| Molot06-19-07, 05:19 PM | Ok, first I'll explain myself ;) I've read novels translated to my national language, so if translating terms back to English caused any corruption, then I'm sorry and plz correct me. Each noble Drow family has their family emblem - little wondrous item granting them a bit of power. As far as I remember, some emblems may be stronger or weaker among a family, and may sometimes contain unusual powers, but the general set of dweomers is constant. Do you know exact powers of the Baenre's emblem? Thanks in advance... |

These days, they usually carry a 1st to 3rd level spell, usable once per day. Obviously, insignias of powerful houses like Baenre may carry more powers, but I don't remember seeing it in the entry of e.g. Gromph or Quenthel Baenre in the relevant Dragons accompanying the WotSQ serie, i.e. #302, 312, and 322. |

And now I need to get at least sketch of the dweomers the insignia can contain. From Salvatore's Homeland novel we know, that Do'Urden's insignia let them levitate at will, and gave total control over domesticated animals. It was also capable of carrying Mother's request to return home / go to her. Baenre's should be more powerful, but giving all drow's spell-like abilities "at will" seems reasonable start, don't you think? |

There is no mystical bond or direct correlation to the political power of the house the insignia represents, and they don't just spontaneously pop into existence. |
