Alright, so I can go ahead and start putting the official touches on the Redeemers of Dawn (a very intriguing article that will be revealed on Candlekeep.com soon) , I'm in need of a Yugoloth baddie for them.

So post some suggestions to me, I've not got any Yugoloth (just the demon, devils for the most part) books, but will poke around if I find something of interest!

-Shemmy can probably handle this query the best. As for Yugoloths baddies. Well, how about the Yugoloth "Generals". I am sure they're mighty evil. One does not comand an army of Yugoloths and enjoy picking wildflowers on sunny spring days...

If you are sticking with Faerun specific yugoloth lore we know of several:

Kexxon is the leader of the yugoloths in the Blood Rift.
Inthracis and Bubonis are just below him.
You can read about Inthracis here: http://ww2.wizards.com/Books/Wizards/?doc=fr_resurrectioncp
And you can read the sample chapter of Resurrection that wizards has posted here: http://ww2.wizards.com/Books/Downloads/products_frnovel_177260000.zip
Which discusses the Blood Rift home of the yugoloths and touches on Kexxon and Bubonis briefly.

Over in the Barrens of Doom & Despair there is Malkizid.

And, although I think they might be dead, there were the Khovanilessa (Trio Nefarious), three nycaloths whose armies overwhelmed Myth Drannor and caused its fall.

Their names were Aulmpiter, Gaulguth, and Malimshaer. You can read about them here: http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/ex/20050202a&page=4

I don't know about Faerun specific, but, if they are involved in Toril/Faerun, it helps out a great deal.

I forgot about Inthracis in the Resurrection novel since it's been about a year and half now I suppose. I don't know if he would be fitting for my project, although he does enjoy playing with the dead and using them in his home...

Malkizid is to 'commonly used' for me to want to use him into the project and involve him into it.

But I'll await to see if Shemmy has a little something for me :D

-If I'm not mistaken, Malkizid is a fallen Solar, not a Yugoloth. And, I am not mistaken! But, he does command a large army of 'loths.

-Yep, they've seen better days...

Malkizid is definitely portrayed as a Yugoloth Lord, even though his racial origins were as a solar. After his fall, he spent some time in the Baatezu heirarchy but left them and now rules a faction of yugoloths.

Not sure if his "yugoloth lord" title marks him as racially a yugoloth or merely a lord of yugoloths. He is probably not a yugoloth per se. Not even clear if he is accepted into the yugoloth heirarchy. The fact that he realms in the Barrens and not on mount Calaas in the Blood Rift might be a good indicator that he is not accepted within that pecking order.

But he is not necessarily apart from the Kexxon and his ilk. Malkizid may serve as a viceroy or some such, overseeing their holdings on another plane. It is unclear whether Malkizid rules the yugoloth pits on behalf of the Blood Rift 'loths or in spite of them.

It had occured to me also that Malkizid might have undergone some sort of transformative ritual to become a yugoloth. He could possibly be an Altraloth if he forged a compact with a covey of nighthags. There are other rituals mentioned in Savage Species that he could have alternatively undertaken.

I haven't read the Last Mythal so there might be more info in there about his particulars.

Best to stay away from Last Mythall Rich.

Malkazid isn't a yugoloth. He might have managed to purchase the loyalty of a large number of them, but by definition, the 'loths don't recruit non-yugoloths into their ranks. Perhaps he's given nominal political authority by a group of ultroloths who for their own purposes allow him to feel like he has actual power (sort of like a yagnaloth's role in yugoloth society).

Mydianchlarus the Oinoloth - the ruler of Khin-Oin the Wasting Tower, nominal political ruler of yugoloths upon the Gray Waste

The General of Gehenna - the first yugoloth to attain Ultroloth status. The General exists as a favored child of the yugoloths creators, the Baernaloths, and while his authority is not absolute, his whims generally guide the overall course of the yugoloth race.

*[Kexxon is a sort of muddied conflation of The General and Mydianchalrus]

Anthraxus - the previous Oinoloth, he was deposed by mydianchlarus and currently wanders the lower planes. Last anyone knew, he was seeking to establish himself as a proxy for a neutral evil deity, but because of his nature (and his own personal power perhaps) they feared giving him access to that additional power, worrying that he might seek to take more in the future. Beyond that, his future plans are unknown, as is the reason why he stepped down [though I heavily speculate about his reasons in a story of mine]

The Baernaloths - the original souce of Neutral Evil in the multiverse, creators of the yugoloths, obyriths, and ancient baatorians. Most of them have long since vanished from the planes, but some of them linger behind, living in seclusion and seemingly having long since fallen into apathy, abandoning the multiverse and their own children to whatever fate may come. Some of them however, a group known collectively as The Demented, actively seek to manipulate the events of the lower planes, steering the multiverse towards more and more abstract evil. [I've written lots on these guys...]

Helekanalaith - the so-called Keeper of the Tower Arcane, Hele is the nominal ruler of the arcanaloth caste of yugoloths, and probably the most powerful person in Gehenna besides the General.

Larsdana Ap Neut - predecessor of Helekanalaith, designer of the Tower Arcane. Her fate is unknown [and again, I heavily speculate upon this in several stories of mine]

Bubonix - Lord of the Tower of Incarnate Pain, self-titled Overlord of Carceri. Of any yugoloth, he holds the most sway in Carceri, though he's largely restricted in influence to potions of the layer of Othrys due to the opposition of the Demodands/Gehreleths (and their creator/god, Apomps the Triple Aspected, himself an exiled Baernaloth).

Other unique yugoloths:
Cholerix - subordinate to Bubonix
Taba - perfect shapeshifter, known as 'the infiltrator of the lower planes'
Typhus - ruler of a mercenary army known as 'The infernal front'
Charon - lord of the marraenoloth caste of yugoloths
Xenghara - the angel of desolation, he takes the form of an ash gray solar who radiates an aura of despair. He currently is something of an outcast, wandering the lower planes and the outlands.

Ah, yes, something to pick and choose from. I much appreciate this Shemmie. It will allow me to pick and choose stuff now rather then being limited to just a few.

After all this of course, I'll need to decide on a couple of goodies, make up a couple of names and decide on locations, and be done with it.

But, first....decisions decisions decisions...

I'd suggest a lower powered Yugoloth for the Big Baddie.

A Yugoloth should be able to out plan and out maneuver any party of PC's (living forever gives you a bit of advantage in terms of experience) so what I would do is have a relatively low powered Yugoloth use minions, traps and tactics to whip on the PC's. Any Yugoloth Lord should paste PC's, I've never had any time for an adventure that claims an immortal lord should get beat by the PC's (unless it is the Lord's plan, ie. PCs "win the fight" and thus start to feel more pride in their abilities, perhaps the Lord even plants a few cursed items around in hopes that the PCs will claim them and start to turn towards evil, but IMO NO PCs should take out and defeat a Yugoloth, Baatezu or Tanar'ri Lord unless it's part of an epic {not specifically epic level, epic as in the iliad} quest where the Lord puppets the PCs around like crazy until they find a way to defeat him/her/it)

Phew, sorry to jump in like this, I just have a problem with immortal lords being stupid :)

It's different when said Order is also immortal like said Baddies.

But yes, your right. Yugo's and all the others are often portrayed as being stupid, but that is something I'm not going to do. And, I don't have any direct plans to make a direct encounter, though they've got very close with one person I have.

Yep, other immortals would be able to outwit Yugo's, they have the depth of perception to look centuries into the future and can plan accordingly. Sorry if I came of scathing towards you, that wasn't my intent. :)

I'm very happy to hear that you won't be running the "my players are going to kill the General of Gehenna" game :)

Anyhow, I don't really have any idea who these Redeemers of Dawn are so I can't say which Yugo would work best but I'd try and fit the flavor of the outfit and pick a Yugo that can't just whipe the floor with them ;)

I agree. I would tailor it to your group. And hey, there isn't many Yugoloths out there so creat one.

Naw, refuse to create one. Like I've statted, I really want everyone to feel that they are real in the Realms and don't think anything past it.
