GarettGreenbottle 07-30-07, 02:12 PM	This topic should probably be in What's a DM To Do, but it isn't really a DMing question. Here it goes. I bought the FR Campaign Setting book a while ago, read through most of it, and I really liked it. It is in depth and interesting, and just plain awesome. I really want to DM a campign set in FR, but my problem is I don't know where to start. I sometimes feel there is an overwelming amount of places to start, which limits me to make a decision. I was thinking about starting it in Cormyr, Waterdeep, or one of the Dales, but I only own the FRCS book and Lost Empires of Faerun..which limits me on my sorces. My main question is, is there a module I can obtain online that starts at 1 level and might give me a good place to start a campaign so I don't have to make a decision. Any help is appreciated.
Fillow 07-30-07, 02:36 PM	Within the WotC website are ther many free downloadable Web enhancements about the Forgeottten Realms. Just go and click one or several of them to start your campaign. They are here : http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/arch/we Some are pure D&D and some are FR products. Check them to see if they're part of the FR ot not.

Leukrythus 07-31-07, 10:33 AM	The FRCS book (and three core books) is all you need to start, so pick a spot of interest and run with it! That is if you don't mind geeks criticizing your game because it's not purist gospel. As your game progresses you'll figure out which additional resources you'll need. If you know how to search the web you can find alot of FR background for free. Don't be afraid to start, let your game evolve to the wishes of yourself and your players.

MarkusTay63 07-31-07, 04:06 PM	The Candlekeep Campaign Journals (http://www.candlekeep.com/campaign/campaign.htm) could prove invaluable as well; I'm especially fond of the Northern Journey one myself. Lots of useful stuff there, although not 100% official. In fact, just about everything over at CK I find useful. ;)
GarettGreenbottle 07-31-07, 06:26 PM	Yeah, I was just planning on running them through an area and see what they like. Sadly, the concensus is that FR is broken, since there are already lvl 32 characters to do everything. I don't agree with that at all, and I want to prove to them that lvl 1 characters are still needed. Ed even had that in Elminsters description.."He now works through younger adventurers..." Or something along the lines of that. I really like Cormyr and Sembia, and I was wondering if starting lvl one characters to explore Anarouch (sp?) desert was a little...harsh.

If you're interested in them, PM me since I have quite some material for it that could be of great use to you if you like a quick but quite detailed introduction that will help you running a campaign in the verdant region in no time.
