Does a worshipper of Loviatar have to be a masochist??

If so how could I play this, (I already have BoVD), i would much appreciate some other opinions.

Well, you could go with being a sadist over a masochist, preferring to inflict pain rather than recieve. Some churches' clergy are more about appeasing their patron to ward off their ill will rather than summoning their attentions.

Umberlee is a classic example... unless its to bring the wrath of their goddess down on the unfaithful, they don't prefer to suffer storms at sea.

Loviatar is the mistress of pain so she certainly will draw the worship of those who are masochists, but I can easily see others who endure religious rituals of pain when necessary to avoid the greater pains in life and gain power for themselves. They don't have to enjoy pain & suffering, but still must be willing to endure it.

Another question: Can the worshipper be CE or can't this happen because Loviatar is LE?

A worshipper of Loviatar can be chaotic evil... and, strangely, even chaotic good. However, divine spellcasters (clerics, blackguards, or whatever) must maintain the one step alignment rule.

Hmmmm, so a CG worshipper of Loviatar would 'help' by beating all the masochists senseless? :uh-huh:

I like it! :D
