| Amurayi09-16-03, 05:31 AM | Why is Lolth gone? What happened to her? It has been stated often that she is not currently "here" to help her worshippers. What happened? Band of adventurers causing trouble in the underdark? :P |
| Ouroboros09-16-03, 05:58 AM | All gods are gone. Does cowards are wining because they don't have the upperhand;) As every god(dess) (s)he grands spells to h(er/is) follewers  |
| Gadodel09-16-03, 06:43 AM | Huh? |

You can check out the next Drizzt novel, The Lone Drow for full details. Apparently, Drizzt will now ascend to deity level and take over as chief source of worship for most drow. Thus, all drow are now required to brood for at least 2/3rds of the day or at least half of any novel they are featured in. |
| Amurayi09-16-03, 11:04 AM | WOW! Now THAT'S a change in plans in my campaign! When does this happen? Are the novel stories happening "after" the FR Campaign Setting starting year ( I think 1347 it is) ? There's a discussion on this board if Bhaal can be resurrected or not. What about Lolth? Is she "spread all over the void" as well? Or just being sent to a lower plane like Cyric once were when he lost the portfolio of the dead? |
| Richard Lee Byers09-16-03, 11:39 AM | As the author of Dissolution, first novel in the War of the Spider Queen series (now available in paperback!), it's my responsibility to keep Lolth locked in the trunk of my car for the time being. Seriously, the tale of Lolth's disappearance is unfolding in the six-book series, and those who read it will learn the solution to the mystery by the end of the story. |

| Amurayi09-16-03, 12:58 PM | Richard, I bet YOU know in which year the spider queen has been killed (er.. locked in your rune covered car) ? |
| wanderingminstrelnasheen09-16-03, 03:38 PM | Yes, please oh, sage, tell us what year this happens so campaigns can be properly attuned. |
| Richard Lee Byers09-16-03, 03:55 PM | 1372 DR, I do believe. You'd think I'd know for sure, wouldn't you, considering that I wrote the kick-off novel. But the date wasn't something that I actually had to know to tell my piece of the story. If it's not 1372, it's 1373. It's definitely not any earlier. |
| Palem Whistler09-16-03, 04:01 PM | So for those of us who don't read the novels, what's the deal? |
| Richard Lee Byers09-16-03, 04:10 PM | All I can tell you is that the answer will be revealed by the end of the series. At this point, it's still a mystery, and none of us authors is going to spoil the story by giving it away prematurely. |

Geesh, it's not like this is your career or something. It's not like you make money off this sort of thing! Spill it! Come on! Tell me what happens right now! And I'll have fries with that plot spoiler too, please. ;) Drizzt the diety?... If so, our table is going to have our first god killin'! Awesome! |
| Amurayi09-16-03, 04:30 PM | Lloth: (In scubagear voice) "Accept it! I am your mother, Drizzt!" Drizzt: "Noooooooooooooooo!" Lloth:"Come.. join me to the dark side! Together we will rule the universe!" Drizzt: "Nevaaaaaaaaa!" *falls in the bottomless pit* |
| Azeem Hesaad09-17-03, 01:22 PM | Someone told me it had to do with that "Queen of the Demonweb Pits" book for Greyhawk. I have never read or so much as perused it, but now there is this blather about it being involved with Drizzt. I just thought maybe Lolth snacked on some bad cheese, but apparently I was wrong. I do know one thing in my misbelieving mind...if Drizzt kills the Lady of Chaos I will flip. As if the self-induced reminiscing that continues on throughout all of the Drizzt books isn't enough, there are actually people who buy into his nonsense. Now, don't get me wrong..."hats off" to R.A. and his creation of the drow...Liriel Baenre...Pharaun Mizrym...Matron Malice *coughs from dust*...I loved all these characters (I mean "hats off" to Cunningham for Liriel, and R.L. Byers *snicker* for Pharaun), but Drizzt Do'urden as the lone reed in a city that would just as soon kill you as look at you it TOO much. If Drizzt goes up against Lolth he will lose. She will kill him and his "little dog" too. I find the male rebellion appealing though. IF ONLY DRIZZT WOULD JUST DIE!!!!!!!:behold: |

Hmm can I have Lolth??? She is my favorite goddess & just so damn sexy in those web outfits. She can come over for a cocktail. :D |
| n0x09-18-03, 07:00 PM | Anyone new to the Forgotten Realms: Do not be confused by this thread. Just ignore it. |
| Pandelume09-18-03, 08:26 PM | Maybe the Unseelie have got Lolth. :D |

| SornDuskryn09-18-03, 10:33 PM | Spolier * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Not sure if anyone actually doesn't know this or not. But to answer the question. Lolth has gone silent because she's gone into a metamorphasis of sorts. My guess would be that she's attempting something in order to increase her power, and perhaps cause more chaos than she already does... On that note. Damn it, I wish Vhaeraun had managed to kill her. Would be sweet!!!!! :P |
| knightserpent09-18-03, 11:30 PM | I think she is just having babies. Lots of little spider godlings. Maybe even a driderlike atrophal.... that would be scary. |

It says in CotSQ that Randal Morn has ruled Daggerdale for more then 4 years and he took control in 1369 DR it's later then that time in 1373 DR. The Silence was 60 days earlier so it was either late 1372 or early 1373. |

I hope she is having babies AND becoming a Greater Goddess. She then goes & rips off the head of Finder just for the fun of it. :b: |
| Celtavian09-20-03, 02:34 AM | Dang, I can't believe no date is listed when she went silent. You would think that date would be infamous in FR history. Lame. |
| Brynne09-21-03, 01:03 PM | For a partial explanation, it helps to read the prologues in the WotSQ books. It hasn't explained completely yet, but the reason for Lolth's silence is being explained piece by piece as the books come out, as the story unfolds. For those of you who don't follow the books, I'm sure that once the series is done you'll be able to find information online for campaign ideas. But, realistically, of course they're not going to put that information out yet, with the series incomplete. As for the year, I'm sure that somebody will figure it out and it will be added to the FR history in due time. |
| The Spider Mage09-25-03, 01:50 PM | She got her butt kicked in Queen of the Demonweb Pits(greyhawk novel). |
| Mirtek09-25-03, 01:58 PM | Originally posted by The Spider Mage She got her butt kicked in Queen of the Demonweb Pits(greyhawk novel). First of all: Being a Greyhawk Novel, this has no impact on the FR, since the settings are completly seperated since 3e. Second: The novel is just a homage to the old AD&D 1e module, it's not canon, Lolth isn't dead in Greyhawk (in fact the heroes only dealt with the old demonqueen version of Lolth which she was during the time of the module, not with Lolth the goddess she's now). Also they technically didn't kill Lolth in this novel, since the extradimensional space where they bathed her in holy water as a pocket plane and thus she was outside her homeplane at this moment and couldn't be truly killed. |
