Which regional sourcebook? [Archive] - Wizards Community

08-14-06, 03:32 AM I want to buy one of the regional sourcebooks of FR. But I wonder which one i should buy.
Underdark
Unapproachable east
Silver marches
Serpent kingdoms
Lords of darkness
Lost empires
Shining south.
I would like to hear why you advice me to buy the book, so some arguments why it is the best. I was actually thinking about Lost empires because it sounds pretty cool to adventure in ancient ruins and find the nether scrolls etc.

08-14-06, 03:41 AM The Silver Marches - It may only be a softcover, but the background is ammazing, there are some very nice prestige classes, and to top it all off, a pull out map.

08-14-06, 03:43 AM Silver Marches: Lots of adventuring material, very light on mechanics, lots on fluff.
Lost Empires: Lots of history AND possible ideas for plot hooks.
Shining South: A decent mix of both, and one of my personally favored regions.

08-14-06, 11:50 AM Silver Marches really captures the flavour of the region and is possibly the most 'complete' regional sourcebook.
City of Splendors: Waterdeep is one you didn't mention, but I recommend it very highly, it's probably my favourite regional sourcebook.

08-14-06, 09:24 PM I like the Lost Empires of Faerun supplement but I caution that you beware the Greenbound Summoningfeat. I do not mind it but some do.

The book is great on fluff and has some good mechanics.
