Also, if you do play the game, come check us out and see what it's like to be part of a very intense, and very dedicated hardcore roleplay community. Take your best PnP sessions with your good friends, and add a gorgeous visual experience to it and multiply that with 10 - then you know what's in store for those that play NwN2 in a true roleplay environment with a friendly community and highly dedicated staff. Server Name: The 7th House Module Name: World of Charun Server IP Address: 62.149.197.158:5121 Game Type: Roleplay Level Range: 1 - 40 PvP Mode: Full Website: http://www.worldofcharun.net/forum/index.php INTRODUCTION The World of Charun is a unique and persistent roleplay gameworld based upon its own custom setting. It is based on the Neverwinter Nights 2 computer roleplaying game developed by Obsidian Entertainment. The Neverwinter Nights 2 module of the World of Charun is now in its Fourth Age, after the fall of the Third Age, which happened in the first installment of Neverwinter Nights. THE SPIRIT OF THE WORLD OF CHARUN The World of Charun is first and foremost a roleplay adventure server. If using labels most players of NWN are familiar with, we'd go with a Roleplay server as well as a Hardcore server. Part of the goal with WoC is to create a perfect combination between Pen and Paper roleplay, and what is offered through NWN. The world is to inspire and excite! The player characters are adventurers by trade, not cobblers or farmers, at least when they head on out and become rogues, wizards and fighters. We believe that the best experiences, the best roleplay and the greatest excitement is found during events that would make good stories, movies or books. Frodo had to leave home, or there wouldn't have been a book. Player characters are encouraged to explore, loot and seek thrills. That is how legends are made. The important thing to keep in mind is that nothing is worth anything without roleplaying during your adventures. Come join us and see for yourself! Features: - Full Persistency (coming soon) - A Completely Unique & Realistic Combat System - A Dynamic Housing & Castle System (coming soon) - A Dynamic Followers, Henchmen & Hirelings System (coming soon) - A Dynamic and Global Reputation & Fame System (coming soon) - Extensive & Improved PnP Spells & Ruleset - Highly Improved Artificial Creature Intelligence - Entirely Custom Weapons, Armors & Items - Gorgeous & High-quality Environments - 90+ Areas & Growing - A Dedicated & Friendly Community - A Comitted & User-Friendly Staff - Regular DM Events - And so much more... | dmbassa02-05-08, 01:50 PM | The Singleplayer game isn't much worth the coin, absolutely not. But that's a matter of taste, I guess. There's quite a lot of people out there who seem to enjoy the Singleplayer campaign that comes with the game. However, the newest expansion for Neverwinter Nights 2, Mask of the Betrayer, is actually very, very cool! It's the online play on a Persistent World (a gameworld created by the tools that comes with the Neverwinter Nights 2 game which is online 24/7) that really stands out. Mind you, Neverwinter Nights 2 has very little in common with other well-know MMORPG's, like World of Warcraft, etc. Games such as WoW is 90% action, 9% socializing and 1% roleplay. On certain PW's in Neverwinter Nights 2, the community is dedicated to the roleplay aspect entirely, especially on ours. For example, the staff on the World of Charun alone has a combined Pen & Paper experience that exceeds 50 years. Most of us are 30'ish, so it makes for not only highly experienced players, but also a very mature community with a high level of integrity. Cheers, DMBassa |

| Rinonalyrna Fathomlin02-05-08, 04:28 PM | I very much enjoy the NWN single player experience--even if one doesn't care for the official campaigns, there are tons of great modules out there.:) |
| Cosian02-05-08, 05:11 PM | I think it's pretty difficult to give a decent review of a PW until you get some time in. I've only been playing in Charun for a week now, but it is clear to me after trying a number of other PW's (Persistant World), that Charun is truely unique. And for those that have not tried a PW, don't hold back! Many...or maybe most .... PW's are similar to modules, albeit bigger and with other players running around doing the quests. Even though most of these PW's are listed as Roleplaying servers, there is little roleplaying actually happening as people work on their scripted individual tasks to level up their character. Charun is differnet and hard to describe unless you have experienced it. I guess I would say it is the first PW I played that I felt truely immersed in the background, roleplay, and adventure. I didn't feel like like I was following someone elses story, but truely making my own. Initially I was drawn to the uniqueness, the focus on realism, and an incredibly rich and fleshed out background (The web site is probably one of the best in the business). What I found was all of that plus a design philosopy that forces roleplay and interaction. There are no quests here and as such you don't have people running here and there bringing a bolt of cloth to this guy or recovering Joe's ring. What you have is fleshed out encounter areas supported by the rich background. It's hardcore open ended adventuring with excellent roleplay further supported by regular DM events. I have not played anything else that feels like this scince my PnP days. It can be hard to get started since you can't do much alone. That said, I found the folks there to be mature, welcoming, and helpful. Once I partied up with a couple of them I was hooked and it appears work is going to be a second priority for awhile. :) The custom content, custom combat rules, and custom spell rules, are a remarkable achievement and contribute heavily to the realism. If you are used to the scripted module and quest approach, you may find it trying to get your first level character going and figuring out what to do. Give it a few days...there is a pot of gold at the end of that rainbow methinks. |
| Muradin02-05-08, 06:45 PM | Sounds interesting, maybe worth a try |
| dmbassa02-06-08, 06:52 AM | Definitely worth a try! I clearly remember back in my old PnP days, when I wished that I had some kind of visual reference of all the great, imaginary things we encountered. That is when I literally freaked out with joy, when the first Neverwinter Nights came out in the summer of 2002. I was incredibly excited about it back then, because I knew that I would finally have great visuals to accompany the imaginary roleplay that we had in our PnP sessions. Not only that, we also had great sound FX and ambient music to really bring up the atmosphere to a whole new level of experience. I cannot count the fond memories I have had with the first Neverwinter Nights game, and now that the newest installment is out, great things are bound to happen! :) Cheers, DMBassa |
