07-31-07, 07:01 PM Totally depends on how and what their aim is, if they found an area that was lacking a divine power over, no, but they would then need to build a following and get a true divine power to help them gain power of the divine, otherwise they would need to find a way to do a coup and get divine favor to take that place.

08-01-07, 01:59 AM You generally need a divine spark to become anything other than DvR 0 - this can be attained by a higher-level god sponsoring you or stealing the essence of another god. Once you've reached demigod ranking, you can't get beyond that level into lesser god because of Ao's restrictions. No two gods above demigod level may have the same portfolio.

08-01-07, 12:29 PM Do you have to kill a god to become a god? answer - no. In the FR at least all you actually need is a deity that is willing to sponsor you and to have made enough of a reputation to have a few folks calling on you for help (ie rendering enough "worship" to keep you alive as a deity).

My assumption of jsut how this works is that it follws one of 2 paths:
1. Deity Sponsors you to AO and agrees to fulfill people's prayers to you untill such time as you have enough following to "survive on their prayers" and if AO approves you he provides the initial divine spark making you a DR0 character working to build a following. Once you have enough worshipers to acheive DR1 you become a demigood and are on your own under the sponsorship (and perhaps tuteledge) of the deity that sponsored you.

2. You have done so much already that you have a fairly large number of folks calling on your aid when sponsored to AO. In this case he providesd the divine spark and your worship level shifts you immediately to what ever demigod level you have developed.

In neither case is killing a god required. WHen a PC actually does kill either a demigod or DR0 NPC then I would suspect that if they have the sponsorship of a deity AO may allow them to either take over the roll of the deity - possibly with modifications such as Finder's alterations of Moander's portfolios, or to absorb the Divine spark and become a DR0 character themeselves and then work to build enough of a following to become a true deity themselves.

08-04-07, 09:59 AM Hahaha, true enough. Hope you manage to get yourself put back together some day in the near future. If you can learn from your mistakes, I doubt that this new upstart incarnation of the Lady of Mysteries can hold you off as well as the original.
