Probably hiding under some stone until he is needed again or just collecting rare insects.

FR game designers are well known to create rediculously powerful mages and to forget them later.

Shoon was arguably one of the most powerful mages to walk Faerun. He ruled quite an extensive empire at one time.

Shoon had enough magical might to face off & destroy a blue dragon. Later he became a lich, and finally a demilich.

Shoon is probably most notable in recent history because of his involvement in events in the Lands of Intrigues.

At one time, there was a Elven maiden named Zallanora. She & her traveling companions were on their way Silverymoon to continue their studies in the arcane. Unfortunately, they were waylayed by a Calimshite mage named Shond Tharovin.

Shond unleased the Skull of Shoon and the demilich's skull began to feed on the souls of Zallanora's friends.

Did I mention that this attack occured on the very day that the Time of Troubles began? No? Anyway. ;)

As Shoon's skull began to feed on Zallanora's soul, there was a magical backlash & their two psyche changed places.

Shoon took over Zallanora's body and Zallanora's mind entered the Skull of Shoon.

To this day, Shoon still walks Faerun in a most unexpected form.

What are the 2nd & 3rd Ed references for Shoon?

I've just been reading Empires of the Shining Sea, but cant see his post-Emperor unlife discussed.

I keep thinking that he controls the Twised Rune, but nothing in Lords of Darkness supports that.

thx.

I believe Lands of Intrigue is the primary source of information on Shoon.

As I told you, the designers forgot him.

With this horde of epic spellcasters in FR it is easy to forget an 36th level Necromancer Ex?-Demilich.
