Year of Risen Elfkin [Archive] - Wizards Community

10-11-05, 10:25 PM Wondering- what kind of stuff do you predict happening in the Year of Risen Elfkin? Some of the events I could foresee are:
1. The Host of Evermeet kicking out the daemonfey from Myth Drannor and re-establishing a presence there.
2. The daemonfey kicking the Host of Evermeet out of Cormanthor and establishing a presence there.
3. The Eldreth Veruuthra finding the tome to return the city of Myth Adofaer from its High Magic jaunt to the High Forest.
4. The star elves moving back into the Yuirwood and Algarond areas.
5. Dambrath half-drow shaking off the shackles of drow oppression.
6. Myth Glaurach becoming reborn and a member of the Silver Marches.

Any other ideas?

1) I can see this happening.

2) I would love to see the bad guys win for once, but doubt it. Somehow they always roll natural ones at the wrong moments :P

3) Know nothing about this. :whatsthis

4) Don't see it happening soon, it seems to me the Star Elves are content with a 'losing' war for the time being.

5) Unlikely :rolleyes: Most half-drow seem to benefit to much from the current arrangement. The land migth be part of a drow kindgom, but they rule only indirectly. The Half-Drow are in a win-win situation. They get the 'protection' of a Drow State, but for the most part get free reign as long as they do what they drow want.

6) I can see the Everment Host (or some other elvish group) turning it into a base and later maybe into a city, not as a part of the Silver Marches, but part of a new Kingdom.

10-12-05, 06:44 AM I envision Myth Glauroch being rebuilt if not by the Evermeet host then the Wood Elves who are intent on reestablishing Earlann. It will be the possible capital of as-of-yet-unnamed kingdom if they decide to have a capital at all.

The Host of Evermeet has two options: beet the Fey'ri and reestablish the Elven Court (which would be cool) or set up an über realm in the High Forest along with the wood elves.

Personally I think the über realm is a better idea because it consolidates elven power into a nation not just a kingdom. Once consolidation occurs then there is an option of expanding, at least that is the elven way.

from practical perspective yes, but consider how much politics, intrigue, and struggle to get forces organized at the last moment would be lost if they were to unite (infighting and bikering just won't make up for separate kingdoms going away) thus I don't see WotC doing something like this.

10-12-05, 09:23 AM Having read the second of the Last Mythal books, I think the main protagonist has to retrieve some major mythal knowledge to contain Countess Sarya where she is now. It would appear to be too much of a recurrence of ancient events if she gets imprisoned there as the devils were beforehand. Honestly, while I would assume that the Wizards will curb her powers somewhat, a fair threat to the otherwise "peaceful" Realms would provide a change for a few years. If this sparks the return of the elves to Faerûn, all the better.

Just in case, I am not looking for despair and destruction ... but - Shades and their already restricted powers aside - the Realms haven't seen a Realms-shaking event since the ToT some 15 years ago. (No, I don't count the orc-storm up there in the Nroth Realms-shaking, while the influx of the scorpion-men into the Underdark have yet to gain any more attention in the sourcebooks aside from Monsters of Faerûn.)

(No, I don't count the orc-storm up there in the Nroth Realms-shaking, while the influx of the scorpion-men into the Underdark have yet to gain any more attention in the sourcebooks aside from Monsters of Faerûn.)
Next one is already in the making - Paul Kemp's next novel series, a follow-up to the Erevis Cale Trilogy, is set to include a Realms-shaking event. :)

10-12-05, 04:10 PM My take on the whole year of risen elfkin thing
1.The host from Evermeet will win with the destruction of Sarya and her nephew and destruction of the last Mythal of Aryvandaar which will raze of the ruins of Myth Drannor(thus crushing many the hearts of DM's everywhere who love to use it as a place to explore, but hey they took away Hellsgate Keep,whose to say they won't take away Myth Drannor).
2.I think that for once the Elves of Light will win and the Demonfey threat destroyed
3.No, I do not think that this will happen. If it did, it certainly be a good thing, a strong elf city that through remorse removed itself from Faerun will be interesting addition to the already changing North(I love all that is happening in the Silver Marches/High Forest)
4.Yes, I do think that the Star Elves will return, but only after a very bloody war with their enemies
5.No, not going to happen
6. Actually, I think that at last the Srinshee will return and one of the main protoganists in the Last Mythal series will draw the Rulers Blade and again establish a Coronal on the Faerun side of the ocean. I would love to see an uber-elven nation in Fearun again, I think it would be nice if it would be in Cormanthor, a foil for the mounting evil in the region(Shades, Zhents, Hillsfar, drow etc.) when it is needed most with the extreme weakening of Cormyr(as a DM , the heartlands are where the fun is at).
