The last big teaser for LFR was this:
http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=rpga/news/20070905a
Post online on the 5th of September. Since then we've learned the names of who's been chosen to head this new campaign, and what else? Nothing!

We know the campaign doesn't "launch" until August, but at this writing there's only 7 months and maybe 2-3 weeks until GenCon Indy and the start of the Campaign. Not counting the 4E/LFR 'preview' at D&DX in just over a month.

"But," you say, "7 months is a long time."
Yes, yes it is. But it's been 4 1/2 months since we were last told anything solid about the campaign. When we started asking for tidbits and posters replied that there was almost a full year for them to fill us in and we shouldn't rush. Well, a full third of that year has vanished and we know exactly the same as we knew then.

If you like the system for Living Greyhawk, you’ll love what we have in store with Living Forgotten Realms: more play opportunities for the average gamer, fully supported online and offline play, and a greater shared-world experience than we’ve ever done before with a Living campaign. Living Forgotten Realms will be the first truly global Living campaign.

They must have had something planned for how the campaign was going to run, some blueprint already prepared. Unless this was this just meaningless hype.

Plus, it can easily take half a year to write a singe module for Living Greyhawk. Unless the authors have been provided with information we haven't and managed not to have it leaked out over a half-dozen websites.

Of course, there are other problems. The RPGA doesn't receive preview copies of books, so most members of LFR administration/circle (we don't even know what to call them yet) might have to wait until August when the new Realms Campaign setting is released to know enough to finalize the LFR.

C'mon, throw us a bone!
What regions are where?
TUs or no TUs?
How will play be handled?
How will inter-region play be handled?
When are modules expected to be done?
How many adventures each year?
How will character tracking be done?

What regions are where will be anounced at D&D XP at the end of Feb.

I imagine that the rest is the subject of discussion between Chris and the GAs at the moment, although much will depend on how much access the GAs are getting to the current iteration of the 4E rules. The PH is at the typesetting/proof-reading stage, I believe; the DMG and MM are still being edited so the actual final rules are not completely set in stone yet.

The next big LFR announcement will be at DDXP when Chris Tulach will announce the regions for LFR. Chris may answer some other questions about the campaign, but I do not expect any documents which contain 4E material to be published before the 4E rules books are published (June 08). Chris decides when new information will be released.

Chris Tulach and Mike Mearls are authoring the 4E / FR preview modules for DDXP. That has been announced as well, along with the blurbs, a few weeks ago.

I would anticipate that whomever writes early LFR modules will have to have access to the 4E material; does not that seem necessary? I (and other LFR Writing Directors) am (are) aware of time needed to write adventures, but it does vary by individual and circumstances.

BTW - what does the question "How will play be handled?" mean? I assume you are thinking of some aspect beyond normal RPGA play rules, but the meaning was not obvious to me.

Thank you and please be patient.

Oh, I missed one.

Officially, we are regional administrators and global administrators. The regional administrators are divided into: poc (points of contact), Event Manager and Writing Directors.

We will not use terminology like Circle or Triad.

But we Players need some Buzz-words to refer to you by. So we're supposed to cheer on our 3 local campaign staff (Ra! Ra! Ra!) and be intimidated by the top-level staff (Ga!!!)?

I think Rads and Gads would suit better, especially when properly pronounced. ;)

I think we should just call them Chosen until they tell us to stop.

How did I miss posting this here? I call them "fuzzy purple miniature giant space hamsters". They seem to like it on the LivingFR Yahoo group. ;)

Okay, I feel better now.
Only one more month and we can stop talking about nothing and think about the campaign. Yay.

Tom Bollis

Much better.

Actually that's the second best pair of acronyms since copperwyrmling proposed a sister metaorg to the Dyvers Anti-Slavery league (DASL) for Ratik, called the Ratik Anti-Slavery League (RASL).

So, like RASL DASL, Gamin and Radmin roll off the tongue nicely. :)

You just want an excuse to call people Radmen on a regular basis.
