Ok so I'm already an RPGA judge of 3.5.

Though because the recent activity drop of 3.5 games in my area, I haven't had too much of a chance to actually run a single game. (I've been RPGAJ now since sep. 07.)

I really would like to know what I can do NOW to help set myself up to become 4E certified, so I can run a game as soon as the FR setting book comes out.

I already assume that I'm gonna have to pull a massive crunch on the basic's of 4E before I can take the test to get my cert, but if theres anything I can do to prep myself, it would be a great help.

I want also know how to get certified (at least because I just want it to know but realistically because I am looking to become a RPGA GM).

With this I want to know how hard are these certification exams?
What do someone has to know to even think of getting certified?
How long are the certification exams? How many questions have them?

thanks

3.5 was 20 question open book exam on anything you could find in the SRD.

There were deffinantly some things that you needed to be VERY familiar with in order to pass with the 90% needed.

Like "Whats the cost of a +2 Heavy Fortification Plate of acid resistance?"

Or "If Tordek, a level 3 dwarf, attacks using power attack at +2 while charging, and has a +1 Great axe with weapon focus, what is his toatl attack bonus?"

There is definantly some really technical stuff, but alot of the questions are no brainers if you've played for a long time.

It appears that current Herald or higher level RPGA judges will not be required to pass any tests to retain their status into 4E.

I believe that you can still take the Herald-level test - if you log into the Members' Area you'll find a link to the Judges' Center and you can take the test now which would mean you don't have to wait for 4E - and the 4E test - to come out.

Note that the SRD is probably not sufficient - there are some questions which require the application of rules which are only in the core rulebooks not in the SRD.

QFT.

In fact, the SRD IS NOT sufficient. You *NEED* DMG3.5, MM3.5 and PHB3.5 to have rules which are considered core knowledge. It says so right on the links to the test.

"Points to RPGA Herald-Level GM page (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=rpga/gmprogram/herald)"

All the information you need to know about the Herald Level test and the link to the Judge Center (http://judge.wizards.com/) where the test is found.

Once you've logged into the Judge Center go to the exams page, click the create tab, choose RPGA Dungeons & Dragons, then choose the language(appears that its only available in english)

You should have the option to choose the Herald level exam, choose it, then choose finish and the exam is ready. Once you click the Take Exam button the timer begins to count down so don't click that till you are ready.

The exam is 20 questions, has a time limit of 2 hours and requires a score of 90% to pass.

Well since i'm already herald level, then i don't have to take a new test at all!

Very nice!

Now to start planning the demise of all my players... Mwahahahahaha!
[/evil rant]

And no, I passed my 3.5 test only using links to the SRD cause i took my test at work when i didn't have access to my books and got 95%.

The only real thing you'll have a problem with is XP/level, cause that chart isn't in the SRD.

Though just about everything else is.
