| MerrikCale07-14-07, 08:09 PM | I started a thread like this a few months ago over at the 'Keep. I always find other adventuring parties interesting. There make up and their history. So lay it on me. Gimme your parties name, characters, and even a bit of its history. I loved that stuff. |
| Slayergnome07-14-07, 08:40 PM | I am Dming a first level group through some mods set in Forgotten Realms (Boarder Kingdoms). They are all first level looking to inspire and get a name as heroes. They don't have group name as of yet. Stockdale Half/orc Barbarian 2nd level. Stockdale was a low end fighter who was being taken advantage of by his manager to do low end pit fights. He joined the party when Eddie and Lou picked up on the situation. Lou made a deal with the manager and beat Stockdale in a fight. Therefore winning him his freedom. In thanks he joined the party and has been with them ever since. Eddie Greentoes Halfling Bard 2nd level. Eddie Greentoes was a traveling bard and drunkered who trying to seek a name for himself and his fellows joined up with Lou and eventually Stockdale to do good deeds...and sing of them in the future. Lou Human Monk 2nd level. Lou was a simple monk seeking to advance his abilities in the martial and mental aspects of his class. He joined with Eddie Greentoes and traveled south towards the Boarder Kingdoms to seek his fortune and hone his skills. Erky Timbers Gnome Fighter1/Cleric 1 During the groups first adventuer into the Sunless Citadel they freed a good natured Gnome from imprisionment by a group of Goblins and he joined them in the desire for vengence along with to see to their healing needs. |
| Darkarcher73607-14-07, 09:27 PM | Well, my part only has two PC's, and being new to the Realms, we are still fleshing out our characters. Zeifnir Farveiw CE Male Drow Factotum 3 Zeifnir is a younger Drow who stays true to his evil roots. After failing a hunt in the Underdark searching for a devious Balhannoth, he was badly wounded and only managed to escape while his fellow hunters were all killed. He fled back to his city, onlt to be stoped and informed that his family had learned the news, and if seeking out Zeifnir for fleeing the battle and allowng his friends to die. Zeifnir flees to the surface world and lives in an underground caver located in a remote area of The Vast, only to cause his family to waste their time searching for them. Zeifnir finally decided to travel to Baldur's Gate when he meets.... Darius CE Male Human Ninja 1 (This is actually my brothers character, and he has yet to even give him a good back story :P ). |

| Captain_Impulse07-18-07, 08:38 AM | Falaris Ruhn, Red Wizard of Thay (NPC, party leader) Human Wizard 5 / Red Wizard 2 Falaris Ruhn is a man who long ago sold his soul to the only god he recognizes: money. Living in the shadow of the former glory of his household, Ruhn attempts to elevate his status in the eyes of his peers by any means necessary. His reach and ambition often outreach his grasp, and he is often forced to rely on the talents of his trained henchmen to achieve his goals. Other than his monetary assets and noble lineage, his existence is a hollow echo of the long lost glory of his household. Falaris is the owner of the PCs, who are purchased slaves in his service. Falaris is unique amongst his Red Wizard brethren in that he treats his slaves more like mercenaries than property. He pays them well and generally tries to keep them happy so they don't turn against him. Gideon Kane Human Priest of Kossuth 4 / Monk 2 Gideon is a devout follower of Kossuth who believes that by fire all shall be judged. Gideon is a master of hand-to-hand combat and has recently come into possession of (but as of yet unable to use) a "Flamerod"; a sword with a blade made entirely of flame that can only be called forth by the most devout followers of Kossuth. Tyrus Thul Human Evoker (Force Specialist) 5 Apprentice to Falaris Ruhn, Tyrus recently returned to Ruhn's service after graduating from University one year earlier than normal. Tyrus is fiercely loyal to Ruhn and also firmly believes in the laws of Thay as not only being just, but essential to maintaining a structured society. Tyrus' favorite quote comes from that of former Tharchion and Zulkir Aznar Thrul: "Tyranny is always better organized than freedom." Tebis Reinfield Human Priest of Bane 5 A cowardly creature, Tebis, a feebly-built individual, clads himself in the heaviest of plate to protect himself as best as possible, since he lacks the physical stature for melee combat. Tebis' preferred method of dealing with enemies is lambasting them with the word of Bane and forcing them to submit to his will. Tebis' rantings have been known to coerce an entire mob to cease their charge. Victor Darkwell Human Ninja 5 / Assassin 1 Moving unseen, Victor skulks in the shadows, rarely revealing himself to the eyes of people outside of his party. Victor trained in the distant lands of Kara-Tur before returning to his homeland in Rashemen. However, he was set upon by Thayan abductors and sold into slavery. Finding himself in the service of Falaris Ruhn, a rather generous "employer", Victor has come to enjoy his "servitude"; getting paid to kill is exactly what he wants, and as a fugitive, there are always people coming after him to kill. Azryl Paige Human Fighter 5 / Thayan Knight 1 One of Falaris Ruhn's most recent purchases, Azryl is a silent but capable warrior who wields twin short blades. Her mirthless personality hides a secret agenda that has so far been kept a secret from the rest of her party. Originally disgusted by being purchased by a pig like Falaris Ruhn, she has recently begun to care for her master, despite her initial distaste for the man. Tess Naharren Human Scout 6 Before being captured and sold into slavery, Tess was a scout in a military unit who had seen a lot of bloodshed. Apparently this exposure to the dark side of mankind drove her a slightly mad. Tess has taken a particular interest in the surgical experiments of former party member Dr. Iago Feldraken, who implanted a parasitic draconian egg into the body of a half-orc slave. Tess watches gleefully as the days pass by and the half-orc victim, now placed in her care, is slowly consumed from the inside and turned into a horrific abomination. Natsumi Li Halfling Rogue 5 Purchased alongside Azryl, Natsumi was taken from her homeland in Luiren originally to be sold as a sex slave to those with a taste for..."underage" partners. Fortunately she was "rescued" by Falaris' overzealous bid at the slave market. Ironically, Falaris ended up capitalizing on her youthful looks to bribe a Magistrate into overlooking the party's departure from Bezantur, even though they are wanted men. Crighton ("Complex") Human Wizard (no specialty) 5 Formerly a slave under Falaris, Crighton carries the blood of a shrewd merchant in his veins. Capitalizing on various rewards and dealing under the table, Crighton raised enough funds to buy his freedom from Falaris. As a free man, Crighton opened up a shop where he crafted and traded magic items for a discount. Unfortunately, his involvement with in a murder of a local politician forced him to close shop and flee for his life. Ironically, he found himself working side-by-side with Falaris and his bodyguards, who are also wanted for the same murder. Kruben "the Knife" Human Fighter 3 / Rogue 2 When Crighton fled Bezantur for his life, he knew he would be an easy target for anyone coming after him. He encountered Kruben, a bodyguard-for-hire and quickly employed his services with a huge down payment and a contract for 6 months of service. Kruben was formerly a pit fighter in Mulhorand who found that life too tedious, and set out northward in search of something more exciting. Now that he's with Crighton, he's been implicated for the same crimes as his master and is constantly under attack, something that he relishes. |
| Crust07-18-07, 03:36 PM | Age of Worms campaign; set along the Sword Coast north, currently Waterdeep. The Diamond Hawks Celendil Graycloak: CG male elf scout 9/deepwood sniper 2 The face of the Diamond Hawks and the youngest of seven brothers, Celendil's bow rarely misses its mark. He's embroiled in a relationship with the beautiful rogue of a rival adventuring group. Kragg: NG male werewolf (augmented half-orc) ranger 5/stalker of Kharash 5 The "Blackwolf," Kragg is favored by the guardinal lord Kharash, tasked with "sniffing out" evil (particularly undead) in all its foul forms. Illance Raknian, aka Ike Bigguns: CG male human rogue 6/invisible blade 5 The illegitimate son of the late Loris Raknian, Illance (or Ike as his fellow party members call him) is trying to make sense of his checkered past. Kal-Drac: LN male lizardfolk druid 11 (Silvanus) The only surviving son of the Twisted Branch's last true lizard king, Kal-Drac quests for the memory of his father and the greatness of his people. Now the tribe's wayward chieftain, he searches for the secret behind stopping the rising scourge of the Kyuss worm. Marzena (AoW NPC): LN female human sorceress 5/incantatrix 3 After being rescued by the Diamond Hawks, Marzena pledged herself to the heroes and now quests with them. Titus Blacksmith: LG male half-orc fighter 11 Proud, stern, and strangely regal, Titus could pass for a paladin... until the blades come out, that is. After witnessing the heroics of the Diamond Hawks, Titus knew he'd found his calling. Kiara Mooncaster: LG female human cleric 9 (Selune) The party cleric, Kiara came to them after receiving a vision from her patron, Selune. Kiara was to later guide Kragg to his destiny in service to Kharash as a good-aligned lycanthrope. Thak: LG male human monk 7/ninja 4 Thak met the Diamond Hawks in Daggerford, a lone investigator ferreting out dopplegangers loyal to The Unseen. Their quests converged, and Thak has been adventuring with them ever since. They recently claimed the Champion's Belt at the Field of Triumph's annual gladiator games. Their winnings should allow them to more than adequately equip themselves for the next leg of the campaign: the jungles of Chult. |
| Lady_Mhaor07-18-07, 04:09 PM | Huh heres my current group Swords of Twilight Kreal Nightfall: NE Teifling 10rogue/5shadowdancer/2assassin Great grandchild of Mask Argusk Miniks: CE Human 6fighter/4rogue/3Strifelord A loyal cyricist who's only breathing because ig the tiefling doesn't know he worships cyric -.- Kinzo: TN Half-orc 10fighter/1wizard some halforc loyal to kreal, I think Soraya: LG half-celesital 15 paladin of Torm Yeah a paladin. . shut up. . .shes in the group because she cant prove Kreal and Arqusk are evil. | bitter thorn07-19-07, 11:52 PM | -I wish I had a party...:( No offense, but how can you not find someone to game with in Brookland? If you are ever in Colorado I would consider it an honor to DM a guest appearance for you. Our group has trouble managing its numbers. I would think an area as big as NYC would have more gamers than you could shake a stick at. Back on topic, I'll try to put out some details of the Dancing Dragons and the Helderson Strikers as as soon as I can. |
| Tseramed07-20-07, 02:15 AM | The group I DM for has no known name as of yet but their adventuring has been quite on the border of the law even though they are doing it for the greater good. :P ( Time of the Campaign: 1372, Tarsakh) Kiira Lars de Amn: Human Female Monk 8, LG. Member of the order of the broken ones of Illmater, she was on a pilgrimage when she met the group in Eveningstar in Cormyr. She has now gotten into a bigger plow to get an artifact for her church before some other forces get to it. ( Well they already did...) Mykhal Illikyl Borodurok: Snirfvbelin Male Cleric 5, CG. A follower of Callarduran Smoothhands, Mykhal was exiled from Bligdenstone and found adventuring more pleasant than holing up near Sylverymoon waiting for a messiah. A while ago he could not speak Chondathan at all and only communicated by signs or drawing as nobody in the group talked Undercommon. He finally got to learn a bit more of the surfaces langages and now can speak a bit more than "beer" or "sleep". Olaf Dàllakköl: Illuskan Male Barbarian 8, CG. Coming from the Moonshae's islands, Olaf was taken and made a slave by some brigands. Soon he found himself being shipped from hands to hands by slavers and found the party in Arabel while the city was in Civil War. He was held by a zhent affiliated trader. The party liberated him and he owes them a debt so he fights alongside them. He has recently being afflicted by a serious blow to the head by a stone giant in the Stonelands that impaired his vision... He is becoming blind. Sire Didier Audinot: Human Male Paladin 5, Purple Dragon Knight 2, LG. Born in Suzail, Didier was trained in the ways of Paladin at a very young age and soon fought for Cormyr amongst the Radiating Heart Order, an order of Helm. After the liberation of Arabel and the Civil War almost over the Purple Dragons remaining in the city accepted him in training to become a sworn protector of the land. Recently he was betrayed by an old mentor of his youth and wants vengeance even though in his heart he wants to forgive him. Roberc Hallandar: Ghostwise Halfling Male Rogue 8, N. Roberc's tribe was attacked by drows when he was young and most of the people he knew were killed. His father though was captured along with more halflings and since then Roberc travels the world looking for him. At 16 years old, he is the youngest of the group and it is no surprise people mistakes him for a kid. He recently got a membership in a newly formed thieve's guild and serves as a linking agent. Bareris Seprèt: Rashemi Male Transmuter 5, Red Wizard 2, N. Leaving Thay, Bareris' master sent him on a mission to recover scrolls of great power in the west. He made his way all the way to Cormyr where he met the group in Arabel to learn that they were looking for some artefacts. He aided the group as a hired gun for a while but joined them later when he learned that one of the artefact they were looking for was an artefact he was also looking for: Scrolls from fallen Netheril. He has a Tressym Familiar and is kind of a hard ass almost always using fire spells. Lia Amastacia Elf Female Bard 7, CN. Hailing from Evereska, Lia also joined the group later as she found out they were good songs topic. She then hung out with them and became a valuable ally after learning how to use her magic potential other than to create or modify sound. She doesn't really like adventuring but still continues to because she needs topics to sing about. I consider myself lucky to have such a group. During the Campaign two PCs have died and were replaced: A Dhampir Ranger ( from Ravenloft... Never Again!!! Broken race ahoy...") and a Wild Elf Sorcerer. In case you are wondering the Campaign started in Eveningstar and they explored a bit of the Haunted Halls and then got hooked in a plot to recover some Artefacts before an unknown evil power does. They were succesful in recovering an artefact in the Storm Horns and a portal key in the lost tomb of Boldovar Obarskyr that led to the Silver Marches were two artefacts were. Then, they got stuck in Arabel that was plunged in a Civil War after the Goblin Occupation. Turns out the Civil War was instigated by the Bearlear Family and mercenaries from the Thousand Heads corporation. The mastermind behind it all had one of the Artefacts recovered by minions and was about to send it to the one looking for those pieces of power. Luckily, the PCs got there before he could and exposed his scheme to the local Purple Dragon enclave. Then they journeyed to the Stonelands to find a portal to the Silver Marches (Sundabar) and when they got there, got betrayed and all the artefacts they had were stolen. Their reputation was fouled and they were labeled as killers for an old incident and as instigator for helping Arabel "free" itself from Cormyr. Now, the BBEG has all the Artefacts and is about to free an ancient being (his father) that he recovered and brought to his domain in the Stonelands. So all in all, we're at the end of a storyarc with a great Conclusion incoming. The battle is imminent and with no help on their side except an old magician who went into hiding ( Vangerdahast), meabe, just meabe they can win the day... Or die forgotten by all. Sorry about the long post... gee... didn't notice how long it is. :( |
| Diffan07-20-07, 09:30 AM | We currently have an avatar campaign going on, set in the current year. We were whisked away to Faerun when our current DM bought a book at a local pawn shop to use for flavor in our games. Upon using the book, reading some pages of it for dramatical effects, something happened. The book floated by itself, pages turning of they're own accord. It seemed as if our DM was magically trapped, ensorcelled, as he kept reading, faster and faster, his voice becoming deeper, louder. A rumbling could be heard and before anyone knew it, the floor boards broke apart reveiling a gaping portal that sucked us all in.... Swords of the Phoenix Sir Marcus: Male human Knight 5, LG. Big and strong, he knows the most about Faerun and is the most diplomatic of the group. He found faith in Torm while adventuring and is serving him by doing what's right and just where ever he and his friends go. He's friendly and kind if a bit naive and always tries to see the best in things as well as people. "It's a shame they had to die, but what's done is done. First round at the pub is on me!" Lady Megan: Female sun elf wizard 5, NG. Shocked at what she was transformed into by the strange magic that pulled her into the Realms didn't stop her from learning the Arts as most elves do. She says that it's because of her elven blood that draws her to the weave that she can perform magic. "Learning it comes easily to one who did so well in school." Timmy, The Dark: Male human wizard 2/warlock 3, CN. Cousin to Marcus, he didn't find faiths in the Gods but the strange insidious magic of the infernal. The teleportation didn't change his temperment of being the dark loner of the group, but enhanced it. His thirst for knowledge of dark sorceries and necromancy have gained him much power and he is seen as odd by his friends with quotes like, "I see dead people. Can I play with them?" Lashiec: Male half-moon elf rogue 1/swordsage 4, CG. Self proclaimed leader of the Swords of the Phoenix, aka Jim, he's amused by what's transpired and even more so at his own transformation. "Being half-elven has it's quirks as well as it's perks with the ladies. Just go ask that chick over there!" Learning his sword work with who ever can teach him in the various cities he's visited as earned him some acclaim and enemies. Currently he's being hunted by an assassin and that tends to keep him on his toes. Sir Peter Male human cleric 5, NG. Upon entering the Realms, Pete recieved visions and communed with what he thinks is the deity Lathander. This religious experience urged him into joining the ranks of Lathander's clergy. Though he might slip an occassional, "Sometimes I hate duct taping you people back together!", his faith in Lathander is strong and has quickly ascended into the clergy's knighthood. Mac: Male shield dwarf barbarian 2/fighter 3, CG. Though disgruntled about his stature, usually shouting "Why do you always have to make fun of the short fat guy?!", Mac seems to have found a deep love for his new dwarven constitution and an even deeper one for Ale. He's always quick to rush into battle, heedless of the party's position and the dangers he might cause for the thrill of swift violence and a good after party. Gimmland: Male shield dwarf dwarven fighterRoS1/barbarian 1/fighter 3, NG. Some what dour at times, Gimmland, aka Eric, has made the best of what he can out of the situation. Finding a love for crafts, he's apprenticed himself to the blacksmiths and bakers of Beregost (The Swords of the Phoenix's home) with suprising skill. Never to shy away from battle, he usually gets caught up in the ferver when Mac charges into the fray. "Ah well, screw it. Aaahhhhhh!" After coming to the Realms, the Swords of the Phoenix have done some remarkable things. Stopping Zhent conspiracies in Beregost, returning the Golden Chalace of Lathander to the temple of Morning after ruining a plot by the cult of Shar to pervert it into an artifact of shadow, and saving a town of people from a small troll invasion. After gaining audience with Khelben Blackstaff, he's endeavored to locate this fabled Earth in an attempt to send them back but with no avail. While searching, he's asked them to look into a matter concerning a newly constructed temple to Mystra in Cormyr and report back to him. This is the beginning of the Cormyr: Tearning of the Weave campaign. |
| Alleran07-20-07, 10:46 AM | The most recent one: Valan - Male Half-Elf, Sorceror 19, Archmage 2, Chosen of Mystra template. I'm still surprised that the poor bugger survived my ruthless DMing of how hard it was to survive getting the Silver Fire "put in him" by Mystra. Astriel - Female Human, Fighter 10, Knight of the Weave 10, Rogue 2. Tirmaun - Male Half-Elf, Cleric of Azuth 25. Estirdath - Male Dwarf, Fighter 18, Dwarven Defender 4 There was another character, but she's currently dead and the PCs are busy trying to resurrect her (Azuth decided that the character in question wasn't going to get a resurrection from Tirmaun). |
| Leukrythus07-20-07, 11:00 AM | If anyone wants to watch an arcane chess match between between a PC Wizardess (L7) and an NPC Sorcerer (L9), start reading at (Game Thread, Page 20, Post #292 (http://boards1.wizards.com/leaving.php?destination=http://www.penandpapergames.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=69)). One on one the sorcerer should win, but the team of 8 players should beat the 3 NPCs. This extended encounter will go on a bit, the player is doing all the right things. |
| dragonheart07-20-07, 11:07 AM | No offense, but how can you not find someone to game with in Brookland? If you are ever in Colorado I would consider it an honor to DM a guest appearance for you. Our group has trouble managing its numbers. I would think an area as big as NYC would have more gamers than you could shake a stick at. yes but finding them and finding "good" players can be a real problem - as can finding the time in a very busy life - or lives - of said players when all can meet. I'm now out in SUffolk county and haven't even had much time to do more than keep my campaign current. If LK and others in the area are interested in more feel free to PM me. |
| Lord Karsus07-20-07, 02:47 PM | you seem down man -Yeah... :: Cue sad music :: No offense, but how can you not find someone to game with in Brookland? -You'd be surprised. I would think an area as big as NYC would have more gamers than you could shake a stick at. -The problem is that I don't exactly have a lot of friends, and the comic places that I do go to don't seem to have an D&D players. The small group that I do play D&D with hasn't met in a few months, for various reasons. We are planning to get back together soon, though. |

| Slayergnome07-21-07, 02:09 AM | -I wish I had a party...:( Could they survive your greatness? |
| Link18207-21-07, 04:08 AM | I'm right over in NJ. Tried to find a group when I thought mine was breaking up. It's not that easy. Here's my PCs Zhuul Star Elf Sorcerer 14 This dude is always playing a sorcerer and always hurling evoker type spells. I think it's because of the heavy 1E influence. These guys played a 1E campaign before I started DMing right before 3E. Zhuul is the son of this guys character in our 23rd level campaign. Kamptherian Moon Elf Dragon Shaman (Brass) 14 An elf charged with hunting down looted elven art and treasure in the area. This guy really digs this class and plays it well. I never thought I would, but I like the Dragon Shaman. Its hardly a substitute for a cleric's healing though. Kiri Frostbrand Samuri/Ronin 10/3 Kind of a wierd choice but she's as good as any fighter. Some have called the Ronin PrC completely worthless. If it is, I admire this dude taking it because it fits his characters theme and backstory as a disgraced noble Xorit Fey'ri Rogue/Assassin 9/3 This PC plays him well. Always sneaking about and studying for the kill. Stays out of melee. He recently got paralyzed by a symbol of stunning and fell into a vat of acidic mud while trying to pry the stereotypical gem eye off a stereotypical giant frog god idol. (I actually made it an idol of Borem of the Boiling Mud a tribe of Bullywugs worship through their warlock "high priests") Lamrock Knight 13 This PC has a great backstory that drove alot of the campaign and allowed me to develop Raksasha's as villans. Not sure about this class though. We refer to him as Sir Meatshield, which is really all a Knight seems to be good for. Monkey Monk 14 a newbie, this guy plays the monk as very greedy. Perhaps he's a Monk of Waukeen. Either way, a good time. Roarin Warmage/Swashbuckler/Spellblade 5/5/3? a good character, he's got a "fire" theme going. This kid has gone out of his way to optomize his character though. As a newbie he thinks he's pimped his PC out so that he can take on any BBEG. He learned the hard way that one Feeblemind can ruin your dream of taking out the bad guys single handedly when the rest of the party is pinned down and struggling. It was funny, the entire table was telling this dude he was suicidal and going to die. He still wouldn't listen. Good thing the bad guy was an Enchanter. |
| Lord Karsus07-22-07, 12:05 AM | Could they survive your greatness? -Perhaps not. |
| Diffan07-22-07, 04:00 AM | LK, anytime your in Pittsburgh, let me know and we'll see about gaming. I'd consider it an honor to have you at the table with us. |
| Lord Karsus07-22-07, 05:38 PM | -Geeze, I think I'm going to have to organize a road trip. -Hmm...Karsuscon 2008. :plotting: |
| Kirk9907-23-07, 12:37 AM | Golden Fields Fellowship Hibjillottyx Kallamyr the Golden A young gold wyrmling 2/monk2/healer 1 (using the dragon class levels from Dragon magazine) who escaped his mothers murderous rampage during the year of rogue dragons (when she savagely devoured the rest her clutch) and taken in by the knight of the Broken Goblet known as Fabian Hightide Hibjillottyx (Hibyx) is the party diplomat and scout, devoted to Ilmater and wishes to become a great healer. Hopes to one day turn his back on violence altogether and settle into a life of reflection among his monastic brothers and sisters at the fabled monastery of the yellow rose. Karamundi Fairhorn Uk Calimport Calashite human ninja 2/ warlock 4 Alcoholic misanthrope from an abusive and terrifying line of infernal ancestors who now runs from his evil family and their ties to the underworld of the south seeking to break the bonds that mark his soul. This young man inherited not only a great amount of dirty gold upon his 21st birthday but also a family curse just as all Fairhorn males do and will... Karamundi has a hellish shackle upon his soul –an ‘honor debt’ to a lord of Avernus! Only Karamundi has vowed to use his blasphemous boon for helping others instead of subjugating them like his dammed father. This warlock has a price on both his head –and his soul! Will his talent for vanishing allow him to disappear long enough to find a way to save himself and the future of his baby son back in Calimport? Vertha Fallendusk Half(moon)elf Wu Jen 6 Not a lot is known about this quiet and unassuming woman other than she likes to keep her own company, doesn’t eat meat and only wears the colour blue. Vertha sits away from the group and never takes off her freaky jesters mask; Vertha is an extremely capable spell-slinger and warps the weave to her will with a flick of her wrist! In the heat of battle she often is very commanding and acts as the parties leader -barking orders like a cormyrian warwizard but once the dust settles and the enemies are defeated she withdraws back into her shell once more, speaking little –if at all and generally disturbing the rest of the party. Vertha often talks to herself and is very superstitious, she doesn’t seem to sleep and her only true friend is the faithful Phynixkin that follows her everywhere. The other members of the Golden Fields Fellowship like to guess at her past and invent stories about her as even her race is a mystery to them. Her pointed ears and fair skin would suggest elf blood but none know for sure. Imris Kai Blackfang Marauder and Dragonslayer Nar human barbarian 6 cleric (Tempus) 1 Imris is a simpleton with barely any knowledge of the world beyond the wood, spurning the written word and deathly afraid of cities and magic. During the year of rogue dragons he and his family were driven from their homeland and slaughtered by agents of the cult of the dragon. Imris alone survived killing a huge greeen wyrm that fateful night and has vowed to get his revenge against the wizards, undead and dragons that ruined his life. It took him a long time to accept that all dragons aren’t evil and thanks to Hibyx he has learnt to trust that the metallic’s are at least worthy of friendship. Imris recently declared his love for Vertha during a drunken outburst as the party camped and celebrated after a victory against a hillgiant chieftain near the Ardeep. Vertha has yet to say or do anything about the matter –although she has allowed Imris to sit with her -even going so far as to allow him to pour her a cup of water! Imris has just unearthed a heavy black mace during a trip to the house of stone and has begun to receive strange and foreboding visions. The barbarians personality has been a little ‘off’ lately and the group suspect he may be possessed! Imris thinks the others are jealous of his increased strength and toughness and envy his ability to walk on water or up sheer walls since finding the ‘battle fathers mace’. Kestral of the Vines Whisper gnome rogue 6. This funny little chap is a sneaky and gluttonous scamp with the heart of Nobanion himself! Once diving straight into a purple worm’s mouth in order to kill the beast from within! Kestral loves to jump from high places, ride his magebred warhound standing straight up in the saddle, play with fire, slide down frosty hillsides and loves been thrown (By Imris or Ulmah’ka) like a dagger at an enemies neck. Even death doesn’t hold him back or calm him down! Kestral died a month ago during an attack from Sharran assassins, luckily Ulmah’ka was able to return his spirit to its body and Kestral continues to be the groups thrill seeking free spirit (mascot). Upon returning to life Kestral discovered a runic symbol on his forehead –normally covered up by his long hair –so far Kestral has only told Ulmah’ka of this abnormality and both are now trying to discern the marks nature, so far it seems to be a symbol used in various holy texts in reference to planar geometry most notably the house of nature. Ulmah’ka This tall and gentle goliath lady is a sweet and loving influence on the group acting as mother and carer for all –few would guess at her past as a trained killer… Ulmah’ka left her mountain homeland in the Anauroch bound in chains as a slave at the age of fifteen; the zhent slavemaster thought she and her family would make excellent fighters for the arena in Hillsfar. Ulmah’ka and her kin were forced to fight for the amusement of the seedy and rich. Ulmah’ka was baptised in blood and combat, mentally broken and rebuilt over many long months by her captors until she became so inhuman she had no emotion at all –she was simply a weapon. On her masters command she destroyed even her own kin –proving her ‘worth’ to her owner and then graduating into a select group of Banite assassins known only to high ranking Zhentarim commanders. On her first mission to kill a cleric of Lathander in Westgate (while disguised as a circus freak) as she pushed her blade into the mans throat she felt his gaze hold her fast, the cleric smiled a forgiving smile at her as his life passed from his body and Ulmah’ka had a flashback to her old life in the mountains feeling a warm glow surround her that has not left her since. Again Ulmah’ka was reborn… she took the murdered clerics holy symbol and ran far away to Waterdeep not looking back. Sir Fabian Hightide chondathan human Hexblade 2/Binder 2/Warlock 3 A bright young man who is loyal and true to his friends and himself. Knight of Ilmater and hero! Fabian was witness to the rampage of the avatar of Garagos in Westgate as a child. The mighty deity walked right by him and as the divine beings shadow fell over Fabian he felt otherworldly power change him forever. Since that day Fabian has been quicker in mind and body of those his own age and ‘known’ things about to happen. Some say it’s because of his strange left eye (which is completely black) while others shun him thinking him touched by a foul god or in league with devils. Fabian has had a difficult life but managed to get on with things surprisingly well, adapting his ‘gifts’ to suit his needs -other ‘normal folk’ don’t seem to recall that fateful day in Westgate the same way he can, almost as if their memory is befuddled and hazy and the events are disappearing from the collective consciousness like some half remembered dream upon waking –nevertheless Fabian remembers clearly and has been able to tell fortunes, curse others and speak with creatures from beyond this realm all because the shadow of a god fell over him! Fabians left eye doesn’t see the mortal world instead it sees into the planes beyond and the godrealms mortals shouldn’t even have knowledge of. Normally Fabian keeps his left eye under a patch or bandage as it can be distracting, sometimes disturbing –this has lead to many thinking he is blind in that eye… Fabian can shoot black fire from his ‘blind’ eye when he needs to but it pains him to do so -sometimes the eye trails violet flames and the young man must keep the visor of his helm pulled down low if he doesn’t want to attract attention. Fabian joined the Imatarian Knights of the broken goblet at the age of fourteen and quickly rose through the ranks until his gifts were discovered and he was sent away as a missionary to Damara –where he found his young gold wyrm friend Hibjillottyx Kallamyr and became an adventurer. |

| Slayergnome07-23-07, 10:46 AM | I am Dming a first level group through some mods set in Forgotten Realms (Boarder Kingdoms). This whole adventuring band was slain by a strange transformed cleric who gained troll like abilities to a lesser degree. |
| Asgetrion07-24-07, 09:13 PM | Our Waterdeep campaign has been running for 13 years now (in RW time) and although it is focused on the City of Splendors and the North, we have travelled all over the Realms during these years (Amn, Cormyr and Tethyr, mainly). I could probably write at least twenty pages about our characters and the campaign in general, but I try to keep details to the "bare-bones" minimum. Note that we have not used many canon events in our campaign, although some of them might yet come to pass later on. Since we are still playing 3.0 edition (originally AD&D), some of the stats may seem "wrong" or lacking. Our adventuring company was naively named Heroes of the North by my 1st level energetic (and extremely naive) bard, Wilfred Rollingshoulder. The name stuck, since all of the characters liked it ("It really sounds so epic and glorious!"). Of course, all the others were young and naive, too :D The company is also known as Heroes of the Northland (for reasons known only to the DM) in Amn and Tethyr. All of the original (non-noble) characters were eventually ennobled for their services to Waterdeep (hence the honorary title of Sir or Saer). Lord Barun Tesper (N hm F16) - The scion of House Tesper, and a relentless master swordsman, who acts as the formal leader and spokesman for the company. He joined the company years ago, while investigating the activities of the Unseen. Lord Barun is burdened by his (self-imposed) duties to protect the weak and to champion all dwarven causes. The latter is due that he wields Kharrka Somrian - a greatsword dedicated to the faith of Dumathoin. A true diplomat and nobleman, Lord Tesper worships Helm, Tempus, Tyr and Dumathoin - yet his heart is most devoted to Selûne (and her high priestess, Lady Naneatha Suaril). Lord Arakin Brokengulf (N hem Psion13?) - Sometimes called "Mad Arakin" (but never to his face ;), this elderly half-elf member of House Brokengulf went into self-exile to meditate/contemplate in High Forest after discovering his strange psionic powers. It was there that the Heroes met and befriended him on one of their journeys, eventually persuading him to return to Waterdeep as a full member of the company. Sir Zereck Sunnydale (CN Halfling F13/Rog1) - Senior Civilar in the City Guard of Waterdeep, who recently chose to retire to have more time for adventuring. Known for using effective and innovative grappling hook -tactics and his passion for Zzar and mint pudding (!). A very loud-mouthed and aggressive urban Halfling, who probably is the largest and strongest member of his race in the North (although his grandfather is also a serious candidate for this title). Zereck is a fervent follower of Tempus, God of War, and briefly became his Chosen to wield the Red Book of War against the Sythisillian Horde in Amn. Sir Najar Yubus ("The Fists"), Glorious Guardian of the North, High Watcher of Helm of Waterdeep (LG hm Pal13/Clr2 of Helm) - One of the founding members of the Heroes, who acted as the leader and spokesman for many years, until finally chose to semi-retire from adventuring life for churchly duties. He became the High Watcher after the Unseen had slain the former high priest (the only Helmite priest residing in the modest shrine). Sir Yubus wields the Holy Avenger, Godswrath, which was originally hidden in the deeper complex of the Blue Alley. Sir Ruther Wildfire (CG hem Wild Mage 9/Wizard 13) - One of the founding members, who was trained by the mysterious mage Sabbar. Actually, Sabbar had mistaken Ruther for a cleaner, and found out after two years that he was, in fact, an apprentice candidate :) Ruther is still very young (18 years old) but already a force to be reckoned with. His mysterious studies into Wild Magic have caused many hair-raising moments and a lot of trouble for his fellow adventurers, yet Lord Barun is convinced that he should become the Archmage of Waterdeep once Khelben steps down from his office (Sir Yubus once noted that "He is just a young boy with too much power and magic in his hands!"). High Dawn Receiver and Morninglord, A'laess O'deer (NG hm/aasimar? Cleric 15/Contemplative1) - A Halruaan priest, who worships a different aspect of Lathander, known as "Father Sky" (a heretic). Recently transformed into an aasimar/half-celestial (no one else beside himself knows which) by Lathander's will, to help in the coming battle against the Evil buried under Ascore. A'laess is the only commoner in the Heroes, since Rezdal was ennobled recently. Sir Rezdal of Zazesspur (also known as Gedzennar of Yartar; LE hm Rog?/Asn?) - a mysterious spymaster and merchant, who joined as a temporary member of the Heroes during the war in Amn. Rezdal seems to be very unscrupulous and cruel while conducting business (slave trade and exotic poisons, for example), but Lord Barun recognises his worth for the company - namely, Rezdal belongs to most of the evil organizations in the Realms! (Shadow thieves, Knights of the Shield, Fire Knives, Night Masks, etc. ;) Thus his value as an informant and a "propaganda minister" (spreading wildly exaggerated tales and misinformation about the Heroes) is priceless. Rezdal was recently ennobled in Cormyr, for his faithful services to King Azoun (Actually, as part of a group reward for the Heroes) - a fact that he is glad about, since Lord Barun had become increasingly tired of his lack of proper etiquette (especially when addressing his nobleman adventuring companions ;)) Rezdal uses several aliases and disguises in his line of work. The most notable of these is the timid sage Gedzennar of Yartar, a member of the Order of Magists and Protectors. The Heroes have battled many powerful foes and faced a number of Realms-shaking Events during their adventuring career. They have slain many dragons (two of these Great Wyrms), vanquished an avatar of Iyachtu Xvim, gathered an army of crusaders known as The Fist and Fury (150 high-level followers of Helm, Tempus, Tymora and Lathander) and battled the Sythisillian Horde into retreat, returned the Wyrmskull Throne and some of its Scepters back to the clans of Shanatar, slain all members of the Unseen, penetrated the Imperial Mount in Shoonach (and fled Shoon VII ;)), Slain a notable number of the members of the Shadow Thieves and Knights of the Shield, freed the Knights of the Crescent Moon from their ages-old sleep... just to name a few such deeds. Now the campaign is running towards its end, with the emergence of the Time of the Beast (Age of Worms). In our campaign, a powerful Phaerimm deity was imprisoned under the pyramids of Ascore, and now that it has become free, the whole North is becoming a hunting-ground for the Phaerimm and their allies/servants. |
| Light_Colonel07-25-07, 03:26 PM | I am about to start DMing a Realms campaign. Stats have been rolled and classes and races picked more or less. We are going to start either this week or two weeks from now, depending on how long it takes us to finish the current campaign. So far the party consists of: Shield Dwarf Barbarian (Thunder Twin) Shield Dwarf Cleric (Thunder Twin) Elf Wizard Human Factotum Human Sorcerer Half-Orc Fighter Minor backstory so far, basically the characters were hired as caravan guards leading them to Waterdeep where Expedition to Undermountain plot hooks occur. They are working on full backstories though, so I will update this after I know more info. |

| Bonzai08-11-07, 03:55 PM | Here is the current group I am DM'ing for; The Fancy Lads Mortimer the mortician-Human Cleric of Kelemvor 3- DECEASED. He was a traveling cleric, who was traveling on the trade road to Damarra, when he stopped for the night at the town of Desmond's Dale in Northern Impiltur. There he learned of problems in the area, and that temples of Kelemvor had been desecrated, and priests slain. That night, the town and it's temple were attacked by strange men and undead. Banding together with a pair of other adventurers, he helped drive them off. Together they set off to find the source of these attacks, and discovered that a group of Cryacists called the Ebon Dawn were behind the attacks. Mortimer met his end on a mission to gather information on the Ebon Dawn. In a high mountain pass, in the Gianspire mountains, the party encountered a troll, and mortimer was slain. In life he had a sardonic sense of humor, and had the habit of wanting to have a funeral for everything that died around him. Archibald- Sharrikeam Duskblade 3 -Deceased. Archie was very self conscious of his resemblance to an Orc, so he did his best to keep up his appearance, and manners. He was very friendly, and had a great fondness for chess. He traveled trying to find acceptance, but at best was viewed as a curiosity. Then he met Bodwin in Desmonds Dale, and the two became fast friends. When the town was attacked, he, Bodwin, and Mortimer drove the attackers back. He accompanied his new friends on their mission to find the source of these attacks. He met his end, defending his friends from a troll in the giantspire mts. Bodwin- Human Factotum 6 Bodwin was the 3rd born son of a wealthy Sembian merchant family. With no real hope of inheriting, he was primarily left to his own devices. He studied the various aspects of the family business, trying to be helpful. He drifted from one pursuit to another, learning all sorts of skills, but mastering none. He was sent on an expedition to Impiltur to look for trading opportunities. While on the Northern Trade road, he stopped over in Desmonds Dale for the night. There he met Archibald, and the two became fast friends over a few drinks and a game of chess. The town was attacked, and together with his new friend and a cleric of Kelemvor they defeated the invaders. Agreeing to help the town, they set off in search of the source of the attack. They did find the culprits, a group of Cyracists called the Ebon Dawn. In an effort to discover more information they set out in search of a seer that lived in the giantspire mts. Along the way the party learned more about the Ebon Dawn, and fought several battles. In the mountains, they encountered a troll. Mortimer and Archibald both fell to the troll before it was subdued. The surviving members finished the perilous journey across the mountains, and reached the Seer. There they learned more about their enemy, and were introduced to two new travelling companions. The new party returned to Desmonds Dale, not a moment too soon, and were ambushed by Ebon Dawn agents. Shortly there after, the town was attacked in earnest, but the party and the local militia was able to defeat the attackers. They then set out, and came to the aid of a local garrison that was also under siege. Together with the garrison, they set out to strike out directly at the ebon dawn, and put an end to the threat once and for all. Bodwin has matured a lot over the course of his adventures. He has grown from a spoiled and prissy young man to the leader of the group. His wide range of skills and abilities has allowed him to chip in whenever needed, and his combat skills has given him a great boost in confidence. Percy- Human Cleric of Sharress 2 Percy is a cleric of Sharress, and the very definition of a headonist. Heavy set, food stains on his clothes, and cheeks that show a life time of heavey drinking. He has periodicly journeyed with the group. Usually when he was very drunk and in a spirited mood. Then he would sober up, take what coin he had earned, and lose himself in drink and women until the coin ran out again. (O.C. the player has a habit of not showing up, so we park him in the inn when it happens). Bellarojo- Elan Psion 6 (O.C. this was Mortimers replacement) Bell was a young adventurer, a tad on the idealistic side. She at some point had a torrid love afair with a Dwarf, wether that is still on going or not I am not sure. Evidently she likes short dark and shaggy men. Anyways... she was approached by the seer to help Bodwin on his mission, and she agreed. Not much else has been revealed about her character yet, but I am sure that is going to change. Quincey- Human monk 6. (O.C. This was Archies replacement). Quincey is secretly a Zhent, and a devout follower of bane. He learned on his own about the Ebon Dawn, and quickly determined that their goal was conquest. He set out to learn more about them, and find a way to destroy them. He believes that the Ebon Dawn are a serious threat to Zhent supremacy in the area, and seeks to destroy them before they grow more powerful. He hope that by taking down these Cyracists, his reputation in the Black network will grow. To the rest of the party, he is simply a Narfellian hermit, out to stop the people who burned down his home. |
| Abyssal_Eye08-12-07, 09:50 AM | Let's see... currently I'm a player so I don't have all the info on our group, but I'll try... (We're Germans so our PC-Names just might sound a bit strange ;) ) PCs: 'Shade' Sturmfeld - CN Drow with reduced racial traits so that there is no LA - Rogue2/Ranger7/unknown PrC1 - Raised in a human village by a previous PC he isn't particularly vulnerable to light and doesn't even know a word of undercommon. He fights with two weapons but acts borderline CE so he's definitely not a Drizzt clone. Adventures mainly for treasure and experience and may have ulterior motives, but these are not known to the party. He is the only partymember who is able to disable traps, but sadly he is not very proficient, which has in turn led to many close calls. One of the three starting characters remaining. Rurik Torunn - LN Shield Dwarf - Fighter 7/ Dwarven Defender 2 - The Party met him on another plane where he was banished to by a mage he angered, not particularly unusal considering his habit of speaking before thinking. He is adventuring for Gold and Fame and quite greedy most of the time but just can't say no when it comes to contests or bets. Belrian Kadar - Human CG Cleric of Tymora 9 - Originally the healer in small village he somehow got roped into adventuring by the party. He is mostly a calm and laid back fellow but has a vicious streak that shows every once in a while. Usually he is the one to patch the party up after another failed batte plan but goes melee every once in while, too. He recently experienced some visions related to his deity but is not sure about their meaning. One of the three starting characters remaining Heronimo - CN Half-Elf Duskblade 9 - A treasure hunter and explorer he stumbled upon the party as we once more escaped through a portal. He has been with the party since then and is quite content doing his job when the pay is right. One on one he is the most deadly fighter of the group but he sometimes has problems with the more unusual combat situations. Aidan Faeralis - CG Wood Elf Fighter6/Sorcerer1/Arcane Archer 3 - My own Character - A while ago the elven community in the high woods he grew up in was ravaged by demons, most likely from hellgate keep. He was hellbent on vengeance first but has cooled off a lot since then. Now he is mostly content to hunt for better equipment and further his skills so that he will be able to take vengeance when the time comes. First met the group trying to reach Suzail after his previous adventuring group was just about annihilated by a basilisk and was drawn into the usual madness accompanying them pretty quick. Somewhat famous for his lucky shots he is pretty much screwed when it comes to melee and often teams up with Rurik to avoid just that. Sometimes the group tactician but has the tendency to overlook one basic detail that proceeds to ruin everything. Alvias - CN Human Cleric of Tempus 9 - Adventuring to do battle and achieve glory he is quite good at doing just that. He is quite brash and more of a frontline fighter than a supporter or healer. A little bit bull-headed and relatively easy to anger he is not the best person for diplomatic tasks and the like, but then again every quest of our adventuring party ended in often excessive violence and quite a bit of trouble. Currently he is the one leading the party on a quest to regain an old artifact of Tempus (Unfortunately he has a rather bad sense of direction). One of the three starting characters remaining. He-whose-name-I-just-cannot-remember - CG Human Warlock8/Enlightened Spirit1 - Joined the party a while ago after he got involved in a battle with a possessed paladin that ended up looking like murder. He pretty much got chased out of town and teamed up with us. A pretty silent and menacing character he is hunting a pretty strong demon that put a curse on his whole bloodline centuries ago. Recently became an Enlightened Spirit due to acing a test or something set by Mystra(at least that is what we think, pretty confusing affair) and is still dealing with the emotional turmoil this caused. NPCs Kinst - Dwarven Monk5/Drunken Master 1 (I think) - A pretty rough and easily angered fellow who regularly empties the alcohol reserves of the party together with Rurik. He is thickheaded and not too bright but reliable nonetheless. Jong - Gnome Bard 6 - Hasn't shown a use in battle as of yet and drives everyone to madness constantly tuning his lute. Nobody quite knows why he's sticking around but we suspect it is because of the constant supply of funny and absurd stories. Ruhjane - Female Human Wizard 6 - Rather quiet and meek she accompanies the party as a return service because they gave her access to some spellbooks they acquired along the way, also she still hasn't finished deciphering all of them as of yet and spends every free minute she has studying. PCs currently otherwise occupied : Hellister Midgard - CN Human Warmage 7/Red Dragon Disciple 2 - Currently chasing another artifact together with his wife, he is the main cause for the many destroyed ins and taverns along the party's path. He is quite a pyromaniac, a little crazy and likes to sleep on his gold, also he insists he is a half-dragon. Since he married he is quite well off, so his greedy dragon side has receeded a little bit. Leafar CN Half-Elf Fighter 4 - Opened up a tavern after cashing in a rather big monetary reward. A sarcastic guy that reminded many OOC of Al Bundy. His diehard attitude and often rude comments are sorely missed. Teros Fatero Barreris CG Human Rogue 6 - A charming and smooth rogue from Sembia he vanished in Suzail because of some Silver Raven affair he was seemingly involved in. The party went to investigate but had to deal with another source of trouble first. By then the trail had gone cold. PCs who died or went bad-guy Vandren - CG Elven Necromancer 3 - A rough shell, soft interior spellcaster that was whisked away by some sort of dimensional device pretty early. Later crossed the parties path accompanying a group of Cyric worshippers and seemingly changed by 180° for reasons as of yet unknown. Naxas - N Fire Genasi Wizard 3 - A test subject for some sort of experiments he was freed by the party and was still trying to regain his memories when he perished due to an avalanche. Deberian - CN halfling Rogue 5 - Always high spirited and up to some mischief he died while retreating from some soldiers from Luskan, the party was too banged up to get his body back. Rexxar - CN Orc Barbarian 5 - Owed a life debt to Teros and therefore travelled with the party a long time. He was pretty stupid and it really showed when he tried to fight an octopus in the water instead of staying on the ship. Needless to say he was in no condition to be resurrected by the time the octopus was chased off. Maybe a bit much, but once I started writing I just couldn't stop! ^^ |

Danathor Re'daniion: NG Male Wood Elf Druid 10 A dour Wood Elf, except when drink is available, he usually supports Alediran's decision. Elarinston: CG Male Avariel Cleric 10 An acid-mouthed Cleric of the Winged Lady, he usually irks Kaede or Lorelai when they do things he doesn't approves, he gets somewhat better with Alediran, Ivelios and Danathor. |

| 1 ton ghost08-19-07, 03:51 AM | in a nutshell: current campaign; late Uktar, Silver Marches, Rauvin Vale 1374 -my friend's PC, "Merrick" (male 1/2 vampire/Illuskan human) Ftr 5 (LA), Dungeoncrasher from Dungeonscape, Charm Person/will, DR, etc. typical melee anti-hero. expatriate from Northern Moonshaes. his reasoning for adventure in the North were fleeing persecution; vampire father sought to bring him into the "fold" so to speak, wouldn't fully sucumb (CN align), etc. so his father (the vamp) stages many fiendish ploys to incite peasantry against him; provoke a response in him; further his damnation to CE and ultimately embrace full vampirism. bla bla bla, little hammy, i know. -my g/f's PC, "Helene Blacknail" (female 1/2Bedine/Chondathan Human) Clr 7, patron deity Jergal, Death/Respose and Fate domains, spont. curatives, LN, fairly dispassionate and serious. she's a 1/2 bedine from anaroch, father was a missionary from Cormyr in the Sword. bedine mother births her, latent talent/supernatural potential for divine/whatever., father takes her to Suzail, classically educated in priesthood; she's a scrivener (ranks in Prof. Scribe...had to give her props for that) basically, she's a minister of death and a huge penchant for jergal's documention aspect. like Read or Die. she took Spirit Sense so now she can see dead spirits, etc. pseudo-gothic tomb raider/da vinci code. my bro's PC, "Rivers Cumo" (he names all his PCs after entertainment figures ie)"Glenn Danzig" Clr of Bane, "Gwen Stafani" 1/2 elf sorceress, "MC Hammer" Dwarf Frt w/ maul) he's a sun elf wiz 7 now. familiar rat aka "ratso" (how novel, yes?). he's basically a bi-product of silverymoon's extensive scholastic and arcane wealth/universities/spell guard. NG align, trying to be exalted (his grimoire employs alot of BoED), angers Kiri and Helena frequently w/ his morality and unilateral decisions. token NPC, "Kiri Gamont" aka "Pocket Fox" (female chondathan human) Rog 5/Assassin 2. kiri grew up an orphan in Everlund and later Silverymoon. she was born a bastard in a burlesque which ultimatley became her "front" as she grew up fleecing johns and financing her underworld career. focus on sleight of hand (hence name), feints, sneak attacks and disguise (the burlesque facilitated facade of legitimacy). she's now an independent contract killer free from the local thieves guilds' overtures/attacks to conscript her/maker her fall in line. basically, the PCs bailed her out and she feel a debt of honor and fills the scoundrel/troubleshooter spot. |
| Narsil08-19-07, 02:34 PM | PCs: Taurrandir Lyvanavel CG Wood Elf Ranger 11 of Mielikki/Psychic Warrior 5 Best described as the most drunken ranger in the world, Taurrandir is quite paradoxically a brilliant archer and bare-faced drunk in the same breath. He drinks due to his deafening levels of telepathy*, wishing to drown it out with ale; this does make him prone to making mistakes in combat, but he seeks to fix this by most accounts. *His telepathy is represented by having a permanent 'detect thoughts' in a 120 ft radius while sober, but every five people gives a -1 to almost all rolls he makes. People with an intelligence higher than 26 don't cause stunning but instead count as being silent. Morfindel CG Moon Elf Rogue 8/Ranger 8 of Eilistraee A moon elf with a long and complex backstory, to the point where he no longer uses his true name in conversation and merely goes by the Seldruin/Sindarin term for 'dark-haired'. He seems to reject most of the more racist elven teachings and worships Eilistraee while pushing towards the goal of ending Lolth's rule over drow and also the goal of unification between drow and elven civilisations. Wields a crossbow in combat with decent proficiency. Lady Dynamene Ajara Kansal-Gajaren II NG Half-Moon Elf Wizard 15/Archmage 1 Born to a human adventuring wizard from Halruaa, she was raised as human as she could have possibly been. Though somewhat open-minded, people in the local society tended to frown upon hybrids due to the overbearing human majority present in Halruaa. She never knew her father, and now seeks to travel up and down the Sword Coast to discover a bit more about her elven background. Aerithron Lyvanavel NG Wood Elf Druid 16 A woodsman in most senses, he doesn't share his younger brother's psychic tendencies but he happens to be a fairly decent healer and possesses a wry wit and sense of humour. He frowns on his brother's excessive consumption of alcohol but lets it be until he can discover a way to allow Taurrandir to gain control over his powers. NPCs: Tahlreth Lyvanavel CG Drow Wizard 10/Olin Gisir 10/Archmage5 Cousin of Taurrandir and Aerithron, raised by his moon elf mother and trained intensively in the arts of magic. He spends most of his time hoarding secrets and giving clues here and there to aid the party. He is, however, usually too busy to interact directly as a party member due to some secret services for the local Temple of Mystra. |

| Skeptical Clown05-07-08, 12:09 PM | The last campaign I ended a few months ago consisted of: Marek: A human druid (Druid 16) who favored being a dire lion most of the time, making it occasionally difficult for the rest of the group to tell him from his animal companion, and leaving him the butt of some unfortunate jokes. Luarae: A drow (fighter1 /cleric 7/sword dancer 8), who was somewhat disarmingly cheerful and more good-natured than most of the rest of the group. Levi: An older human elementalist (Wizard/Storm Mage), who found a certain liberation in transforming her aged body into elemental forms. Endora: A human warlock (Warlock 16) who was mostly interested in blasting things. Nemus: A gnome knight (Fighter/Paladin) who rode on the back of Cuper, a baby copper dragon. He eventually left the group to help defend a svirfneblin community, being replaced by... Shimmer: A githzerai monk (Actually Monk/Psychic Warrior/Fist of Zuoken) who was bothered by all the Underdark warfare going on, as it interrupted his meditations. I started running Exalted once the FR game ended a few months back. |
| dav05-07-08, 01:30 PM | I had the pleasure of playing as Eshrin L'Vat in a 6 year long game game. He was mostly a fighter but swapped in some swashbuckler levels (with the DMs ok) when Complete Warrior came out. He was the younger son of a Dalelands merchant house. His whole family had been murdered by Zhents while he was on a buisness trip for the family. When he got back he discovered his sister may still be alive and set out to find her. There was a lot of intrigue and we had a just wonderful group. The other party members were a sun elf wizard named Tralin, an aasimar bard named Maeve Brightspire, a human cleric named Nolan Tor, a teifling rogue/fighter named Whren Kehrsyn, a half elf ranger named Rhia Claseter, and a human paladin named Galen. If you want to read more about them, the woman who played Whren was having her characters journal posted on Candlekeep. Look for the Journals of Whren Kehrsyn on the Campaign Journals section. It was from her characters perspective though so when she was off doing stuff without the rest of us you dont get what were doing. She didnt finish the tale though due to some nastiness with WotC. If you want to know how it all ended just PM me. I cant do it with the kind of prose she does though and I AM working off more than 2 year old memories now (I didnt keep a journal of it like she did). |
| RhenSilverwing05-07-08, 04:01 PM | @ Crust and Dragonheart; Nice campaigns My Campaign Set in Cormyr, it's a mainly undead-focused campaign. To begin with, the original group (the first 3 of the PCs below) met in the Wayward Inn of Garalenne, and united with an elven bard to discover a mystery surrounding the Sewers of the town. A worker vanished after a group of men had to go down to the sewers on maintenance, and the others were frightened out by growls and frantic snarls nearby. The PCs investigated the area, and found the body of the man. the area had recently become infested with ghouls, due to a wall collapsing that separated a tomb and one of the sewer tunnels. The PCs also found an strange drow woman, possibly a Necromancer, who they tried to subdue, but eventually killed. The PCs went separate ways to the female elven bard, and took on a quest to journey to a nearby forgotten monastery, being hired by a man desiring a golden chalice said to lie within. They found the place full of undead; raiments, skeletons, tomb motes; and eventually came across another strange man, whom they managed to defeat in battle - it was evident that this man was something more than a simple necromancer. It was an interesting experience for Roland, as it seemed to be a worship place of Heironeous. The PCs also met with Eldwin and Eberk, who had been hired previously, and joined forces. On the way out of the monastery the group were attacked by two more mysterious men, who fought to the death in hopes of avenging their 'brother'. The PCs found evidence that the men were part of some elusive organisation, but little more. Now, they are currently exploring a forgotten cave *Soon to be updated* Characters Roland - LG Male Human [Pal 4] Paladin of Heironeous (still not converted to a Faerunian Deity haha) Roland (Yes, taken from Dark Tower) is the spiritual leader of the group, though he is not officially recognised as so, and holds them together. He is extraodinarily strong (Str 18) and enjoys being at the front of every fray. He also does much of the talking for the party. However, he is equally mysterious - Roland has not revealed his past to me or the party, but I'm sure he has something in mind due to his knowlegde of Faerun. Roland has been titled the 'Ghoulhunter' in the town of Garalenne after taking a slain Ghoul's head into The Wayward Inn and displaying it to all present Soveliss Siannodel - CG Male Half-Moon Elf [Cle 3] Cleric of Corellon Larethian Soveliss is probably the most adamantly moral character of the group and loves to get involved in diplomacy; and helping people. He has less conviction than Roland and often encourages the group to think more about a situation before making a decision. Strangely, his luck sways from one extreme to the next, seeing him pull off heroic critical hits and then missing constantly afterwards. He's also very stingy about healing the other PCs xD. Soveliss hails from the forest of Cormanthor, and has an acute hatred of Orcs and Half-Orcs after his father was slain by an Orc Chieftainwhen he was young. He also hates drow. Dannos - N male Human [Sor 3] Sorcerer Dannos stays at the back in all aspects of the party - he says very little - yet extraordinarily shows a great deal of personality in his outward appearance - he wears Noble Robes... and a Spiked Gauntlet (he is beginning to be known in Garalenne as The Arcane Fist). Dannos first wanted a Scythe, then a Bastard Sword, then a Halberd, and now wants an oversized Greatsword. But until the glorious days of Level 6, when he can obtain the feat for such, he remains with his halberd. Dannos also draws the maps for the party. He is also obssessed with the spell, Scorching Ray (which he will master very, very soon), and enjoys throwing (he has maybe 30 phials) Alchemist's Fire in battle, even if it does mean 'occasionally' burning Soveliss. Dannos also has a toad for a familiar Eberk Strakeln - NG Male Dwarven Ranger [Ran 3] Eberk has taken the path of the bow in his ranger training and enjoys supporting the other PCs from a distance. He also often secures and explores nearby areas during battles to strengthen the safety of the rest of the party. Eberk has not revealed his past, but we know he has travelled far with his companion, Eldwin (see below) and hopefully will enlighten us in the near future. Eberk and Eldwin joined with the rest of the group after meeting on the same quest. Eberk is seriously lacking in wealth compared to the other PCs, because he likes to share it so much. Eldwin Galannodel - NG Male Half-Elf Druid [Drd 3] Eldwin loves telling jokes to the rest of the group, but can be serious when he wants to. He has a wolf for an animal companion. Eldwin is also obssessed with searching and finding everything, and likes to find al the treasure. Eldwin has not told us of his past, but he has travelled far with his companion, Eberk (see above), and trusts him well. Finally, Eldwin is also a very capable cook. |
| Lord Karsus05-07-08, 06:10 PM | Ah yes, I remember Honeywell.:) -If ever given the opportunity, I'd love to play him again. I think you'd like him. |
| Ianten_Silverblade05-08-08, 12:03 AM | Ianten Silverblade: Male Aasimar Knight 9/Paladin 7/Triadic Knight 3 of Ilmater Vailant, strong, chivalrous, kind, gentle, and meaning well, all of these describe Ianten. Born an aasimar with almond gold skin and brilliant topaz eyes, he is not only merely a Knight in service to the crown of Damara but is also a paladin dedicated to the teachings of Ilmater. Ianten may in fact be the first aasimar born in Faerun to have a ancestry traceable back to a Solar who served Ilmater. He is married to Saria and commands the Band of Silver. He is the son of the pirate lord Samagaer Silverblade but he does not know that this makes him a member of the Selkirk Sembian household. Saria Greenfeather: Female Half-Nymph/Half-Moon Elf Nature Bard (UA) 7/Wizard (Enchanter) 5/Ultimate Magus 5 of Titania Her short green locks of hair, sparkling green emerald eyes, voluptuously beauty body, and voice of crystal clear clarity make her a desirable mate for many men in Damara's capital city but Saria is firmly and staunchly married (and in love) with Ianten (whom she often refers to as her "noble knight in shinning armor"). She is unique for a druid as she knows much about the forested wilderness and has an powerful dire wolf named Seraph as an animal companion. Thorik Forgeheart: Male Deep Dwarf Fighter 1/Barbarian 11/Cleric 3/Battlerager 3/Hammer of Moradin 3 of Moradin A semi-retired deep dwarven adventurer and current husband of Belkara as well as adopted father of Ianten and Saria. He may grumble, complain, whine, and give his wife sass as much as he drinks and sings (both loudly and badly) while or while not working his blacksmith's shop but deep down he truly cares about both Belkara and his two adopted children. Thorik is unique as he is not a native resident of Faerun and is in fact a planes walker (along with Belkara) and is a fierce foe (as a certain Ultroloth found out). Gisela Goldenleaf: Female Half-Sun Elf Sorcerer 6/Fighter 4/Blade Dancer 6/Arcane Devotee 2/Eldritch Knight 2 of Hanali Celanil An outcast half-sun elf from Evermeet. She was bitter at first upon her exile and to prove it she stole a valuable artifact, the Sunfire Sword from the treasure vaults of Evermeet's royal palace. Evading her pursuers (when they finally discovered Gisela's act [not an easy task]) she gained quite a reputation amongst the elves of Faerun and eventually made her way to the frozen north of Damara. She is now a member of the Band of Silver and in love with Gerrad. Shadow: ???? ????? (??????????) Ranger ?/Rogue ?/Fighter ?/Avenger ?? of ??? An enigmatic mystery, this masked man is garbed in black and his face is covered in rolls of black velvet. He bears a good sized black hat that is in truth a minor artifact which prevents divination magic being used upon his person. His bears a similar twin scimitar fighting style to Drizzt Do'Urden and also wields a heavy crossbow capable of causing terrible bleeding wounds. For now he serves Ianten in the Band of Silver, having made a promise never to betray Ianten or the Band of Silver. Belkara Forgeheart: Female Shield Dwarf Fighter 1/Healer 7/Cleric 7/Paladin 5 (Berronar Valkyrie substitution 2) of Berronar Truesilver A powerful divine servant of the dwarven goddess Berronar Truesilver and a former planes walker alongside Thorik and two other companions. While investigating an abandoned Yugoloth fortress in the Gray Wastes she and her friends accidentally went into a one way portal which led an abandoned (due to an vile Ultroloth's presence) dwarven mine recently uncovered by the Great Glacier. She lost her two friends escaping from the mine and is now married to Thorik and adopted mother to Ianten and Saria. Gerrad Seaoak: Male Half-Aquatic Elf Ranger 3/Rogue 3/Fighter 3/Dragonslayer 5/Dragonstalker 5 of Deep Sashelas A male half-aquatic elf and famous dragon hunter who prowls the north looking for chromatic dragons to slay, Gerrad's human family was all but wiped out due to the ravages of a unique evil dragon (a Tartarian dragon) named Foulkeeper. The dragon attempted to make Gerrad's village into an unbearable prison but it was eventually slain by Gerrad's mentor, a fellow half-aquatic elf dragon slayer from the Dragon Coast. Gerrad is a flighty yet valued member of the Band of Silver. Sana: Female Human (Damaran) Barbarian 3/Ranger 3/Druid 3/Berserker 7/Wolflord 3 of Mielikki Orphaned in Rasheman when her Damaran parents were slain by Rashemi berserker's, she grew up in the woods of the nation of Rasheman and became known as the Wolf Princess as she led the wolves of the forests against the berserker's of the lodges of Rasheman. In truth Sana's life was all arranged by a shrieking hag and if not for Ianten's Band of Silver, Sana may have well be sacrificed to a giant gorilla (a behemoth) by an evil Durthan named Eboshi. She is now a member of the Band of Silver. |

| RhenSilverwing05-30-08, 06:22 PM | I gotta give the gal some credit for hangin' around a gaming table all night. Though I guess that makes her a bit of a Yoko Ono Haha well the funny thing is he turned her Lesbian:) He doesn't like to talk about it much - they usually last a couple of weeks then he moves on to the next. Well no we didn't give her a chance to play - having spectators is the worst most disruptive thing ever at DnD - Suspension of disbelief just flies out of the window. The party was also in the middle of some undisturbed catacombs so that would have been tough to introduce somebody. And it was only a three hour session, an hour of which would have been wasted telling her exactly what she could and couldn't do in w/e her role was anyway (I'm not saying that because she's a girl btw, I would say that for anyone; I'm all for girls playing DnD) Anyway, Eldwin has left and we have a new PC to come at the start of the next adventure. he's going to be a Drow Rogue - something the whole team is very pleased about. And he may well call himself Pirate Ryan, as he is known to all who meet him. Don't ask :) |
| MerrikCale06-04-08, 10:23 PM | any other parties out there? |
| MerrikCale08-10-08, 07:00 PM | Should this be moved to Running the Realms? |
| Belorin08-11-08, 02:12 AM | Below are the starting stories for the group that started in the Realms with me, along with their latest levels. We are the Wereriders Belorin Aldus (NG) h m Ftr4/Wiz9/ElK5 Belorin started out as Orin a fighter, son of Capt. Dorn Aldus and his wife the wizard Tianna, Orin was nine when she was killed by shadowy beings looking for magic Dorn had inadvertently been giving as a reward for a successful campaign against the Necromancer. Orin was a skilled swordsman and refused to have anything to do with magic till fourth level when he was told he had magical ability by the mysterious mage known only as the Grey Traveler. Baran Rauthan (CG) h m Rgr17 Baran was raised in a trapper village in the Neverwinter Woods; late one evening while he was out checking traps, his village was attacked by werewolves, he was twelve years old. The majority of the villagers were killed, but several, including his mother and younger brother were missing. With the help of an old hermit ranger he tracked the pack and ended up killing his own mother who had been bitten. He was bitten years later by his brother, whom he killed. He underwent a year long quest for Selune to be cured of his lycanthropy. Odhran Killian (NG) 1/2e m Bard16 Born and raised In Loudwater, Odhran grew up listening to the tales spun by adventurers and Bards in the tavern his aunt owned and ran. He was filled with wanderlust and often pestered the patrons for more stories and as he grew older for lessons in whatever they were willing to teach him. He became adapt at swordplay, archery and the lute. His aunt, when she learned of his extracurricular activities taught him what little she knew of magic. Soon after, news of trouble in Daggerford came up the River Shining and Odhran was eager to answer the call. Lysande Hallack (NG) h f Clr9/MoL7/Hei1 Lysande loved the sun; she reveled in the feel of it on her face and skin as well as on the crops she tended on her father’s farm. Those crops under her care always grew greener and bigger than any of her sisters and brothers, brought more from the marketplace too. As she was soon approaching puberty, her father was reticent to search for a husband for her due to her success with the crops, but fate intervened. Priests from the temple of Lathander in Daggerford, having seen the fruits of her labors called on her parents one day and she became one of their ranks. Rhiana Moonshadow (CN) e f Rog10/Shd6 Rhiana was a curse on her family, where ever she went, disaster struck. Things went missing and turned up in the most unlikely places, usually where somebody who had wronged her would get the blame. Valuables would just disappear and Rhiana would have a new dress, shoes or other things. However, sooner or later someone would figure it out and off she went to another relative. One uncle in Secomber, a retired rogue took her under his tutelage and when she was ready gave her a letter of introduction to a Thieves Guild in Neverwinter. Unfortunately, she never got any closer that Daggerford. Kelson Jax (NG) h m Ftr16 Kelson’s family was miners, handed down from father to son as far back as they could remember they had been miners. They had worked the mines of Llorkh in the days of prosperity and work it still in its decline. Masters of the hammer and pick, they worked like dwarves. Kelson had just left the mine for more lantern oil when a rumble shook the area, a roar from the mine shaft and a blast of rock dust signaled a collapse. Kelson lost his father, uncles and a brother in the collapse and not long after his mother died from grief. Unable to stay in the town where such tragedy had befell him, he took up his father’s maul and tool and set out for Daggerford where he had heard of an ancient mine being discovered. Bel |
| Lord Karsus08-12-08, 12:04 AM | -Yeah, I'll have this moved over. |
| sillaric_culdanin08-12-08, 01:13 AM | We're three sessions into running Keep on the Shadowfell with the Realms conversion. We currently have six players: Navarre, Dragonborn Swordmage Balian, Human Warlord Kiara, Eladrin Fey-pact Warlock Niamh, Shape-shifting quasi-human Ranger Thorin, Dwarf Fighter Shava, Elf Rogue The 4E rules have been a blast for running this group (which includes only two people that have ever played an RPG before). They are exceptionally easy to teach and everyone has had a blast. |
| Mackay8808-12-08, 02:22 AM | The Iron Moon, from a long running campaign. It began in Amn and has gradually worked it's way eastwards, to the Chessenta and the Old Empires. Essentially, this is a game about power, greed, and high politics. Currently, the group is in control of a small city in Chessenta, a vassal of Soorenar. They managed to work their way into the favour of two of the three ruling families of Soorenar and gained the governorship of the vassal-city. Cael Athlas - LE male Moon Elf Cleric of Gargauth 15/Divine Disciple 2 Exiled from Evereska on charges of murder and conspiracy, this scion of an old family found solace in the church of the Tenth Lord of the Nine while living in Amn. Cael is proud, haughty, and cold, and is the unofficial leader of the Iron Moon - and, by extension, the head of the governing council of Culiar. Currently, he's in the process of building the first public temple of Gargauth in Faerun and hopes to make the city the seat of the faith. Cael wields throwing daggers in combat - drawn from a magically replenishing sheath - and his closest ally is Turgis. Turgis Gruman - NE male Human Fighter 17 An Amian mercenary, Turgis is the brute strength of the Fist. He keeps his past deliberately vague, although in the past he has hinted at having served in Maztica. Brutal, grim, and silent, Turgis is involved in re-organising Cuilar's Guard and is the least active in Council politics. When he does vote, it's almost always with Cael. The two have been together the longest of any of the party members and are very close. Jorah Tul CE male Half-Elf Wizard 14/Demonologist 3 Driven mad by prolonged contact with the Abyss, Jorah still manages to be a potent wizard. He's originally from Waterdeep, but, like Cael, he seems to have left his home city in a hurry/one step ahead of the law. Currently, he makes the ruined Temple of Tyr in Cuilar his home, using the desecrated altar as a focus point for his...activities. Rees Ansar NE Human Rogue 13/Assassin 4 Rees is the only native of Chessenta (from Cimbar), and never thought that he'd return to the land of his birth after years of living in Amn. He's the most paranoid of the party (quite an accomplishment) and a heavy drinker. Currently, he's looking into Thayan infiltration of the city's underworld. |
| MerrikCale08-13-08, 10:05 PM | is cael your PC? |
