Well whether you knew it or not, you've been looking for the Forgotten Realms Interactive Atlas. http://www.profantasy.com/fratlas/faq.htm It was a software product released back in the 2.0 days with all (hundreds) of FR maps from all of the source books. The product is just amazinging. Imagine the maps all updated for 3.0? Well perhaps you won't have to imagine for long. http://www.profantasy.com/petition/default.asp Yeah online petitions aren't always effective, but there has been an unorganized push/demand/pleading directed towards WoTC to have this great product re-released. Hopefully they'll hear our collective voice. =)

Tobus Neth 06-27-06, 09:41 PM	I like to have enlarged maps showing more detail (Like Silvermarches, however they failed to do this with the UE and Shining south sourcebooks, of latewotc seemed to do what nobody wants(Moms).

Gray Richardson 07-01-06, 12:07 AM	I would love it if they re-released it. I would certainly buy it if they made it available for download from Paizo.com, Drive-Thru.com or RPGnow.com. Then they wouldn't even have to do a print-run. It could be available indefinitely to those who want to buy it at no marginal cost to WotC, just a guaranteed income stream. ;)

While I like the FRCS style they need to keep the entire map of Toril (i.e. don't throw away whole sections of the map - Erlkazar is completely missing, for example).

Regional sourcebooks are the best places to find maps with smaller villages, thorps and hamlets. If a large, major map included them, there would be no room. Think about it!

Astinex 01-15-07, 05:20 PM	I'm using a little Threadromancy to resurrect this old thread. Personally I would love to see this product re-released and updated to 3.X. Once you have it, it becomes a heavily used tool in your arsenal of gaming products. I’m pretty sure the reason WotC chooses not to spend too much time considering this is due to the perceived waning of interest in it. Occasionally, diehard fans of the product will bring it up and work for a while to get WotC to recognize the potential value this product could give them as well as their customer base. The energy around getting this product revisited soon fades and it’s a while before someone else begins anew the effort to have the product re-released again. This leaves WotC with the impression that the product would only be purchased and used by a small percentage of their customer base, equating too much work for too little return. I honestly feel this is a misperception. A larger percentage of their customer base is becoming more and more reliant on computerized tools for their gaming needs. Online RPG engines, character creation software, game master software suites, digital mapping and graphics, etc. An electronic interactive atlas allows for gamers to include ready made customizable maps for the above applications as well as for their own reference. The truth is I believe this product would be very well received and highly valued by most gamers, especially if WotC expanded the product into a line with customers able to purchase an atlas of their favorite WotC campaign setting. I would imagine the perceived lack of interest in the product is due to customer ignorance. The product was not well marketed when it was first released. I’ve been an avid gamer for over 20 years specifically buying a lot of D&D and Forgotten Realms products. The truth is, I didn’t even hear about the Interactive Atlas until they had discontinued the product. In addition, most gamers I talk to now who were gaming during the original release of the FRCS Interactive Atlas didn’t even know it was available. Once I show it to them I always get the same question, “Were can I get this?” I’m positive the “lack of interest” in this product is due to lack of knowledge. Just not that many people know it ever existed. A testament to its value can be seen on E-Bay. The Atlas goes for $80-$100 dollars for a USED copy if you can find it. This is for a years old piece of software. I have the Atlas and use it a lot. The software is getting to the point of being antiquated in computer terms and an updated version of it would a great boon to my gaming.

MarkusTay63 01-17-07, 02:37 AM	As you can see by my Sig, I obviously want it back. I meant to get it the first time around, but it was out of the stores before I had a chance. I think it was VERY poorly marketed the first time, it was only available (around here) in computer super-stores. Buyers at those stores tend to be more into computer/video games then P&P. The product wasn't available at book and game stores, where the normal customers for such a product can usually be found. Poor marketing = no profit = we'll never see it again because of someone's initial stupidity. The only thing that keeps me from purchasing CC3 is the unavailable of the Atlas. I certainly don't want to have to do ALL those maps from scratch. :(
