| MakesMeSick07-09-04, 06:48 PM | First off, warm greetings to you, fellow Realms players/DMs. I'm about to DM the said module, and am thinking of placing the forest section and the village of Ossington somewhere in the Realms. I am currently thinking of placing it either in the Cormanthor forest, the Rawlinswoods, or the High Forest. I am open to renaming the village of Ossington or using a Realm's equivalent, or I may just "put" it there on the map. I would gladly hear any Realm's experience with this module, and would kindly ask your input as to where it would fit the most. Thanks in advance for any input. (As a side note, I tried a search, thinking the subject already been discussed, as for "The Forge of Fury", but kept receiving no results...so I am sorry if it has been discussed, and would kindly request a link to said thread if possible... thx) |
| Ilmryni07-09-04, 08:26 PM | I can't think of anywhere where its been discussed but i think that any of the places that you mentioned would work. I personally would put it in the high forest but i like playing campains in the north. |
| Scytax Killbane07-10-04, 04:03 PM | Salute! fellow montrealer I placed SS in the north part of the High forest, it worked very well. The tielfling came from Hellgate Keep and I replaced the wild elves with wood elves. |
| MakesMeSick07-11-04, 01:59 AM | Thanks for your input so far :D, very kind of you, I guess the High Forest would be nice, the idea about Hellgate Keep is just the kind of info I'm trying to incorporate into my adventure, so thanks for the idea....and nice to see fellow Montrealers Scytax Killbane ;) And have you replaced Ossington with an actual FR village/town or did you just "put" it on the map in the High Forest? Warm regards, |
| plick212107-11-04, 03:10 AM | Wow, this adventure was popular in our city! I Gmed this module a while back. I set it in the Wealdath in Tethyr. The party was traveling north and was asked by local druids to investigate Ossington, as no one had heard from the village in weeks. Tethyrians have a history of bad relationships with the wild elves so the druids were worried. In the end, it all worked out, mostly thanks to the wild elf PC sorcerer who managed to talk to the elves and get the real story. Max |

Warm regards, N.B. I'm both Scytax and Dragonfey, I had problem with my registration at some point and open two different account... I "put" Ossington on the map and placed it nearby Stone Stand, a little bit south east. The Ossington elves were isolated from those of Reitheillaethor because of Tanarukks horde from Hellgate Keep. (My campaign take place just before the destruction of the Keep, Kaanyr Vhok and the Blue Bears are some of the main villains.) My players were in Sundabar when they were sent to Ossington to investigate a paladin of Helm dissapearance, the stopping of caravans from Ossington and alleged Cult of the Dragon activities. In my campaign, the Cult of the Dragon is studying Ashardalon history in order to bring him back in their foil. Note that after the players found out the real villains and left Ossington empty, the treants of Turlang destroyed all traces of the offending village. |
| J. Grenemyer07-12-04, 01:29 PM | Hello, I ran this adventure as part of my War in Cormyr campaign arc, so I placed it in the King's Forrest. :D |
| Lashan07-12-04, 09:58 PM | I think that this module is great to put almost anywhere. Personally, I put it in north-western Sembia, near the Thunder Peaks. Of course, with the current map, it's more like western Sembia. The village is so small, that it doesn't really have to be on any map. The plot is quite independant. It can go almost anywhere that you want. I had a lot of fun with this one. I had this used for my "Lashan's War" campaign. Lashan hired the characters to gather magic items, not telling them that he was going to start a war with them. This item was sensed by the local temple to Mystra (the Enchanted Tower). The players hunted it down and finally got the item back to Scardale. Well, the high priest of Mystra wanted to research the item. Remember that Mystarans don't want to destroy ANY magic item, even the dreamstone. Well, when the war hit the fan, one of the underling priests (whome the party had grown to like) succumbed to the stone and stole it during the finally days of Lashan's rule. It turns out he hid in Harrowdale in the empty keep. The party had to go into that ancient keep and fight their former friend to once again put the dreamstone down. What a great adventure. |
| EHFreitag07-14-04, 01:24 AM | if you were silly, (like me) you would put it in cormanthor, because the is a (lol) standing stone, commemerating the alliance between the elves of said forest and the settlers for destroyed Jhamdaath, or was it Chondath already then? This was about 30dr of i remember correctly. |
| Lashan07-14-04, 07:26 AM | Actually, it is the event that starts Dale Recononing (DR). It was a treaty between the evlen nation of Cormanthyr and the chondathan settlers who wanted to settle the un-wooded lands of their southern border. The elves thought that this elf-friendly area might create a buffer between them and the hungry human nations to the south. It worked.....for a time. When Lashan of Scardale started a war to create a hungry human nation out of these little communities, that was the very last straw that drove the elves into Retreat. The main difference between the Standing Stone and the ones in the module is that the ones in the module are lost in mystery. The Standing Stone is a well-known landmark and actually right on a major trade route. |
| MakesMeSick07-14-04, 10:27 AM | Again, thank you all for the info, it is much appreciated :D So far, Cormyr would be my option, but I also like DragonFey's idea about the High Forest and Hellgate Keep... I could use Turlang as an ally to the elves... I guess I would be derailing my own thread, but I would kindly request more info about the module to those who played it in the Realms, I would like to know what religion you chose for the Ghost Paladin, and for the female cleric(druid?) (have her name on the tip of my tongue...). Also, if you played the adventure at 7th level, did your party fight the vrock bard? My players are sometimes reckless and I think they would try... How did it go? And did they challenge the mayor/thiefling ? Many thanks, |
| EHFreitag07-14-04, 01:56 PM | Big thanks to lashan, for not making write a bunch to correct that, (dr26, and not 30 was actually the founding of house Obarskyr in Cormyr) The proximity in time and place mixed me up. But yes, cormanthor really wouldn't be that great of a place, I was mostly fooling around, and I too am a great fan of the north, so High Forest, as mentioned above, is my serious location. |
