I can see with the Living Forgotten Realms structure of 12 regions that anyone can play, that 'regional specialist GM's' will develop. These are people in your area that will be so interested in a particular 'not their region's' background, modules, and plotline, that they will become the Specialist GM for that region's modules.

They may end up eating the modules, so they can be the first to run them in their areas. It's no big deal, as there will be 11 other regions worth of modules they can catch with their own characters, far more than the numbers we see today in LG. They will take the extra time to read their Specialty region's e-traffic, becoming a local expert on questions about their Specialty region. They may even develop a small chat group with the other Specialist GM's of their Specialty region.

In this way, they provide a better GM experience for their Specialties' modules, as they have immersed themselves in the backstory, and have more experience with the NPC's, organizations, and culture of their Specialty.

Welcome to a new way of thinking.

I was thinking about suggestiong something like this to our group. Having each member take a region and eat that regions mods to run them for the group.

It is a good idea. I was talking to one of my buddies who GMs a lot and we were discussing something similar and why we would or would not travel to conventions.Basically it came down to the more conventions you traveled to the less modules you or someone else had to eat.

Before LG, we traveled to conventions so we would not have to judge, and everyone would get to play. We almost never traveled more than 2 or 3 hours and we often did it for only a day instead of a weekend. After LG started we traveled for that reason but even more to get to play modules that were not offered in our region. Our traveling circle expanded to 8 or 9 hours drive or cheap flights and we stayed the entire weekend or longer.

So we are interested to see how it will evolve with the new structure of RPGA gaming. Will we go back going only to close cons or will it continue to spread out even further. The last possibility is there will be little reason to even go to any cons if we form a group of judges to eat each regions' modules.

Except we don't know exactly how running out of region modules is going to work. Let's hypothetically say that the RPGA wants to continue to support conventions, so only conventions can order out of region modules. To the best of my knowledge, that doesn't contradict anything which has been released.

I used to try to go to conventions so I could play and then run for the home group without having to eat anything. My con attendence has dropped off drastically, due to RL, fortunately my friends have been able to go and play some so it's their turn to play. I hope to continue to play at cons under LFR, even with the region swapping plan as they are too fun to not go to them.
