| Gradin08-01-05, 11:04 AM | Would it be frowned upon to play a character in Forgotten Realms named for Drizzit, if you tried to keep aproximately with his story? |
| WVgamer08-01-05, 11:09 AM | The fans of Drizzit would say no Those who hate Drizzt would say yes Me...I don't see a problem, but you can be more original |
| Grem of Surkh08-01-05, 11:16 AM | if he was a scout/ranger type that attacked with scimitars it would be wrong. if he was a dis-illusioned male drow fleeing the underdark to follow the legend of the drow "traitor" who fights for right in the "Night Above" maybe a drow wizard who starts to learn to fight to defend himself as he learns about the surface, or a cleric who has switched from Vharenium (lolths son) to elistraree (the drow deity who is good!!!) Algarond is having an increasing drow and half/drow population |
| Gradin08-01-05, 11:22 AM | I am glad that it would not be some crime, and I argee that I could be more original, but I read the Dark Elf Trilogy and like the image that Drizzit portrays. I have also always like the Dark Elf race in fantasy games and books. :D |
| WVgamer08-01-05, 11:27 AM | keep reading, he gets better ;) |
| The Simbul08-01-05, 01:55 PM | Algarond is having an increasing drow and half/drow population What book is this in? |
| Grem of Surkh08-01-05, 02:02 PM | in the races of faerun book in the chapter devoted to half elves, it dicusses regular half elves, aquatic half elves, and drow half elves, it indicates that since algarond has such a large half elf population that half drow feel like this is the only above ground culture that can accept them... |
| GothicDan08-01-05, 02:13 PM | .... Yes. The Red Wizards find solace in Rashemen because both have such large human populations! Not only is this socially ridiclous, it also implies that a great many Half-Drow are of non-evil alignment. |
| Faraer08-01-05, 02:18 PM | It doesn't matter whether we frown on it, but whether your DM frowns on it, whether it fits or clashes with the campaign. And there is no Realms character called 'Drizzit'. |
| Lashan08-01-05, 02:30 PM | Check with your DM. If he says it's OK, then go for it. |
| Grem of Surkh08-02-05, 12:27 AM | .... |
| BrianCritchley08-02-05, 02:42 AM | .... Yes. The Red Wizards find solace in Rashemen because both have such large human populations! Not only is this socially ridiclous, it also implies that a great many Half-Drow are of non-evil alignment. GD, just for arguements sake, do you oppose good aligned half-orcs? if not why not good aligned half-drow? I mean considering that a good many half-drow are proably simply the inevitable result of when a drow male raids a human village. |
| Another Gnome08-02-05, 08:27 AM | Dambrath is certainly a much larger concentration of half-drow than anywhere else, and with the nation being dominantly evil-aligned, I agree with Dan when it comes to relative number of evil half-drow of the total population. However, a random half-drow hailing from outside Dambrath would only be exposed to an evil-alignment if he or she was raised by Vhaeraunians (whether born from a human or a drow mother, and whether it occurred willingly or not). Lolthite-influenced society (Dambrath being an exception) would simply kill the half-breed alongside with the mother, whereas a human-raised half-drow would be in a situation no different from half-orcs. Even if Eilistraeens were ignored completely in the equation, I'd say the distribution between good and evil half-drow outside Dambrath would be fairly even, with neutral ones probably skewing more to the evil side in response to prejudice. |
| Grem of Surkh08-02-05, 10:51 AM | the entry i reffered to even says that there are less good half drow than full blooded drow... (why is it i always find myself agreeing with AnotherGnome and disagreeing with GothicDan) <high fives AnotherGnome> |
| BadCatMan08-02-05, 11:08 AM | Maybe you're drow just happened to be named Drizzt as well (Drizzt Zezzlisomething say), and you got a lot of crap from the other drow for having the same name as the renegade. Then you snapped and now stalk the surface trying to kill the other Drizzt in revenge. :) |
| Shotgun_badger08-02-05, 11:22 PM | Well if your DM says ok, then it's ok, but if I were him I'd let you do that only to have you encounter the REAL Drizzit just to see ya squirm; but I'm a sadistic guy who hasn't been allowed behind the DM screen after an "incident" so I'm not a great role model for that. |
| Gradin08-04-05, 11:34 AM | Thanks... :uh-huh: |
