| philnicau01-16-07, 04:14 AM | I'm planning to start an Forgotten Realms Campaign soon (after we finish of the Shackled City pack in about 10 weeks), and am planning to focus on Psionics & the Underdark, starting at level 1, My question is would the following make a workable party? 1) Catfolk Psychic Warrior 2) Halfling Psychic Rogue[complete scoundrel] (or Lurk) 3) Grey Dwarf Divine Mind. I know they're weak in healing but i'm going to use a house rule allowing the Divine Mind with the Life mantle to spend 1pp for 1d6 healing (max 9pp=9d6 restricted by manifester level). Also does anybody have a write up for a Naturally Psychic Halfling LA+1. |
| Lord Karsus01-16-07, 11:09 AM | -With enough effort, anything works. -I think that your party blends nicely. The Psychic Warrior has the "bruiser" role, the Psychic Rogue has the "sneak" role, and the Divine Mind (I don't know what that is) seems to have the "magician" role. |
| philnicau01-16-07, 05:51 PM | -the Divine Mind (I don't know what that is) seems to have the "magician" role. The Divine Mind is from the Complete Psionic and is closer to a Cleric, using Psionic Mantles instead of Divine Magic. |
| Lord Karsus01-16-07, 06:48 PM | The Divine Mind is from the Complete Psionic and is closer to a Cleric, using Psionic Mantles instead of Divine Magic. -Well, even still, that character has the "magic" role. Not too much offense, I'm sure, but it'll get the trick done. |
| DreamStalker01-16-07, 08:58 PM | Agreed that this is a workable party. The basics seems to be covered especially since you are giving a healing power to the Divine Mind. As for a psionic halfling worth of LA +1 (assumedly to equate to the other racial members) let me see. Bone Halflings In the ancient past a small community of hin lived among the tall folk of Jhammdath. Their tales speak of wonders that confound modern thought and seemingly defy the accepted scope of magic as is known in modern Faerun. Deadly fortune came to pass upon the human nation in the form of a great deluge that destroyed all their works indiscriminately. These hin whose oral stories recall a time of peaceful coexistence speak of mutual respect afforded them before this disaster. Learned folk skilled at travel and whose masteries of the mind led to athletic talents that no human could rival. The magnitude of the deluge was of a degree to have destroyed all recorded knowledge of these hin who flourished in small numbers during Jhammdath's reign. The Path-Masters of these hin only managed to save one in every fifty of their folk from death. Secret avenues no tall folk could stand erect in were used as an escape, sealed against the onrushing waves of water. Deep into the bones of Toril these hin fled. Aware and knowing of the dangers now facing them, the hin took to a life of survival as priority. Stealth grew from a past time to a livelihood. The fabled halfling luck was honed to mastery. The physical talents that their reputations were based upon allowed the small folk to master the caves and evade the many predatory beasts and peoples who reside below. Never numbering more than a few thousand, the Bone Halflings as they became known travelled north and west through the Unerdark. Roaming family-clans of a hundred or so adults each kept in loose contact with one another. They took to life among the bones of the earth, and scavenged among the bones of other civilizations. For a decade a few clans might reside in a city controlled by some oppressive race. They eek an existence through controled luck and keeping beneath notice. Eventually, after skulking beneath the notice of drow, duergar, illithids and multitude of other unwholesome beings the surviving family-clans of the Bone Halflings now reside in various locales beanthe the North and the Sword Coast. Rumors speak of foul cannibal rituals and necromancy. The truth is however these folk are highly reverent to their anestors. The bones of the fallen are considered sacred relics to be worn as charms. Foes of great respect are also shown a degree of similar treatment. Their leaders speak of Prophecy, that a paradise awaits at the end of the Sea in which they can return to the Light and prove to the world that they are deserving of respect yet again. As the family-clans are now mostly near lands that the Sea is not such a far travel, debate has sparked about which end of the Sea this fabled Paradise will be. Except where otherwise noted, Bone halflings share all of the halflings traits as described in the Players Handbook. -Psionic: Bone halflings are humanoids with the (halfling) and (psionic) subtypes. -Naturally Psionic: Bone Halflings gain 2 bonus power points at 1st level. This benefit does not grant them the ability to manifest powers unless they gain that ability through another source, such as levels in a psionic class. -Darkvision: Bone Halflings spend most of their time rummaging in the filthy cities of the Underdark and have adapted to this lifestyle. However their beliefs speak of a day that they shall return to the light. Bone halflings still visit the surface lands with regularity though with trepidation. A Bone Halflings still retains low-light vision. -Fate's Favor (Su): A Bone Halfling has a honed control of fate. As an immediate action a Bone Halfling can increase her racial luck bonus to saving throws by 2 for every power point spent. -Athletic Mind (SU): A Bone Halfling has a fine tuned sense of mental mastery over the body. When Psionically Focused a Bone Halfling can take 10 on Climb, Jump and Move Silently checks in adverse conditions. A Bone Halfling may expend Psionic Focus to automatically take a result of 15 rather than rolling a d20 on Climb, Jump and Move Silently checks. -Favored Class: Psychic Rogue -Level Adjustment: +1 |
