Kuje31 12-03-04, 01:18 PM	Grin well there's tons of threads on this but to get into the arguement again: It's technically 1374 because Richard Baker's novel is set in 1374 and no other novel or product has caught up to that date yet. Most of the current novels and sourcebooks are set around or in 1373.

Yes but the FRCS is 4 years old in our years and the Player's Guide, which overwrote much of the FRCS, says the year is 1373. Novels also change the year because it says in the FRCS, on page 260, that, "We will be advancing the year via sourcebooks and novels." And before someone brings up the rest of that passage. At the time that was written WOTC did decide that was okay but between the lay offs, and quittings, and reshuffling that went out in the last 4 years the rest of that passage fell by the wayside. Rich has remarked on this in the old ask the game designer thread that's in the FR FAQ section. This is just a sore subject with me because every time this topic comes up someone wants to argue about it. :) So I tend to get a little uptight about it.

I'm just happy to hear its actually 1374 officially than just 1373. Now if they could say advance it 3 more years or so, that would be a great improvement. :clap: :ayyyy!: Maybe I'm just a tad impatient but as the time line is moving, though now its actually gaining some speed it looks like, I'll be long dead and gone before my chars even hit old age in FR. :waits: :ghosted: Heh, I just can't get enough of these new smiley faces. I have a sudden urge to play Packman. Now those were the days! :D :tiphat:

That's why we wait for the timelines to progress just to see where and when our characters would have been. Cause I think my friend said had his character known about the war he wouldn't have been there or something other than that I don't remember which. But as things are going in the timeline now, I don't want to do something that contradicts the timeline. My group likes to try and stay as close as possible to the FR timeline. Not really a big deal, but you know how it is. In any case, thanks for keeping us updated on the timeline. :) :tiphat:

In any case, thanks for keeping us updated on the timeline. :) :tiphat: Ah see if that was my setting and TSR/WOTC changed something that got in the way of my setting I would have tossed TSR/WOTC's idea. :) Ah well but yes I know what you mean and even as a staunch defending of canon I also toss it when it get's in the way of MY version of the setting.
