First of all - congratulations! It's great to see dedicated people volunteering to help make a great campaign.

This single hope (I won't go so far as call it a request), is that there will be better COMMUNICATION from the top down. I'd love to see quarterly or twice-yearly "state of the region" style updates from those in charge. What have we done? Where are we going? What's the anticipated schedule of released mods? How are relationships going with other regions? ETC.

I'll try my best to get the information out to my region, for sure. It depends on a lot of details we don't know yet to exactly how and when. However, stay tuned.

Thanks! I know that Claire and I are big advocates of communication. I think the basic structure for primary LFR communicators will be Chris Tulach, the Global Admins, and the regional POCs. Right now, Chris is the man, our supreme leader, our oracle! :-)

I wanted everyone in the Southeast Region to know that Mike Lee has been a coordinator and founder of a Nashville-based gaming group for some time, as well as active in Living Greyhawk. I have the utmost confidence in him - knowing him as someone with nearly unmatched passion for the game, DMing and worldcraft - that he'll do a magnificent job as POC.

I must say I am incredibly happy about the names that I know on the list, which makes me optimistic about the names I don't know. As near as I can tell, I think that Ian and Chris did a great job choosing administrators, and would like to wish all the new administrators good luck. I hope you find plenty of volunteers to make your work load easier.

I'm glad to be on board with LFR, and I am a pretty big believer in communication when it comes to group projects like this. I hope I can help in whatever way I can to make this the best Living campaign yet!

Thanks for the compliments people. I certainly will work hard to make this a fun campaign. Communication is definitely high on my list as most people know who visit these boards or send me E-mails.

I'll chime in here as well and hope that in the future I will be a good enough voice of (insert region name). I think in North Europe, including UK region, we have so many good people aboard that players should have nothing to worry about.

Well, I know Chris has done a pretty good job being part of the Ket Triad for LG. I'm sure he'll do a fantastic job with LFR.

By the way: Happy-belated-birthday buddy!

The Global Administrator Triad is awesome, and i know almost all the regional administrators except the ones of my region, Latin America so i feel a bit upset about it.

Good Luck to everyone.

Since I came on-board in the County of Urnst, we've published a yearly "Triad Accomplishments" that details what's been done this year, give a few hints of what's coming.
I also been running a Survey for the region for the last 2 year. The feedback we got was extremely useful to us. I have every intention to run one again this year.

I'd certainly like to see some more inter-region communication.

Case in point: The reason why the nations of the Knights of the Hart, among others, didn't like Perrenland is because it sat out of the Greyhawk Wars against Iuz.

It entered the war against Iuz in 594.

The Veluna site still lists Perrenland among Veluna's enemies in such a way as to imply that it is little better than the Empire of Iuz itself.

While I can accept that there may still be resentment about Perrenland being johnny-come-latelies to the war, one would presume that doing so would have caused some change in its image to those nations with which it is now allied...

Hmmm. I am curious how the events in Ekbir (where elves are now welcome) affects the other regions (Tusmit, etc).
I agree we need to communicate well between regions in LFR. There will be a few less regions than LG, and most of us have learned over the years, so I have good hopes.

It seems to me that Perrenland was despised in several year 7 Highfolk modules for their activities within the past year. So I'm not sure why you think Veluna is unjustified in its opinion.

I dunno. That actually seems reasonable that Perrenland is a problematic nation from the point of view of Veluna. You've got this country deciding to sit out a war against a terrible evil and then in the past 3 years, then they decide to do something about it?(probably with a giant helping of self-interest)

"Hi, I realize we left you all to rot about 15 years ago, because it really didn't affect us to be neutral, but now that we've got problems with Old Wicked, I hope you realize we're all on the same side..."

In the real world, that kind of thing creates decades, sometimes even centuries of mistrust. You expect it to go away in 3 years?

Some Perrenders would, of course, say that they sat out until the were ready to fight - the Auszug didn't exist during the Greyhawk Wars - and my impression is that the Perrenese mercenaries as a whole (there are always a few bad eggs) didn't hire themselves out to Bob but did work against him. I'd see the situation as similar to the US in the early parts of both world wars - officially neutral, but supporting the Allies in any way they could while maintaining that neutrality and not doing anything to prevent private citizens from volunteering to fight for the Allies, until something was done that meant they simply couldn't stay neutral any longer. (Admittedly, in WW2 I believe the US was planning to enter the war in 1943 anyway, but for all we know Karenin was planning to enter the war when he felt Perrenland was ready until Bob's family got their claws in him.)

It's also worth noting that the pact got the Voormann who signed it voted out at the first opportunity.

It seems to me that Perrenland was despised in several year 7 Highfolk modules for their activities within the past year. So I'm not sure why you think Veluna is unjustified in its opinion.

That may actually be a case in point on the topic of not only top-bottom communication, but side-side communication - I remember one of the Perrenland campaign staff complaining a year or so ago about one of the other Triads doing something out-of-character with Perrenland troops without consulting them. They were able to work out the resulting plot-hole and the impression I got was that whatever happened probably would have still happened had such consultation occurred, but it's an example of easily-avoided communication breakdown.

Still, while I'm a Ratik player now rather than a Perrenland one (so at least I don't need to deal with the reactions of NPCs from other border states while running Iuz metaregionals), there are still plenty of high-level Perrenland characters in my area and such NPCs (including the Knights of the Hart) do still show up occasionally in Cores. When that happens, I usually treat the Highfolk/Furyondy/whatever NPCs as behaving in a similar manner as some of the Allies might have towards the US - a bit of resentment at how long it took, but at least they're on board now. From what Sieylianna said, that might well have been incorrect - where an annual update of attitudes between regions (whether those attitudes are deserved or not) would help in judging how NPCs and PCs from different regions would react to one another.

Incidentally, where is the Highfolk site nowadays? All of my links come up with commercial pages...

While I don't know any of the names on the list, they have my full confidence for being excellent heads of a new game. I had very high hopes that a certain Hoffman (Chris Hoffman) would be one of them, but instead I got two others! Whereupon my own Hoffman had vouched for their effectiveness. Therefore, I welcome them into my accepted list of Hoffmans =) But alas, good job to all.

I do agree with the update idea. If we could get a LFR Quarterly from regional triad over progress on plot arcs and such- that would be huge. The list of updates might include: what happened on interactives the past 3 months, critical events summaries that can be shared, notable PC deeds that made it on critical events (so that we might have better IC action, for those of us who have nothing to do but look at said quarterlies (I'm a high school student, go figure.)

And, specifically, congrats Chris W. If I remember correctly, I tried to kill ya in an Iuz mod. But failed abyssmally.
