adventure in netheril.. But if your going to be a elven wizard, remember that they did not cast spells like Arcanists, they cast them like normal wizards. |

I wonder how many ranks you need in diplomacy to convince the current Mystra(Midnight) to lift the 9th-level spell cap... |

| Duskey09-24-03, 04:51 AM | Originally posted by Fredegar The White I'd play a Pelf Fighter/Mage/Bladesinger! Pelf? Wazzat? I would also like to check out the Bladesinger, but since I get -3 to the three first stats because of the age...that's just a turn off |
| Fredegar The White09-24-03, 05:20 AM | I always like to misspell words so i frequently say pelf or porc instead of elf, orc balduvian instead of barbarian papaladin instead of paladin etc...:D Fighter/Wizard/Bladesinger 7th/1st/4th. The wizard is just for the spellcasting prereq the Bladesinger wants! You can say you start with a -2 in the first stats because you get 3 points to assign. By the way how do you roll a character? Dice? If so you must be very lucky not to roll a 9 or lower! I personally give my players 42 points and tell them to buy from the DM's Guide point system you can make great scores with that! Talk about it with your DM.(It gives 32 points for a powerfull campaign.) |
| Duskey09-24-03, 06:01 AM | We roll 4d6 subtract lowest. Roll them six times and if they are good assign them to your sheet as you see fit. If not good enough...try again. |
| Fredegar The White09-24-03, 06:39 AM | That means that if you roll 2 aces a two and a three you have a score of 6! :( Why don't you rerol the aces? It will give your chars better chances to roll for 10 or 12! Man with that system you will never have good stats to assign to your chars! :( I used the reroll thingy for 2ed and it worked good! |
| Duskey09-24-03, 09:33 AM | The secret is...just keep rolling till you're lucky. My last character lowest score was 13 BEFORE race, age and magic adjustments. I was lucky, but on average I only start out with one score below 10 |
| Pandelume09-24-03, 11:01 AM | Good time to play in Netheril really just before the Arcanists gain control over the city states. Rember that when mythallar come along Elves loss all their race bonus in the area of the mythallar power. So I guess mythallar screw elves up bad. So in the time before Ioulaum finsh the true mythallar their going to be alot of magical choas about. |
| Duskey09-25-03, 11:07 PM | Correction...it was level 14. I'm gonna go Wiz5/Elemental Savant(air)8/Archmage1... Should be fun. Don't know if I wanna play elf yet, but it could be fun since he would've been around when the scrolls was uncovered... |
